I was told that my sunscreen should have a tint to protect the hyperpigmentation better. What are your thoughts? Thank you!
@checksanityАй бұрын
Who said that? (As in, what is their knowledge/expertise?) Could there have been a miscommunication? Tinted sunscreens exist to counter the white cast that comes from having a high % of zinc oxide. That’s it. A tinted sunscreen may help hide or blur hyperpigmentation, but that does not mean it’s being *treated* A specific sunscreen might also add in ingredients that treat hyperpigmentation. However, that has nothing to do with whether the formula is tinted or not. The ingredients for tinting (adding colour) are not the same as treatment ingredients. -The above is based on information in this video, other Dr V videos, and frequently looking into ingredients lists.
@kateStaelinАй бұрын
@@checksanity aaaaah no miscommunication :). It was information given by a dermatologist... and a good one who has a channel.. and I have heard this from a few. I didn't say it " treated" I said he said it was a better alternative and gives better protection for those us who have brown skin :)
@joharvelle8288Ай бұрын
I work as an esthetician alongside a dermatologist. The reason for that is the iron oxides, which give the sunscreen its tint, help protect against blue light from phone screens, computers, etc, which can contribute to pigmentation issues over time. ☺️

Hi Vanita. I started watching your videos just a few weeks ago. Your videos are very informative. I am Guyanese with a medium complexion, I have Indian skin. I’ve been using fresh soy cleanser for about 2yrs, and I’ve noticed tiny pigmentations. I don’t know if it’s just me aging (I’m 36) or if that product stopped my skin barrier. I have tried multiple brands but can’t seem to find a cleaner to do what I want it to, I used to use different products years ago and my skin was literally the absolute best, that changed ever since I started using the fresh soy cleanser. The old acne scars are visible, there are tiny pigmentation. I bought a cetaphil gentle cleanser that I’m about to start using. I also use a vitamin C ans E oil as well. Please advise what skin routine I can follow for a flawless skincare 😊 thank you.

@daegrun2 күн бұрын
Hopefully then not sensitive to niacinamide and centella/cica. I like adapalene over the counter overall with acne or not that day. Every night. Azelaic acid can helpful but slow over the counter. Mandelic acid 5% with no other AHAs may serve as a daily toner or maybe to 10% in a wash instead of salicylic acid. Plain hydrocolloid patches or dressings/bandages are good too. Sulfur is an effective ingredient but isn’t as popular because of the scent. Can use in the shower, face wash, or my favorite as a spot treatment. If need a moisturizer value sized that isn’t heavy I like basic Cerave lotion - not the cream nor PM. I am currently enjoying Gold Bond Pure Moisture especially in use, ingredients, and price. The Cerave lotion doesn’t have niacinamide (in case sensitive to it too) - the Cerave PM has niacinamide in it but will get expensive rebuying…however the Gold Bond Pure Moisture does have niacinamide also for less $. Both include ceramides. ^^ I’m just another person and no expert. But I’d look over those things yourself as just a starting point.
