People get NES bootlegs exactly like they get PS2 bootlegs - at least in Russia, you can find them for sale in thrift stores, underground shops, variety stores, etc. It's just that famiclones and Mega Drive clones are still pretty popular in Russia (not for the lack of better choice, since PC gaming is quite popular here - more for nostalgic reasons, since we rarely had any official consoles in the 90s to begin with), so when stores order famiclones, they usually get a bunch of bootlegs as well. That's how chinese stuff gets here, hehe. Hope to catch one of your Russian bootleg streams in the future, if you're inclined to do more of these. I can translate stuff!

That Diablo bootleg was from a company called Shenzhen Nanjing. One of their first bootlegs was of Golden Sun, and they decided "you know what? Golden Sun fits Diablo. Let's make a custom Diablo using everything from Golden Sun because fuck it." There's actually a full playthrough of it floating around somewhere on KZbin.

When it comes to those DDR bootlegs, i almost feel like the bootleggers are expecting you to emulate. That, or disassemble your NES/FDS controller and remove the little pivot part in the d-pad so all four buttons can be pressed at once. ...which i've actually done with a PS2 controller.

In that "The Hacker" game, what's happening is that the screen is glitching out and shifting the position of the character and enemies, so it's basically forcing him to run into the enemies. That's why it was so hard to play, Uncle Jorbel!

No, it's just that the sprites for jumping and walking aren't aligned correctly. NES hit detection uses an entire solid square, not pixels. Therefor there's a small invisible area of hitbox because the 'artists' made the sprite too small.
