Hehe. The tears did appear right at the end.... 🙂 I agree with everything you said here, Adrianna. Her voice is extremely good. There is absolutely NO denying that. But for me personally, she still falls into the category of artists that I tire from listening to after a while. I know what I get from her, and I get that. Every time. And that's what I get. Sounds weird I guess. I know that you are a big Cakra fan, and he is ALSO a very gifted singer (obviously), but still I feel much the same way with him. That's what's so interesting with music and art in general. Most painters for instance are very much stylistically stuck, while there are others who dare to venture outside and put their stamp in different styles. Georgia O’Keeffe was great 🙂 Dunno if Dom agrees though 😁 At least he knows a thing or two about flowers. Angelina and Putri are great examples of artists that can get me hooked for the long run. It dates back to right after the viking era in the 11th century. Aurora writes ad composes ALL of her own music, and just like Angelina, she is an incredible singer and musical genius. Chills at several points... her voice is just amazing... But I agree with what you said about the visuals and her backing track(s)... The visuals are less of a problem for me, I can always close my eyes but don't even need to because when listening to a voice like this I get into a half conscious state where all attention and brain activity is with the audio, so even with eyes open I don't really see anything, or the visual impressions are not being processed consciously because I'm so mesmerized and occupied with listening... which means the instrumentals really are a problem sometimes even if the voice is spotless, because of course I can reflect and come to the conclusion that her voice is magnificent, but it's hard for me to really love a recording if the instrumentals lack inspiration, which is the case for me in this track, the production sounds a bit flat to me... compared e.g. to Mon Laferte's new track "Tenochtitlán" released yesterday, in which every millisecond of the instrumentals is charged with dense emotion and brilliant creativity... That's why (you know what's coming...) I love me some Putri Ariani, with her playing the piano (Over The Rainbow with Dwiki Darmawan is an exception because he's as brilliant on the keys as she is vocally...)... so you already know I'm hoping for a reaction to Over The Rainbow, here I will give you another link to a song with herself on keys...that's the advantage if the vocalist is a brilliant instrumentalist at the same time and can accompany herself, so she can control the tempo and intensity of the instrumentals just as she needs them to be for her vocals to shine in the best possible way... James Arthur - Train Wreck (live cover by Putri Ariani) kzbin.info/www/bejne/ZoLLfGqAh5KYgJYsi=9iH-CWZUFHlyThxR - It's a complete mystery to me how it is possible to play a keyboard with such precision AND at the same time deliver such vocals, perfectly controlled in every nuance of color and dynamics... I know I sound like a broken record, but imo Putri is a true musical genius... I wish Vanny would get the opportunity to work with some really great musicians. For example Cakra Khan just released a new video for "Tennessee Whiskey", and for the sound production he had those same guys from "Roommate Project" who were playing in his "See You On Wednesday" performance (it's their channel...) - and these are really gifted and inspired musicians and the result is a recording with not only great vocals, but great music / instrumentals as well... I will have to check if Vanny ever has been on "See You On Wednesday", if so that must be a really great recording... And as this is about Vanny, not Mon or Putri or Cakra, let me add that Vanny just released a cover of "Unchained Melody" which is pretty awesome vocally and well worth listening to, only to have it become a real favorite of mine it also would require other instrumentals... I know I'm a bit nerdy, but as my brain is not capable to abstract a voice from what's going on behind it I just prefer music productions which can keep up with the vocals... @@SoulSessionSundays I'm just watching Mon's "Tenochtitlàn" again, freaking awesome masterpiece... it's creeping even more under my skin with every new listen, and the visuals and all of the symbolism in connection to the lyrics and her personal history is a lot to take in at once... complete artist, been loving her for a while, but now I'm in complete awe.
