I think the build up to Nekron and the Black Lanterns would be a very interesting twist and new direction for DC movies, but it would require Green Lantern and that side of DC to be a main focus. I think it would be amazing if done well, but I feel like you need a lot of heroes be dead to add to the weight of it. Gunn obviously has experience with space stories, so if Green Lantern is handled half as well as the Guardians of the Galaxy, I am sure it will be fantastic. Darkseid would be good but I don't think its a great idea after the Synderverse, we would definitely need a New Gods movie to set him up. I personally would love to see Brainiac as the first "big threat", but Nekron or Darkseid would be a great as the main villian for the DCU's conclusion, depending on the set up. Great video yet again!

I actually have a pitch idea for a DCU adaption of Blackest Night as an epic conclusion to a Green Lantern film/TV show saga of projects where they build up to Blackest Night after multiple Green Lantern stories told in film similar to how it took the MCU 3 phases of movies to build up to Infinity War and Endgame. My pitch idea would include Kyle Rayner's Green Lantern as the main GL character alongside other GL's like John Stewart and Hal Jordan, where my story would establish Kyle as the best friend to Willaim Hand, who I would reimagine as this introverted, mentally challenged young adult who goes to the same art college as Kyle. The two would be really close friends as Kyle would treat Willaim with kindness and make him feel like a normal person. In contrast, Willaim, ever since he was born, has had mental problems that were deeply neglected and discouraged by his family, William even as a baby, he would hear the voice of Nekron whispering to him, but WIllaim would perceive them as just his own mental thoughts making him feel isolated and alone as hides his own suicidal tendencies thinking the world would be better if he was dead. Still, Kyle would be the one person to make Willaim happy in his life and see him as his true brother, compared to his actual brothers and sisters, shunning him as the black sheep of the Hand Family. My take on Blackest Night would be a two-part film epic event where William Hand begins to see and hear Nekron (The Entity of Emptiness) calling him to unleash the Blackest Night to allow Nekron and the Black Lantern Corps to rise, and as such, other Lantern Corps begin to sense the beginning of the end. The Guardians of Oa have feared this prophecy for aeons, believing that Willaim Hand must die to prevent Nekron's arrival, thus creating a moral conflict where Kyle refuses to let his best friend die even if it means the end of the world. Because of this act of defiance, the Guardians, in this desperate state of fear, tell every Green Lantern member to hunt down and eliminate Willaim Hand as Kyle Rayner attempts to defend him, even if when other Green Lanterns are opposed to killing this kid who doesn't understand what's happening, they have no choice. This would be a vast ticking clock story as Kyle hides with William, and they enter unexplored forbidden sectors of space that the Green Lantern Corps have not colonised yet, trying to save him. He would forever have John, Hal, and Kilowog by his side to help him. Still, even they are unsure of the situation they're forced into as they have moral discussions over trying to save this kid who even he believes should die to make sure the Blackest Night does not happen, despite how much Kyle isn't not willing to let his friend die. Furthermore, other Lantern Corps, like the Atrocitus and the Red Lanterns, plus Sinestro and the Yellow Lanterns, would be working together to hunt them as they both sensed the arrival of the Blackest Night. However, fortunately, The Blue Lanterns and Star Sapphires offer their help to protect Willaim and attempt to find a way to stop this end of the universe. Thus this would lead to this group ensemble to meet the Indigo Tribe for the first time as Abin Surr (Hal's predecessor) predicted this event to one day happen before his death so he created the Indigo Tribe built on Compassion to enlighten others, and it would be Kyle's compassion for his friend that would allow the Indigo Tribe to try and find a way to cut Nekron's manipulation and control over WIllaims mind to make sure he never becomes the Black Hand of Death. I dont want to give away too much of what happens in my pitch for this two-part saga conclusion, but I just wanted to share my idea for Blackest Night and how Id write it as this cinematic epic event. I have it all written down with some of my own ideas and themes and even have some of my own sketch and casting ideas.

Nekron and the Black Lanterns are a really good pick in my opinion. Building up the Lanterns and overall Emotional Spectrum will take a long time, and I think that each Chapter's theme could coincide with the Corps introduced in that period. I think that this Chapter's main themes will revolve around willpower and hope in a world of fear. With the title of "Gods and Monsters," you'd expect the core of this Chapter to be centered around the monsters of the world (metaphorical or physical) coming to light while superheroes (pantheons of modern mythology) rise above. Introducing the seeds for the Blue Lantern Corps and Sinestro Corps would be sick.

