What can you do to adjust the "stretch" of width and height when your external control board doesn't work? My control board which is the only way I know how to do so basically doesn't work. I can get into the settings by clicking the MODE button on the board but no other buttons function after that. I've already tested continuity with the cable connector as well as continuity on the control board itself. Continuity is not an issue. My monitor simply won't honor any other button press on the external board.
@arcaderepairtips Жыл бұрын
Before we address the control board issue, we should mention that horizontal width can be adjusted on most monitors by using the horizontal width coil. See our post on Adjusting The Horizontal Width Coil on our website for more information. Based on your description, it sounds like you have a newer digital monitor. Great job checking the continuity back to the main chassis. At this point, you’ve basically narrowed down the issue to the control board itself. We would suggest trying to replace it (if you can find a replacement). You can also try checking the buttons/pots individually with your multimeter to see if they are functioning properly and replace as needed. If you have any additional questions, you can reply back to this comment or join us for our Live Show Episode 75 on Thursday, May 4, 2023 at 5:30 PM CT on KZbin as we will be covering your question during the show. @@arcaderepairtips Thanks so much for the detailed reply! Thankfully I was able to obtain a used remote control board, swapping that in for the old one, even using the old cable/connector. Very interesting video. Superior job in your details. I always wondered how these monitors worked because I never knew where the common controls were like on a regular TV. What about the hue/tint adjustment and the color adjustment where you can make the image black and white. What about audio adjustment, where are those controls?
@arcaderepairtips2 жыл бұрын
The color adjustments can be found on the neck board. There are typically two adjustments per color (a cutoff and a drive). As for the sound, some game boards have a volume adjustment either physically on the PCB or in the test menu for the board. Some monitors have their adjustments on a breakout or remote board. If this is the case for your monitor, there should be some wiring or a cable that runs to this board from the chassis. Look to see if you can find a grouping of wires coming off the chassis and follow them. Hopefully one grouping will lead you to the adjustment board. That panel for adjusting the display settings was moved right behind the coin door in front on the Arcade Legends 2 machine I picked up recently. I'm in the process of upgrading the joysticks and buttons... but all of a sudden, the display itself has shifted over to the right (it is partially cut off now). I've tried twisting the different knobs. Am able to raise/lower the display, mess with brightness/contrast, raise/lower the display... but for whatever reason, no matter which knob I adjust.. I cannot get the picture to re-center again properly. I may have to open up the back and see if there are any more knobs/adjustments I can make back there. what a pain!
@arcaderepairtips5 ай бұрын
So, you should see “some” change when you are turning the adjustments on the “break-out” adjustment board. If you are not, then it could mean that you have a connection issue between the main monitor chassis and the adjustment board OR that the potentiometers on the board are not working properly. Turn off your game and check these items to see if it helps the problem. If the “break-out” adjustment board is hooked up and the pots are working properly, then you may have an issue with your monitor chassis. Let us know the make and model of your monitor chassis and we'll try to help you out further. Hope that helps. We will also be covering your question on our Live Show Episode 89. @@arcaderepairtips Thank you for the reply! It is a Chicago Gaming Co "Arcade Legends 2" machine from 2007. I just had it open recently replacing some button switches that went bad. the "adjustment board" in it allows you to adjust the display brightness, contrast, v position, h position, etc... but no matter how I tinker with it, the display is still off center. I looked inside the back, around the monitor PCB but did not find any other adjustment knobs anywhere.
@arcaderepairtips5 ай бұрын
@@cylotron You might try turning off the game. Unhooking the connector from the remote adjustment board, hooking it back and, and see if that helps. Again, sometimes a bad connection between the adjustment board and the main chassis can cause this issue. You might also try disconnecting the input wires from the monitor chassis and reconnecting them (while the game is powered off) as well. If the picture is still shifted after that, we need to see if we can get some more information about the monitor. You can send a picture of the back of your monitor to us via email at questions@arcaderepairtips.com if you need additional help.

