Dr Brubaker, Respect is *EARNED* and you certainly earn respect, you do this by your calm demeanour and inquiring mind. you articulate your findings in a logical, clear and simple manner for the lay person to comprehend and remember (the art of a gifted teacher). The points that you make are truthful, factual, obvious and cannot be argued against. This is why The followers of the Islamic Ideology attack you personally. They believe that by discrediting you.... that they discredit your research. This is such a ridiculous argument that it should be ignored. It's as foolish as asking a native Arabic speaker who can speak English as a second language, to translate "Chaucer's, Canterbury Tales!" But if that same person had multiple different early copies of "Canterbury Tales," they could easily see the differences, the mistakes and over written parts of the various manuscripts. The problem with "blind faith" is that you can be lead down a blind alley! An inquisitive mind is a free mind. Please keep publishing your findings and exposing the truth. While I respect the right of anyone to publicly criticize, I do not intend to respond directly to every apologist or polemicist who comes chasing after me; I am not myself pursuing a course of apologetics or polemics, so such responses would take me down a road that would likely distract from my main work. Many such critiques will be answered, anyway, in my ongoing publications and responses to academic criticisms. Modern arabic speakers in a lot of parts of the world trying to discredit your work over minor pronunciation issues are just grasping at straws and miss the point completely. Its like an American from Boston or the deep south attacking someone who studies old English for the way they speak the language. These things change over time a bit depending on what part of the world and culture people are from. It has nothing to do with the quality of the scholarly work.

How could he ever expect people to understand a book that requires not only learning a complicated archaic language, but also a lifetime of study? Is this meant to be a revelation to all mankind? Fortunately, these arguments are not really valid arguments. You start off with the assumption of a "divine book" and then draw the picture of a book unlike all others, that cannot be understood by anyone except islamic scholars. Well, it is sort of a book unlike all others, but it certainly isn't impossible to get a grasp of it from outside the islamic scholarhood. All you do by drawing that picture is rejecting all criticism from outside the islamic world, because you are (apparently) afraid of harm to Islam itself. I need to reject your criticism of Dr. Brubaker as a "scam" and your trying to discredit this gentleman. He presents changes in early quranic manuscripts. These changes do exist. There is nothing wrong with doing this and if you have comments on his arabic or possible missunderstandings of his, he invited everyone watching these videos on several occasions to just leave a comment on the matter so that he will have a look into it. Please don't disregard Dr. Brubaker with silly ad hominem arguments and come up with some real arguments.

Can you or anyone else translate your book to the Indonesian language? Indonesia is one of the Muslim majority countries in the world. In the last ten years, Muslims in Indonesia are more and more radical than before. Greetings Dr. Brubaker, I am an Iranian, with Shia Muslim heritage, and I would have to say for you to make an effort and understand the linguistic nuances of old Arabic texts, is something amazing, given that you don't even live in proximity to the Middle East. That is something that many traditional Muslim scholars lack, as their way of learning the scriptures is quite pedantic and aimless. Regarding Dr. Yasir Qadhi, I believe he is more of a political figure than a religious one. That is obvious from his rhetoric, as he just distances himself from acadmic life and academic ethics everyday. On the other hand, you have been able to present a much more honest work without attempting to dictate anything on the believers or telling them how they should think. This shows you have more respect for your audience and do not come with a Christian agenda as some of these politicied scholars claim you to be. They ruin the image of faith, and Islam, more than any outsiders at this point. I have read your book and it has helped me in many ways to understand the history of the Quran and Islam. It was very disheartening to hear in the news of certain Christian apologist whom passed away back in May has been recently exposed as a fraud. Well done Dr Brubaker, I have your book ‘Corrections in the early Quran’ and I find it very revealing. Religious apologists will stop at nothing to mislead and deceive. They don’t mind that they are liars, they don’t mind that they are boring, they don’t even mind that they are obviously ignorant and wrong - because most of the people they are fooling are either children, despondent, naive or gullible people.