I'd love to see BWL (and Barbatos) adapted to a mixed medium of TV, movies, and animated series. That'd be awesome. The key problem with adapting that storyline is how (mainstream TV and movie) audiences don't like when stories get too supernatural, too "god tier" powered, too otherworldly, and too multiverse driven. We see those devices used well in comic books, novels, anime, even some video games, but they're unfortunately never received well in mainstream TV and movies. HOWEVER... if they decide to adapt it down the road, they'll certainly have enough material to use for a number of movies and TV shows.

I have no doubt we'll get at least 1 film, probably in chapter 2, but if Lanterns gets a season 2, it could get a higher budget and they could do more cosmic stuff. I think that would be a great idea since shows have more time than movies and there is a looot of stuff you can do with the Lanterns. But whether they do that or not, we could still get a Green Lantern film. The films will undoubtedly be more cosmic than the show, which ever way you go. So they could have the Lanterns show be about the earth green lantern, John, and have the film be about other characters

When looking at Suicide Squad, Peacemaker and the upcoming Creature Commando, I think the DCU first main villain will be Amanda Waller and her organization (or at least someone in her organization like Maxwell Lord or General Eiling), with this first phase of movies building up towards an adaptation of the Cadmus Arc. Since there rumors that the main villain in Superman will be a clone of Superman (and will have the apperance of Rick Flagg Sr), it's very likely the movie will have Clark and his friends (Lois and Jimmy) uncovering Waller involvement in the clone's creation, causing more damage to her reputation and, in the process, inspiring heroes like Mr Terrific, Hawkgirl and Guy Gardner to be more independent and not being control by the goverment. The following films could showcase the rise of other heroes who don't operate under Waller and the goverment control, causing them to become worried due to the meta-humans potential to be threat. The final straw could be the Authority, since they are anti-heroes and have no problem doing morally questionable things, resulting in Waller deciding that meta-humans are too dangerous and need to be eliminate. So Waller could hire doctor Ivo to build up the Amazo, an android capable of stealing the heroes powers in case they turn against humanity. This all could all lead up to JL movie, in which Waller uses her organization to frame the heroes for a crime they didn't commit, gainning authorization to unleash Amazo to hunt them down. So the movie could have the heroes teaming up and trying to prove their innocence. It would be less a "heroes saving the world from an alien invasion" story (I'm would save that for the third film) and more of spy/political thriller, with the heroes doing more investigation and trying to clean their name.

I would love the Black Lanterns to be the Big Bad. But that requires so much Green Lantern stuff, like a good introduction to all the Corps. But I doubt they'd take that risk on something like Green Lantern. Like, why stake the big bad of your multi series franchise on some heroes most people don't care about. This is coming as someone who is more of a GL fan than I am a DC fan. I love Green Lantern, but I sadly don't think they'd risk it. Even if I'd love if they do.
@milkiassamuel780Ай бұрын
I personally would love to see an adaption of Blackest Night as the culmination of the DCU and I actually have a pitch for a Green Lantern film saga where it ends with a DCU adaption of Blackest Night as an epic conclusion to a Green Lantern film/TV show saga of projects where they build up to Blackest Night similar to how it took the MCU 3 phases of movies to build up to Infinity War and Endgame. Still, Kyle would be the one person who makes Willaim happy in his life and sees him as his true brother, compared to his actual brothers and sisters, who shunning him as the black sheep of the Hand Family. My take on Blackest Night would be a two-part film epic event where William Hand begins to see and hear Nekron, aka The Entity of Emptiness, the utter and complete blackness that existed before the spark of creation, as Nekron would be calling William and psychologically torturing him to unleash the Blackest Night to allow Nekron and the Black Lantern Corps to rise, and as such, other Lantern Corps begin to sense the beginning of the end. This would be race against time ticking clock story as Kyle desperately tries to hide with William, and they enter unexplored forbidden sectors of space that the Green Lantern Corps have not colonised yet, trying to save him for however long they have left. I have it all written down with some of my ideas and themes and even have some sketch and casting ideas.

High budget tv shows (especially those produced by HBO) cost way more than making a single movie. That said, I do agree the Black Latern corp would be awesome, but they should save that for later down the road so the impact of resurrected heroes hits harder.

