The armament is indicative of post-WW2 realities…aircraft and submarines were the primary torpedo platforms, and the biggest concerns for a convoy or carrier task force were large, air delivered guided munitions. The US Navy began developing the twin 76 AA gun because of the Fritz X, and then along came kamikazes… Fletchers could only hold so much weight, so added radar, sonar, and twin 76s meant something had to go, and 1 torpedo mount was an easy decision…I imagine they parted with the No. 5 main battery mount a bit more reluctantly, since it was dual purpose, but the added twin 76 mount made up for that quite a bit. The 76mm shell was big enough to accommodate a VT fuse, making it rather effective. In game, if they ever buff it, it should get the same radar as Black…might have to nerf the reload a smidge with that, but…

I had to finish the campaign in order to get at least 1 VIII premium ship to earn the 50 steal per week. I’m not a destroyer player either. It’s rough. Great review!

Personally I would have been happier with a commander for the hiaida for the reward

This would be mediocre ship even when it's top tier. Unfortunately for T8 you won't be top tier 90 percent of the time which makes it even worse. Good luck facing a Daring, Gearing or Kleber in this thing.

They need to start varying the tiers for campaign ships a bit more pretty sure they could easily come up with more tier IV-VII ships if they wanted to.

What is wargamings up session with making the campaign absolutely awful tier 8 ships? Non of the tier 8 camping ship over the last year have been worse getting. Most of them should have been tier 7 like this thing, but this ship will probably struggle at tier 7 to be honest
