Also, Richard, have you any more ghostly Christmas tales? Have a fabulous week in the run up to the 25th & I'll be watching you over the Christmas period too. Merry Christmas & here's to a better, safer & healthier 2022 to you & your family. To Julia & her family also. X

I love trees also. Dame Judy Dench "My Passion for Trees" suggested trying to hug a tree. I did so - bare chested - in Friston Forest (making sure no one was looking!) and found it a wonderful experience. You can hear it, and feel it. Trees have soul! I now get rather distressed if I see a tree being chopped down. Lovely earrings Julia.

Have you explored Sullington Warren? When you go down the hill from the church, go straight across the A283 into Water Lane, and there is a car park on the left opposite the quarry. It's a National Trust property, and 60-odd years ago I often walked there with my girl-friend who lived in Sullington. It would be good to see it again. You'll find the place on Google Maps and it's quite a good size for a ramble when you want something not too energetic. Little Joe would love it, I think. There's even the preserved remains of an old windmill if you can find it. You can check it out on the National Trust website.

I guess you know Julia that English ( European ) Yew trees contain toxins that can be absorbed by the skin and can be very poisonous although I have never heard of anyone having problems !!!
@JuliaHartley3 жыл бұрын
The issue is if one were to ingest any part of the yew tree with the sole exception of the flesh of the berry, although the seed is also toxic and must not be eaten. Other than that, sitting for hours underneath the yew boughs in the heat of summer will leave a person very unwell due to the sap falling from the 'sweating' leaves onto the skin, as you say. Or so I've heard!