My guess would be a Green Lantern villain (not sure who), given how cosmic their threats tend to be. Darkseid is an obvious pick, but he's too similar to Thanos, so they're likely going to avoid him

Its gotta be The Center. Gunn said that the New Frontier storyline has influenced the DCU heavily. Also, Lanterns description mentioned an earth-based mystery, investigating a murder in America. I know that description of Lanterns isnt much to go off, but it does fall in line with the Center's earth-based cult. Lanterns is also said to have a tie in with the overarching story.
@DJ_BumperYTАй бұрын

@dr.awesomex75Ай бұрын
I feel like Brainiac might just be set up for a Superman sequel. Especially given we know Superman ‘25 apparently is hardly going to show Krypton’s lore and Superman still knows very little about Krypton, it would make sense to showcase that in a sequel. So definitely agree with you there on the sequel angle. The most obvious answer for the villain seems to be The Centre, from The New Frontier. Gunn has been extremely open about how much he likes TNF and how it’s influenced the DCU, there are already rumors TNF is the basis for the inevitable JL film, the rumored villains of the Lanterns series as the Centre’s Cult, and you can have elements of the Centre spread across other projects, like Dinosaur Island in Creature Commandos and Paradise Lost explaining the lore of The Centre. The Black Lanterns just feel completely out of the blue. There’s zero evidence they’ll be in Lanterns, let alone a founding JL film IMO
@NickHippo13Ай бұрын
Sorry for confusion, I didn’t mean that the villain in this video would be the first JL villain, I’m talking Thanos level threat. I think it would be ridiculous to put any of these villains as the first JL villain (aside from maybe brainiac)

I think Nekron and the Black Lanterns are an awesome idea! Gods and Monsters being the theme it fits that the Black Lanterns are both of those things! Also if they were to kill off Hal Jordan in the show he could later come back as a Black Lantern which would do evil Hal but as a completely different way. I think that’d be cool but after the Snyderverse I think there will be a greater focus on who they should be versus what they could be if the right dominoes were to align.

Hal Jordan Parallax would be awesome. That would add so much depth to the big bad, even more than Thanos wanting to erase half of the universe.
@luccamerhy63058 күн бұрын
I really think that the first big threat in the new dcu will be something like the Authority, and the Justice League will rise to defeat them. I think there’ll be a plot based on rescuing the concept of heroism (inspired by Kingdom Come), and it will start with the superman movie. Superman will bring back that feeling of true heroism, and then the Authority would be the group to go against that. The fact that the engineer will appear in the Superman movie gets this thought stronger in my mind.
@GreatRoostarАй бұрын
I don't like the idea of Nekron being the big bad of the Dcu. I'm hoping for the Legion of Doom or the Injustice Gang or even just go with Darkseid again. For Nekron, I feel that you'd have to put a lot of focus on lantern lore and kill off a lot of characters, and I don't see them doing that in this universe. In a green lantern centred reboot universe in the future, though? I'd love it 😀

One villain that I think would be good AFTER the main villain of the DCU is defeated is The Batman Who Laughs. He is honestly a good villain who, while I don't think would do well now because of the lack of interest in multiverse stuff, would be an amazing antagonist down the line. Plus, it would open a gate for characters like Red Death(my man NEEDS redemption after what The Flash did to him)
@-AaronBlack-18 күн бұрын
Why does there always have to be one big bad ? The dc universe and marvel universe have both followed that trope for way too long, there are many different villains who are world ending or universe ending threats who deserve their own movies, just treat the universe like the comics and the movies will actually do well for once
@geraldcleveland6207Күн бұрын
It’s crazy! These people forget that a cinematic universe is supposed to be an anthology series each having its own distinct style, mature rating and genre. Not the formulaic MCU copy + paste movies that these people have normalised and adapted into their heads, which is why every time I get this type of videos recommended to me I just roll my role eyes because I know they're just going to use the same old DC villains that we’ve seen a 1000 times who are mostly endgame bosses anyways, it doesn’t help as well when there head canon cinematic universe is just the same structure as the MCU.

I think Lanterns is a show rather than a movie primarily for the fact that you can spend more time developing a story in a show than in a movie. It seems like a lot will happen in the show and it’ll take its time a bit more, so the HBO show format fits it better, like The Penguin

Honestly, prob wont happen (at least not for phase one) but I honestly think itd be interesting to eventually bring in the legion of doom. I watched an MCU phase one rewrite that had zemo lead a team that was built up from other villains from the previous movies and i feel like the LoD is one of the most iconic villain groups in comics in general. Plus it'd be a good way to differentiate the DCU from other comics franchises where the plots kind of revolve around one guy being the mastermind behind apocalyptic flavor of the month.
