8:36.. Im on several van living pages and I give basically the same advice, what works for me wont necessarily work for you. Start out small, use the vehicle you have, figure out a way to sleep in it then do an overnight in your driveway, then at a local walmart or cracker barrel, work up to 2 nights, figure out what you need, rent a larger vehicle like your interested in, try camping out/living in it for several days

This q&a definitely help those of us who are thinking of starting even just part time. From your previous video, you mentioned you have a teenage son. Do you think he would like to join you for a summer travel? My kids liked traveling with me in their teenage years. But now that they are in their early 20's, not so much and I miss it. I hope to do part time van life and maybe, they'll join for the experience. Fingers crossed. Stay safe always.

The connect has a short distance between the wheels, which makes it way better over bumps and such. I drive a volkswagen for work, which is a bit longer, and it really affects how bumps affect the driving, even though it has more ground clearance, the Ford does better. If I drive where the tracks are deep, I just get one wheel on the side and the other in the middle of the road, where I can..

Love your videos. Sorry to hear about your wrist. To help you with zips - I thought I'd tell you about something I did when I damaged my wrist and had issues with zips - I made a toggle on a lanyard - the toggle was just big enough to fit into the top of the zip and the lanyard allowed to pull it up. I then just removed the device by a wiggle and the toggle falls out. Make loops in the lanyard enough to get your arm through or fist of fingers etc to pull the lanyard up and down. It also works for ring-pulls on cans, just make sure the can is secured so that it won't spill everywhere. How I damaged my wrist, I fell in the fells ...lol...of course - the hills where I live in Northern West England are called fells, most are around 600 to 900 ft high, I walk these hills and moors a lot. I enjoy the freedom of my own space and being in my church the great outdoors, nature is my spiritual path. I have had a rich and adventurous life - and the adventures have changed but I still make the most of life. I fell and my wrist took the full weight and pack weight, and it wasn't good I almost snapped it, so I was in a wrist protector for some while - I still get niggles with it and last year it almost stopped my annual jumps - to keep my wings I jump 8 times a year, I have done since I left the regiment 26 years ago. Keep fit, eat well, sleep like a child and live every day as if you were not to see another - live long and prosper as the man said.

You mentioned how beautiful our country is, I grew up on east coast and have been up and down the coast dozen's of times, vacation in Maine to Florida; but never been out west other than a layover in San Francisco on the way to Hawaii. I went on a business trip to Phoenix and decided to go early and travel up to the Grand Canyon and it was an OMG moment and that's when I realized there is so much more to this country very different than the east coast, the desert is beautiful in it's own way, I can't wait to get on the road full time to see this country, I just wished my mom had lived long enough to bring her to the Grand Canyon so she could have seen it's beauty.

Good to see you today and loved all the Q and A. One thing I wondered is how do you have medical insurance without working full time? Also, if you go to Hawaii, be sure to check with regulations first as I’m from there (not there now) and they’re very strict against sleeping in vehicles typically. No RV’s are even allowed because they’re such small islands. If you spend funds to get lady bug over there please ship it inside a crate. My car radiator rusted out terribly shipping in an open container when I left. Keep your light on and hope your wrist heals faster than expected! 💜
@LadyBugout2 жыл бұрын
Thank you for all the tips! Yes, I would definitely do research on it first. It wouldn’t be any time soon either. I have to pay for private insurance. It’s not good, but at least if something catastrophic happens it might help😛 otherwise, I try NOT to need it.
@herblapp61342 жыл бұрын
So in a manner of speaking, you are partly self insured. When l was last downsized and with their booting me off their island at 58....l was retired with no medical ins when Cobra ran out. I found a hi deductible policy that was vy reasonable. I had savings so l said l'll take care of then routine but l need protection from catastrophic so l wouldn't be bankrupted. That decision wss3s winner till l was eligible for Medicare.

This was a good video. I really appreciate your comment that this is beautiful country. I experience much of that from your experience as well as other travelers. My husband and I are 67 years old and it’s not likely that we will get to extensively travel the way you do. However, our dream is to find an affordable way to get about in a couple years. Getting ideas on what that could look like is another reason to watch your channel. 😉💛🚙

Waaaaaay back in college, we rented a house with a very ugly kitchen. I covered all of the kitchen countertops, including right to the edge of a traditional sink, with plain old contact paper (which also had a semi-waterproof feel to it). It held up surprisingly well for the two years we lived there.

Yes… sometimes the simpler, cheaper solutions work really well. And I figure, if they don’t last, at least they didn’t cost much🤗😜

Thanks Dee. How do you see out of your van after the balsa wood covers the windows. Started to do this to my van, but got concerned. Love your channel, you and your adventures.

My van didn’t have windows to begin with. So, I just got used to it. It was easier than I thought it would be.