I have 2005 golden tee. I adjusted the volume and screen went out. When I turn off power then back on think vision comes on screen then it’s blank. Is there a way to factory reset or adjust the screen. ?
@arcaderepairtips Жыл бұрын
Just adjusting the volume should not have caused the screen to go out. With that said, it’s possible that you jostled something while performing the volume adjustment. Check to make sure that the connection between the monitor and the board is good (probably a VGA cable). You might also want to check the monitor itself to make sure the game board is set to the proper input (try hooking up a computer to it if you have one). Check to make sure that the JAMMA harness is properly connected and that the voltage going to the game board is correct as well. If all that checks out, there’s a good chance that there’s a problem with your game board. If it’s playing blind, it’s more than likely an issue with the video card. If you would like to hear more of our thoughts, we will be discussing your question on our Live Show Episode 71 which can be found at the following link: kzbin.info/www/bejne/pqHNgmiEbcqXgMU

The anode should have a clip on it that attaches to the hole located at the top of the tube. We like to use our discharging tool to reattach it. You should be able to place one side of the clip in the hole and depress the other side of the clip with your discharging tool allowing the clip to fall completely into the hole. If you have trouble with this, we have used needle nose pilers for this as well. Just be sure to make sure the monitor is unplugged, and the tube is discharged before proceeding. Like a total black screen. Also the brightness goes up and down like if you were the one moving the pot. Any ideas?

by the looks of it that machine was an mvs 4 slot.. at least the cab was for that and they were playing an snk game that is for the mvs system... so it is probably still the 4 slot board in there.

I was told messing around the back of the monitor even with the power OFF can kill you? So I’m supposed to mess around back there with the power ON?

We know it sounds scary but it's not as bad as you think. On the monitor in this video, most of the adjustments are directly on the monitor chassis. Many monitors have their adjustments on a break out board that's separate from (but still connected to) the monitor. Break out boards make the process a bit less scary. Regardless of how your monitor is set up, just be sure to take precautions based on your level of comfort. Rubber gloves and plastic adjustment tools (like the TV alignment tools we discuss in our post/video on Adjusting The Horizontal Width Coil) can also be used if you don't feel comfortable making these changes with just your bare hands. If you need additional help with your issue, we will be discussing your question on our Live Show Episode 64 which can be found at the following link: kzbin.info/www/bejne/iHK1l2uImpWEr7M

I worked on CRT monitors for a few years a few safety tips should be said before you dig into a CRT monitor. As a electronic tech who has been shocked, and burned by a CRT monitor need to beware. CRT monitors are powered in such a way that the chassis may have 70 volts in reference to earth ground because they don't use a 1 to 1 transformer they rectify the AC to DC and goes straight into the electronics saves on money and weight. Will you get a shock maybe if you are also touching metal bench or something and your hand is on the chassis. The way to stop that is to use a 1 to 1 transformer isolates the power from earth ground you don't need the 1 to 1 transformer just be mindful of it's danger. Also he said touching the flyback connector can shock you well its not easy to unplug it yes you could be killed by a shock like that. The more common thing to happen is brushing your skin against the flyback wire itself that can give you a burn because it's high voltage and higher frequency it will burn you like touching hot soldering iron. It's best to wear heavier rubber gloves if your adjusting pots always try to use a plastic handle screwdriver put some shrink rap down the entire metal length that way can't short anything by mistake. If your colors are not perfect try the focus and contrast before you mess with the color pots on the CRT drive board. Also you might want to mark the pots original position with some nail polish. Lot of times mess with those pots and now it looks lot worse can't get it back to what it was before. Tubes which run 24/7 like arcade games sometimes can't be fixed just have to be replaced.

anyone have any idea why my monitor is showing shrunken graphics on the bottom and enlarged graphics on top. when the game play is in the middle of the screen it looks normal. by middle I don't mean dead center, I mean like the middle as if it were a horizontal line. its,like there are 3 sections showing the characteristics I mentioned. in addition, I can't get the image to stretch to the very bottom of the screen, it's about 3 inches of nothing before the screen shows anything. the game is a Namco reunion and I believe it's a Wells Gardner monitor. I would greatly appreciate any insight or help.

