It's funny that you mentioned about the weight of the glass KitchenAid bowl... When that Raspberry-colored mixer first came out, I was ready to run to the store to get one (it's my fav color!). My current KitchenAid is now over 30 years old and has a metal bowl, which I have no problems lifting. The glass one, I quickly realized, would be much too heavy for me (now that I'm getting older). I tried to see if a metal bowl could be substituted, but, alas, it wasn't offered. So, I still have my original KitchenAid mixer, and have big sighs every time I see that beautiful raspberry mixer on someone else's counter... **sigh**

So why u would add baking powder why did u addbaking powder to your creamed mixture and not ur flour?? I have never seen it added ,only to flour..as b powder don't need to be worked so much ,as it loses its rising powder,as did ur cake .it should have risen to near top of pan ,..I have watched so many cooking shows and not once did I see it mixed so so much ...what is the purpose of adding and Mixing b powder so much ??

I saw some comments below in which some posters stated that the cake was too dry. I checked out some of the other vanilla cake recipes Everyday Food posted. Again there was a complaint about the cake being dry, but in those recipes there was 3 Tbsp less butter and 3 whole eggs as opposed to the 4 yolks and 1 whole egg (egg whites can cause a cake to be dry). Since I buy my eggs from a local egg farmer, they are a bit smaller so I added 1 Tbsp vegetable oil to the batter to keep it moist. Well, I baked this cake last minute (never do that!) and frosted it as soon as it cooled. I tasted it as I was planning on bringing some to a friend. I did not like the results of the cake. Later, when I was going to throw the cake in the compost bin, I tried it again, and it was really good! I guess it just needed to sit a bit more. It was very light and moist (shortly after ti was baked, it was a bit tough and the top had caramelized a bit and was crunchy). The only negative had nothing to do with the recipe: apparently my baking powder (brand new can) is not working very well since this is the third thing that I've baked that hasn't risen as much as it should.

Valrhona Chocolate, and a whole vanilla bean? That little cake could cost about $30 to make. My family's taste buds are not sophisticated enough for this expense. I'll substitute Nestles and McCormic vanilla and it'll be just fine.

Straightening that shirt is the least of her problems ...... First of all she's wearing 2 shirts.. 2nd. She looks frumpy. A real good tactic so that you seem relatable to ordinary working women or homemakers??? Please she's not insulting me.... No one in my family would be looking like that. Goes to show that superior bs on Martha Stewart Everyday Living.... What they actually think about woman... Ha.... I'm having quite a moment here. The other girl named Lucinda excuse me older woman, looks like she's 99. She let her hair grow very long and totally gray. " It's a spirtle Myrtle".🧐 Pushing that crap on QVC. now. 😜.
