It would’ve been a cool surprise, but in the current environment, where everything gets spoiled in a race to get the scoop, that would’ve been essentially impossible to keep a secret for the next two years. In fact, there were already rumors about it before SDCC, so the Marvel team likely just decided to get what pop they could out of it at Hall H.

Like that's too much. I avoid anything comic book related now. I stopped following a bunch of marvel/DC stuff on social media so it doesn't show up randomly lol For Deadpool and wolverine I was genuinely surprised at everything. I had no clue there was gonna be cameos or anything. It was such a great experience

RDJ playing Doom is fine. Desperate but fine. All I ask is that we get Doom and not Stark. We have never had Doom adapted remotely close to his amazing comic origins. Even if we get a rebooted Doom in the new MCU, it won't be the same. Secret Wars needs to have a real Doctor Doom. The fact that this casting has more implications for Spiderman instead of Reed Richards or the Fantastic Four is really silly to me. I like that you guys are seeing the positive in this and I am trying too but if it really is an Iron Man variant then this will be one of the most shameless things the MCU has done. I understand changing things for the big screen. I really do but why change what is perfect? Doom is not just some villain, he's THE villain. To strip him of an opportunity to be finally adapted well into live action in favour of using RDJ as a marketing ploy would be simply sad. That being said, congrats Arris!

Agreed.. it is desperate as hell.. and for me.. that's why it's not fine. I feel like the folks making the creative decisions for the MCU are hacks.. and they've been hacks since Phase 4... Now everywhere you look Doctor Doom and Iron Man are mentioned in the same sentence... and that is so disrespectful to the character of Victor Von Doom.. look at the thumbnail of this video. I think that a general lack of respect for the source material is why The MCU is falling off.. if it wasn't for a comic fan like Ryan Reynolds and the Deadpool and Wolverine film breathing a little life into the MCU.. things would just keep getting worse. This is exactly why the casting of RDJ reeks of desperation. It's like the higher-ups at Disney want to do everything except read a fucking comic book

OK so 2 ideas: 1. Assuming the Tony/Von Doom mind swap-what if when they swap back, it's revealed that the OG Doom is played by Michael Fassbender (The younger Mahneto from the Fox Movies). Then, when the universe gets remade, he's remade as Magneto and his character has a really cool retconned background where he forgot he was Dr. Doom-but the dark aspects of his character carry over into his new life, hence how he lived in the Fox X-men Universe. Also, Fassbender's Magneto starts his adult journey in the 1960's, which would make it fit in nicely with the retro 60's setting of the upcoming Fantastic 4 movie. 2. When Loki defeats God Emperor Doom at the end of Secret Wars, he says "Puny God." Lol

The way time travel was explained in Endgame there would still be the original timeline mcu that was unchanged by Tony’s sacrifice and snap. The ancient one even questioned if she had picked correctly the next sorcerer supreme. So could the ancient one have picked Tony instead of Strange. Then with the events of the first snap could Tony have become sorcerer supreme combining his tech and magic plus his more justified rational of a suit of armor around the planet. This would fit the idea of new mask same task.

I feel like they’re rushing Dr. Doom as the main villain for several reasons: - They’re planning to use Doom as the primary villain in the next Avengers movie, but he hasn’t even been introduced yet. Even the Fantastic Four haven’t been fully set up in the MCU. - Doom isn’t even the main villain in the upcoming Fantastic Four movie. Establishing the rivalry between Reed Richards and Doom in just one film feels rushed; it should take a few movies to build properly. - Even if they bring in Dr. Doom after Secret Wars, it’s definitely not going to be portrayed by RDJ, which could lead to fans not taking the new Doom seriously. There would inevitably be comparisons, and many might complain that the new portrayal doesn’t live up to expectations. It would be better to delay these movies and take the time to develop his character properly.
