Wow, you actually celebrated Halloween over in Sweden? Man, neighbor's got the better end of the stick that time. Here in Finland, we have like no Halloween spirit. Like, the candy goes on discount... and that's about it. There was no trick or treating to be had. That was reserved for Easter, bizzarely enough. I remember growing up with American cartoons and being so dissapointed about not having Trick or Treating around here. So much so, that our family would host these grand-ass Halloween masquerade parties for all our classmates in revolt of this lack of holiday spirit and we were always sorta remembered as the guys that made Halloween super fun. It's something that continues live on in my heart. Halloween is that one ounce of child-like wonder the cynicism of reality could not extinguish within me. I consider it my favourite time of the year, when I get an excuse to binge horror stuff for an entire month, the athmosphere and mood of autum is at it's best at that time and I usually pork out the most during October with extravogant amounts of snacks. October is a time I indulge. The one month when I let myself go just a little bit for the sake of enjoying myself.

Unemployment is sturring a new recession-period, we're an oppressively intimidating, gloomy and depressing lot and of course everyone's favourite hot-button around here is immigration, which has brought upon a troubling double-standard situation. Financial support for unemployed and students whom are national Finnish citizens is barely considerable as a spit in the face (costs of living here are 700-1100€ mothly. Unemployed students rake in about 450€ without loans), while foreign exchange students have all the books payed for them in-advanced and get enough money from KELA that they might as well show up to school in a sports-car. This is a problem that has alarmingly begun anti-immigrant anarchist movements in the form of "Soldiers of Odin."

***** Guns? Heavens no! You can own a traditional 9mm handgun... that's about it. True, you can hunt with a carbine too, but open carry laws do not permit you to fashion around a 9mm with you on the streets. Considering the process of getting a lisence and the costs of such, people getting guns around here are usually collectors. Enthusiests of the craft, rather than the use. Caught with one, and the police'll most definetly pull you over for questioning, because for how rare people with frearms are around here, the people carrying them are almost certainly up to no good. I can hardly imagine any racial conflicts are really going to elevate beyond random acts of blind anarchy. We Finns have a rather stern disposition and carry a deep respect for only 1 thing; Common sense. When I say we're gloomy and depressing, that's because we're a rationalist society of introverts. Very "mind your own business" kind of people that talk big, so long as nobody's there to hear it. Even yelling in the town square is usually considered horribly rude, not tolerated by anyone. You think such a group of people would rise up to declare war on the Foreigners? Honeestly, the Soldiers of Odin is the farthest we'll ever see to a "race war." A spineless band of self-righteous punks. Man-children and would-be idealists so detached from basic reason that they wouldn't know human decency if they were battered to death by the consept. They couldn't be more despised around here if they paraded as neo-nazi communists. To the Soldiers of Odin, I spit at ye.

They come here out of survival, they come here because they wanna make something of their lives. Immigrants are people, with the same rights as you and me. With the same feelings as you and me.
