Thankyou, was struggling with this topic but now watching this video has made me understand it more better!

Hi , is this for AQA? i know that you need to know variable oxidation states for cobalt and chromium
@AlleryChemistry8 жыл бұрын
+Omar Alias Yup you're right. Copper chem is not needed for AQA. Just the reactions to do with Cu ions in aqueous solutions. (Topic 16).

For the Disproportionation at 4:05 does the 2 infront of Cu+ not times by +1 to make +2 and therefore no oxidation just reduction, or do we ignore the 2, Also does this mean I don't need to know this video for AQA syllabus? Thankyou so much for your videos!

+Mo Tayee Yup, ignore the 2 that is for molar ratios only. Copper Chemistry in this vid is not required for AQA although basic complexes are.

Allery chemistry do you need to know this for the new ocr spec as it does not say in there ?
@XAssassin Жыл бұрын
is this new spec or old spec? do we need to know copper chemistry for the new spec?

Allery, is there any negative oxidation of copper? I read this somewhere but I no longer remember the example of that compound having a negative oxidation state, not the resource also. It's not available on the internet also. Would you help me with this matter?

but isnt Cu2O a red solid????
@AlleryChemistry9 жыл бұрын
MrTonsun Yes however I was referring to Cu+ ions in solution to which compounds formed from solution are white e.g. CuCl. Cu2O is insoluble in water and will oxidise to Cu2+ over time anyway. Hope this helps!

A Level Chemistry Revision Videos thx for the reply! I have another question :P Does the Cr3+ aqua ion redissolve in excess NH3? on some revision notes said it does and some said it doesnt :/ lovin your vids and keep it up!
@AlleryChemistry9 жыл бұрын
MrTonsun Yes it will redissolve to form a purple hexaammonia complex. I did a summary vid on transition metal complex ions that may be of interest to you just click the link. kzbin.info/www/bejne/d4mae5-VhKasnKM
