Simply one of the best American actors ever. He’s on the Mount Rushmore of non-leading men. There’s literally no circumstance in which Turturro popping up in a movie doesn’t add something good.

Turturro has turned in *SOOO* many incredible character performances, it's unreal. He really disappears into those roles, and I love that.

I loved his performance in "Quiz Show". For those who haven't seen it, it was a dramatization about the rigging of the 1950s quiz show "Twenty-One". He portrayed one of the contestants, student Herb Stempel, while Ralph Fiennes was his competitor, college professor Charles Van Doren. It probably would have won Best Picture at the Oscars if it didn't have such stiff competition in that category that year.

One of our very best actors for 40+ years. I read he turned down returning for the streaming Penguin series out of concern for the potential for violence against women in the show. It's a fictional part bit I do respect his position.
