Very good explanation. One suggested addition would be the effect a taller tire has on axle ratio. Would apply more to 33” to 35” tires.

excellent explanation. I leaned that a good quality set of stock tires will be prefect for my use, and probably for 90% of all Sprinter Van usage. Since most of the driving is on highways and city streets, most of these vans with KO2 tires and similar off-road tires are not only not required, but are the wrong tire for typical usage.

Thanks so much. This wheel video answered so many of my questions and some I didn't ever know to ask! I have watched several of your video's and plan to look for others they are so Helpful! If you would like a suggestion for another video, it would be one on installing and programing the Nations aux. alternator with the Wadespeed regulator. Thanks

This is the best explained info review that I've seen so far. What would be the tallest / widest rim that would fit on Sprinter 2500 with Hwy tires that will probably not get off-roading ?!

You indicated that the factory tire pressure recommendations were for regular tires. What are your tire pressure recommendations for tires such as the BF Goodrich KO2s for daily normal road use?

This would apply to load range e (119) tires as well? When I bought my van they were at ~ 80 psi 🤔

Thank you for explaining wheel offset. Jeremy what is your opinion on the MB stock steel wheels? Cosmetically they are not as cool but how are they functionally for off-roading 1-3 difficulty trails?
@VanLandАй бұрын
You should be fine with minimal off-roading, however when the tread does run out i'd still go with an All Terrain Tire

Excellent video as usual, thank you! I have a heavier build, not exactly sure what the final weight will be yet but probably in the 11k lbs range. Most of which is in the rear. You talked about this in regards to the rim but not as much with the tires. Do you have a list of tires you would recommend? I have a 2022, 4X4 170 ext. Thanks!

I have mixed feelings with van product sellers, mostly because of what we call in the community "van accesories taxes" but between you and owl vans these are the best informative videos with real information (not "an oppinion" but real informstion) and ai bought products drom both of you. Expensive ones. Is not just the product cost but the customer services and the time you put into research and making the videos. I still won't pay 600 for spacers from owls, hahaha, but some other products make sense to pay the extra dollar. Thanks for the video. I will be checking your page to get the rims and tires. And searching if you already made a video about suspension. (I forgot to tell you that we are building a van from scratch for almost 2 years now, about to finiah)

i am running 255/85-16 on black rhino stadium rims on my 2015 4x4 sprinter presently at 130K the only problem so far is cupping if tires are not rotated every 3 or 4 k , also with bigger tires than recommended the tire manufacture provided me with a calculating graph to lower tire pressure when increasing tire size this so far has gotten rid of the cupping on the new set of tires. i am on my 4th set of tires 3 sets of 255/85-16 toyo M55 i am presently trying out the Cooper S/t maxx 255/85-16 any suggestions? great informational video.

Excellent explanation. For the spare tire, I wonder if it is acceptable to have the same size but a different brand or model. This might happen when the original four are worn out and switched to another brand or model of the same size.
@VanLand3 ай бұрын
good question, in a pinch its not a big deal but prolonged driving with mismatched tires can wear the transmission if tread pattern is significantly different (AWD Vans only)

yes, the ECU can be programmed with the exact tire size so the dash displays the correct speed.

I currently have the 245/70R17 KO2’s on Method 701’s that came on my 2021 Revel. Can I upgrade to your recommended 265/70R17’s without messing up the ECU,speed control and safety features or enlarging my wheel wells? I have 50k on the van and currently looking to replace my tires. I really like this video and it was really well done. Thanks for all the work you put into it.

Great explanation and overview about Sprinter tires. I have a 2020 Sprinter chassis on a Revel. Would I have to do any wheel well modifications for 265/70/ R17 tires? If so, how large could you go without any modifications? Thank you!
@VanLand10 ай бұрын
Yes you always need to do the Mondo Mudguard upgrade which isn’t too big of a deal. Unless you keep the 16” rim, you will need to do this mod. Also the rear mudflap mod is recommended but not required.

Would I be able to use the factory spare tire holder under the van if I get 265/70 R17. And will that size mess with my computer that monitors tire pressure, speedometer, millage ect
@orange138 ай бұрын
just a comment on the aspect ratio: it is the height of the sidewall, expressed as a percentage of tire width. for example, a tire with an aspect ratio of 55 has a sidewall that is 55% as high as the tire is wide. theoretically, a very wide tire can have taller sidewall with a lower aspect ratio number than a narrower tire has with a higher number.

Hi, this is a great video, very well presented and very informative. I guess fitting larger tyres will affect actual road speed vs speedometer reading? In your experience will 265/70 R17 tyres cause the speedometer to read slower than actual road speed? Thanks.

I want to change the wheels to Black Rhino 1680ARS386130D84 16X8 6X130 D-Sand-BLK 38MM Arsenal install original all-season tires, I can't find the right bolts, I see you have bolts for 17" wheels, I can install them on 16" wheels

In my own experience on trucks at least, mud terrain tires (like KM3) have horrible stopping distances. I wouldn't put them on such a heavy van build. I have KO2 on my Revel and are great on and off road.