ARCADE REPAIR TIPS, all arcade monitors have a B+ voltage set at 125 vdc. Why does the Vertical sync and horizontal sync hold circuit need a B+ bias voltage set at 125vdc in order for it to work correctly? 125vdc is a big DC offset bias voltage for a sync circuit

I'm missing about an inch at the top of my monitor. If i try to move the image up with v size/ v postion it just starts coming back down and overlapping the screen, anyone know how to fix this?

Sounds like a classic case of a bad capacitor in the power supply section of the monitor chassis. Get a cap kit and install it and you should be good to go. Check out our post and video on Installing A Cap Kit for more information. Link: www.arcaderepairtips.com/2009/07/09/installing-a-cap-kit/

I have ran into a problem with a MAME project my son and I are doing. The cabinet is an old SEGA GT and the monitor can plug directly into the PC. Everything comes woks great until windows loads. Once Windows fully loads we get four to five narrow versions of it on the screen at the same time. Up until it loads everything looks great. Anyone have a solution for this? I would greatly appreciate it.

at 6:06 you are pointing to a monitor control board. Mine seems to be broken with some cold solder joints. Do you know where I can buy one of these peices? my monitor model is G-A63ADG25X Thanks
@airthrow11 жыл бұрын
That is your tube model number, you need to buy a control board which suits your chassis, the tube model number doesn't help you buy the control board. Google "whats my arcade chassis" and use the arcadecontrols pictures to match up what your chassis is, then buy that control board. You could also just reflow the solder on your control board (I could do it for you too). Good luck!

Bro. How to repair Blue skrin of death on arcade machine
@arcaderepairtips4 жыл бұрын
A "blue screen of death" is usually caused by a malfunction with your main game board. For example, this issue commonly happens on CPS-2 games that have suicided due to a dead battery. With that said, the solution really depends on the type of game board or computer that is hooked up in your cabinet. You can try some of the steps that we discuss in our post and video on Inspecting An Arcade Board but for more troubleshooting we'll need to know a bit more about your cabinet. I have just installed an Icade 60in1 PCB, which I bought second hand from eBay, into my jamma cab. Basically, the colours are screwed up on the games, more noticeably on Donkey kong because Mario and the girders are purple and not red and frogger as most things look purple, logs, lily pads, everything. On the opening test colour bar screen, most of the squares are purple and colours look dull and flat. Not nice and colourful and vibrant like I've seen on other icade 60in1's. Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong? I am a complete novice and never done anything like this before. Any help or suggestions would be gratefully received.
@chadbauch79708 жыл бұрын
First thing I would check is to make sure all my pinouts are correct on the 60n1 connector. Second, make sure you have all colors, red, blue, and green. If you have another jamma board with the same pinout, then you could put that in to see if you have a good picture. It may be that the 60n1 has a different sync frequency or the board has issues with its graphic roms.

hi sir ,why the arcade monitor is lean back ?
@arcaderepairtips10 ай бұрын
The monitors on some arcade cabinets are intentionally angled in order to help the player see the screen better and give the game more of an environmental feel. Is it leaning back more than usual? If so, the monitor could have come loose from its cabinet mounting. Check the mounting "rails", frame, and bolts to see if they are secured properly. Hope that helps. We will also be covering your question on our Live Show Episode 84. Here's a link to the episode if you want to watch it: kzbin.info/www/bejne/mGrHdaRsn714qqM

Those are consumer TVs. Are you trying to play TC3 at home or are you trying to build an arcade cabinet?

It probably needs a cap kit, that is the capacitors need to be changed. This solves a lot of monitor issues. It is not normal.
