True, I am really enjoying slowly reading those individual contained stories like Harley Quinn's run on Conley Island, which is more fun than I thought it would be. And some Power Girl stuff, I dipped into Metal and I don't think I liked it that much, it's serviceable but setting a "before the of humans" type of storyline for Batman and making him a gateway to the dark universe and having these precious metals being so central to the story was just, idk, too dumb and hard to follow? I just want Batman to be a street hero, solve mysteries and take down crimelords, these cosmic storylines are just not that enjoyable to me.

My best example (actually comes from that one animated movie with the justice league dark fighting our justice league but their owl man finding the original earth and trying to blow it up. batman sends owl-man to an alt earth instead of ending from which all other earth are reflections essentially saving all of reality)

I think it’s weird what DC is doing. This all started with the promise they would fix Flashpiont with the rebirth even and introduced Dr. M as the force behind the change which lead into watchmen which started as a flash story revealing at the end to be all about Superman but then they took a hiatus for awhile when everyone forgot about it and the ending was bitter sweet but while all this was going on the metal stuff was happen but pretty soon that became the main focus and essentially rewrote rebirth aside from a few references to it what the hell is happening here and now no more reboot events are promised and we don’t know what this new canon while be what if it bad while dc still stick with it

Imagine how tough it would be for a director to sell a narrative to the audience that there are multiple versions of superheros in different universes all the time giving each of the charecter ample time to establish themselves in the audience mind within a span of 2 hours. Things like this really don't work that well in live action. A lot of DC characters have powered that heavily rely on the use of CGI to make work, and I personally feel that that is one of the issues DC faces in its live action movies. Batman is usually successful because he is more grounded which makes it easier to tell his stories. Animated movies have it much easier telling stories like Death Metal and Flashpoint.

This is absolutely riveting! Like, I can’t really explain how vast this story really is. It might be the fact that everything exists and kinda doesn’t, how meta the story actually is because of the story is DC comics as a whole, how Doctor Manhattan became a part of this by creating the New 52, the fact that this is possibly leading to something new, something different from before. I have no idea where the writers are taking this but I’m super excited. Ugh. Just... too big. DC just keeps making its super crossover events bigger and bigger, and it just feels so overblown. I'm so tired of the world ending, and then the universe ending, and then the multiverse ending, and then the omniverse ending, and then the megaverse, and hyperverse, and spectraverse, and all of literature, and on and on. They've always got to outdo themselves with the next ultracosmic cataclysm. And of course, now everything has to be all metatextual! Because they're so self-aware now that they're practically hugging you through the paper. And that's neat now and then, but man, are they laying it on thick lately. And the thing is, these "Crisis" events actually make good sense! Rebooting continuity by making a new universe every couple of decades is a smart arrangement. I hope they don't think they need to try the Marvel model! I mean, I love Marvel, but they say that everything that ever happened in any of their primary comics is canon, except it's on a sort of sliding scale, and that's just freaking ridiculous. There's too much in that entire history to fit in a half-century, let alone the last thirty years, but we're expected to believe that Peter Parker's still in his twenties? I hated the perpetual reboots at DC for a while, but I have to admit that it's simply the best way to manage a continuity this big and still keep things fresh. I understand the need to start over now and then, and I encourage it! But why does it always have to be such a huge damn deal? Every thirty years or so, just introduce a new universe! Doesn't have to be a big, terrible crisis with gods and monsters. Just say it's time to check out the next Earth over! Wrap up some storylines, let Batman get married and Clark and Lois have kids, and then turn our attention to a fresh slate! That way the characters can have overarching plots with real conclusions and we can maintain a sense of progression without sacrificing anyone's mythos. And we don't have to keep blowing up the whole of creation! It's exciting enough when Superman saves one universe, we don't need him to save a thousand other cosmoses to boot. At least, not so often. After a while it becomes old hat!

Because DC notices that the main problem with their comics is that their is no clear story because of so many retcons while Marvel has less retcons and many of their massive events are canon.
