Wow, I am so impressed by this video. You did great explaining scientific topics to a general audience. There need to be more plant tubers sharing scientific info on the bio of plants on here. I think most people are afraid no one will be interested in these complicated topics but they give us a better understanding of what is really going on rather than spreading around old wives tales. I appreciate your respect for your viewer’s intelligence and hope you make more videos like this! I think you found your niche!

Trivia but related: calico cats are chimeric, also. Mine has spots that are clearly orange tabby/marmalade and pure black spots on a white “field”. She’s almost like a half-moon cat, though, because the black spots are only on one side of her body (but more symmetrical on her head and her entire tail is black). It’s sad that I have to keep chopping her to keep her from reverting, though. 😢 🔪 😿

Great video. Thank you for explaining the science behind variegations. If you want video ideas... can you do a video explaining what exactly all the different terms for lighting mean? For example what exactly counts as bright light, or low light, what about dappled light, etc. How far from the window does the bight light turn into medium light? Maybe what I consider bright light might not be what everyone else does.

This is super informative thank you! I’ve got a quick question, I have a tricolour wandering Jew, and I’ve noticed that the leaf variegations tend to repeat on each vine (so I have a vine of half and half, a vine of single green stripe, etc. I love the effect, (and it means I can propagate the variegations that I love the most and give them as presents), but do you know what causes the patterns to repeat instead of being random? Thank you, love your content!

Actually I think PPP has transposon induced variegation. I know it has the reputation to revert easilly but once the plant is established even long time reverted stems puch out highly variegated leaves. Besides it does have that random speckled patern. Also it's not the only plant like that. Philodendron ilsemanii is also known as transposon induced variegated plant and it does also suppress it's variegation when stressed.
