Best set of tutorials I've seen on KZbin. Found you yesterday and watched all your vids. Your clear, and the information is always useful. Just a shame I don't play Xbox, as your maps look fucking awesome! Keep up the great work mate ;)

FusionFarCry no problem mate, I subscribed almost immediately. It'd be really cool to see the AI techniques you showed built into a war style map. Maybe something involving a land and air assault. I've seen another video saying how the control zones can be used to get both friendlies and enemies to drive and fly around. Maybe a level where you take on an outpost as a gunner from a helicopter, whilst your allies also siege the outpost in land vehicles. Might be a cool premise to try out?

You should really be using the hour/minute ToD sliders to move the sun, they come with a lot of changes that more accurately reflect late afternoon lighting. Right now all you have is noon but at a really weird latitude. I typically set latitude to the real latitude value of the place I'm trying to recreate. So for the Mediterranean map I'm making I'll set it to around 36°N. Sometimes I'll fudge it a bit if I want to move the sun without affecting the lighting color, but otherwise I let ToD and sun angle do most of the work. Fog scattering gives the fog a bloomier and dreamier feel as you go up with the value. Reduce for more clarity in the fog. Extremely useful for dream or fantasy maps. The phase settings control how the gig interacts with sunlight, either a lot of light bloom from the fog or little.

Thanks for the tips man, feedback like this is always helpful. I often do change the ToD sliders for different scenarios but where I had it set got me the effect I was looking for this time around. Changing the Latitude provides a similar effect that changing the ToD will give you, but it keeps the sun at the same brightness level which I like. Once I find the sun-glare I like with the ToD slider, I'm able to place it anywhere in the sky I want. I find it easier to get the lighting the way I want with that method.

I do alot of work to "hide" the fact the shadow distance in the arcade is TERRIBLE. forest environments are ruined by the stupid "shadow line". I'm forced to use cloudy or foggy weather when making any forest map.
