I wasn't being lazy this time I was watching, I was cleaning and rewaxing plastic frames😂 black plastic frames too, trying to fix a wonky patchy drawn brood comb problem for a hobbyist. Stripped the darn things off and started again with a decent coat of wax, where the patches are the foundation is as barren as the Sahara, but I have to say I prefer wood frames with wax foundation. If ever I hated the darn plastic things before I loathe them now😂 I've never had to wire brush clean foundation before 😳 so watching you treat bee's was a good distraction 😅 I hope this product keeps your mites down I think it's a good addition. Anything that keeps mites low has got to be a win. Might rewatch, I've still got three frames to sort out, thank goodness its only one super🤦😂👍 great video 👍👋

I started my first use of Formic Pro 5 days ago. You caught Covid about the same time I did. I'm in Southern Maine.

If you find your queen on a frame when looking to do an alcohol or Dawn test, I would remove that frame and not put it back in your hive until after you shook the bees for the test. I suspect your fastmoving queen had quickly gotten over to that frame just 2 frames away and luckily she did not get into the catch pan.

I have a serious concern about Varoxan. Being so easy weeks are going to get lazy and only use it and leave it in year round. In other words constant selection pressure for resistant mites. I don't think we learned anything from our experience with apistan and apivar.

I have heard the VarroxSan is to be used to maintain Varroa levels, not to knock down high levels of varroa. Is this true?
@BeekeepingwithTheBeeWhisperer2 ай бұрын
Yes my understanding is that it is good to hold them down not to get them down.

Im all done with plastic frames. Warped and bowed in just minutes in the sun. Not worth saving a quarter.

Funny, I was fixing a hobbyist black plastic brood box frames while watching this, I have to say using a wire brush to clean foundation is a first😂 I definitely loathe the blasted things now. Tried to clean one off with hot water, it didn't end well, had to make a trip into town to get a replacement from farmlands 😂 don't clean with hot water 😂 I'm sticking to the old school wood frames and wax foundation 👍😂
