I have a project idea, in the hangar you can see the yellow lines on the ground forming a giant aircraft silhouette, try to build it.

Idk if someone mentioned that already, but the little landig gears only create an illusion of sticking to the ground, they are spring loaded, which can be disabled. They work fine.

Also, you could use the flags as "drag breaks" after inital re-entry

In the first Star Gate series they used to launch armed UAV-s and missiles from the SGC straight trough the gate to support their teams on the other side. In the early days rockets like this one would have been useful.

The Rocket equation is merciless. You had to do 6 engines to lift the fuel needed for what really one engine would do. You needed drop tanks....staging.... etc... but cute little SSRT

6:05 Did you try turning the hinge motor size down to almost nothing? Motor size = mass = loss of delta-V.

I actually really loved the craft, the creative way to use flags to make like a cargo door, it once again gave me inspiration to open ksp, stare at the amount of mind power I have to put to design something that works and can survive my perfectionism, and then close the game.

Awesome. I would have used an expendable SRB for a first stage, and then a Spark for the second.

I know that feeling; add a little necessary part & delta-v plummets. More practically, if I remember right, structural wings and wing connectors (I call them all "wing boards") have much higher impact tolerance than the actual landing legs. Many parts do. Mk2 & Mk3 are ridiculously tough. A bigger rocket could be made of Mk2 parts with the engines clipped inside. Mk2 tanks have no more capacity than the same-length Mk1 tanks, the rest is supposed to be air ducts which would be unused in a rocket, so it's reasonable to clip into them.

It's not suction cup landing gears. It's just suspension tolerance height you're seeing.
@vaos37122 жыл бұрын
Sadly, whatever it is, it keeps the rocket on the ground almost a full second longer with the engines at full throttle, then not having any landing gears deployed at all. 🤔
@XavierBetoN2 жыл бұрын
@@vaos3712 It might me true for suction property but then again, It is probably just the suspension bending the rocket, hence making the uplift force slightly have a bent curved trajectory so that the take off delays. Have to do calculations to prove you wrong but I'm not gonna :D Nice video btw Feed me with sauce if it's internet radio, I'll listen to it while i make my podracer craft.
