Rover being strong also feels canonically correct. In the cutscene leading to the Crownless fight, Rover has no issue pushing back against Crownless, then looking very confident. Against Cammelya, Rover overpowers Cammelya with ease. In one of the last cutscenes, Rover and Jiyan swing around and slice through boulders like it's no business. What I'm trying to say is: In other gacha games *cough* Hoyo-Games *cough*, the MC is shown fighting incredibly strong enemies, but, aside from Kiana, the actual characters that would do the fighting are pitifully weak. Meanwhile, Rover winning a fight against Crownless or Dreamless feels right because their character is actually strong.

Making Rover a solid DPS/sub DPS character is a good way to reflect his/her actual power level in the main story. I really like it because I'm the type of player who uses MC while completing the main story. It makes the immersion in the storyline a good experience.

Thankfully tower of adversity creates up to 3 parties that can potentially rock and with the extra advantage of only having to run 3 units per party, means builds are rather tight in a good way for build flexibility. So Rover being able to play in 3 of the roles and likely the same exact build as main DPS that they can play as support is just a win too.

They'll always have a place in the meta since they would already be built by the people who committed to them. WuWa has a very pricey energy system and farming for resources takes a while. Trying to build a new character is a pain, especially if the world level increases and your current characters still need to catch up.

Another big plus to Rover (and especially Havoc Rover) is just how different Havoc Rover looks, feels, and plays from Spectro Rover. The completely different mood and animation sets helps really sell Rover as a free character that people would *want* to use, because the change in animations, attack, and playstyle makes the new elemental variant of Rover more novel and thus more appealing. I for one can't wait to see what the other elemental variants of Rover are like in the future, because I was seriously impressed with Havoc Rover.

GI devs could never count on it! After experiencing WuWa's quality of life I can't even imagine going back to GI despite I prefer GI esthetics and chapter design more over WuWa. The gap quality of gameplay is just so big. Just the way of traversing the open world alone is much better. In GI you have to have at least C2 Yelan, Sayu, Qaching & Kirara to somehow have somewhat similar traversing convenience but still the gap is way too big.

@@mredizon00 well, they’ve been stepping up their game on the traversal end, with the mechanics in Sumeru and Chenyu Vale, it almost feels like they inspired the grapple mechanic for wuwa, but they’re also relatively simple designs so it could just be a coincidence. But the creatures shown off in the Nathan teaser are probably Genshin’s next reworking of overworld traversal. Personally though characters like Sayu get me from chest to chest or whatever I’m collecting well enough that I don’t mind. Besides both games have beautiful worlds to look at and it feels like a shame to just speedrun through them as quickly as possible

I was so incredibly scared to try out WW despite my immense desire and interest because of the intro/outro dodge and parry combat mechanic since I am TRASH at those, I’m a mobile player and can’t dodge for shit😭😂 But surprisingly it has made me a lot better at it!! I find this style of combat super cool and I can’t wait to see where the story will go so I’m all the more happy that the game “forcing” me to learn how to dodge and parry is actually a really fresh new take~

@@LuisBrito-ly1ko sure, they may use it only in specific areas, but they seem to only use it in the larger regions, like Sumeru, where everything is much more spread out and everything is farther apart. That being said the only places where mechanics like those aren’t present at all are in mondstat and Liyue, both of which where available on release so they may have been an idea that was come up with after the initial launch of the game, so they may have made each of the traversal mechanics unique in each region as to not make the lack of them in mondstat and Liyue stand out as much. I think it shows that Mihoyo is able to listen to feedback and change their game for the better according to said feedback, it’s just that they are moving at a disappointingly slow pace in proportion to the size of their game and player base. But, here’s hoping that Kuro’s readiness to respond to their community shows Hoyo that they should step up their game

The real answer for "why no one plays %charactername" would be "not enough resin to build more characters to be powerful enough with difficulty spike at Sol-3 level 2 and 3". I played Chixia, Yuanwu, Spectro Rover, Danjin, Aalto at the start, but as the world level went up, I couldn't afford to level all of them past lvl 40

The fact that Rover straight up can be played as a main dps, a sub dps (slow field, plus can apply a Spectro RES down once they give the remaining wavebands because some reason they split 2 off to havoc) and a support (Heal equal to attack over 5 seconds for party). Already proves that Rover`s VANILLA kit blows every single starter character in all 3 Mihoyo games out of the water. Since Trailblazer wants to immediately abandon physical for Preservation and there was only 2 outta 5 times Traveler was relevant, as an Energy battery for Electro which is THREE nations in and Dendro which is more due to the mechanic instead. Doesnt help either that elemental `react` system as a whole only works if you can repeatedly apply the procs, which is why off-field effects like xianling, Fischal and moar were so popular even back in year 1 of the game. So unless Traveler has something like Benny`s elemental skill except its say, 3 or more charges of fire slashes and the ultimate just causes some kind of periodic volcanic eruption in a field, just like how denro works, then its already dead on arrival. Doesnt help that Dendro straight up killed any care for building anything else unless its busted as fk, because why have to think when you can just spawn bombs and they blow stuff up? Only when Dendro is resisted, dats what. Which imagine Dendro gets blunted in Nathlan by it causing dendro seeds to `wither` to flip off them but also they stealth nerf it so if influenced by pyro, Dendro seeds will wither before they can explode.

After playing the Traveler for so long in Genshin and being dissappointed with him in both story and gameplay, Rover feels like a breeze of fresh air. His overall kit doesn't feels like there is a ton of wasted potential, nor it feels like it was sabotage by the devs. Is great on its own, and the minor details they provide to its gameplay (like being able to change attribute from the menu, or unlocking a new Rover at the end of the story) makes it feel much more rewarding and fun. Yes, i know that he will be outclassed soon, but that's precisely what i want from him: not necessarily to be the absolute best option, but rather at least a really good one. And yea, i know he has 0 personality, but honestly, that's also what i want from him. Think about it: Mf just woke up. And there is a ton of character development potential for Rover. Imagine: at the beginning, we have this Rover, but the more we progress into the story, the more personality has. Like, for example, trailblazer 2.0. Thay I wouldn't mind.

Dunno about that "no personality" part. Rover just kinda waxes philosophical while standing still. It's, I think, implied that their wisdom is what keeps them humble and amiable despite everything. Although, another interesting part about Wuwa is that your dialogue options are pretty varied, letting you play your Rover like a treasure hunter, a humble philosopher, or yuji "I am you" itadori. I really like the last one a whole lot. The dialogue options that are somewhat bloodthirsty are still self aware enough that they don't come off as cringy, especially since there's multiple examples of TDs not being the merciless murder machines without feelings that they initially seem to be. One might even wonder what would happen to a TD exclusively fed on humans....would it, at one point, become indistinguishable from one?

I wanna mention how amazing havoc rover is for overworld exploration. Big nuke ult and skill+reset oneshots all elites, trash packs gets deleted instantly by dreamless, blobflies cant run from dreamless, super easy to farm ore with dreamless... Dreamless is kinda insane, actually

The best part about it is, dreamless has a built in buff based on havoc Rover. Meaning, one of the best echoes in the game, explicitly works best on the MC.

Another important thing is that Havoc Rover's best Echo, the Dreamless, is used not because it gives buffs, but purely because of its damage. Its damage scaling is fixed, so even though everyone's abilities are only level 4 right now, the Dreamless's damage scaling is already the max. This makes Havoc Rover extremely strong in the early to mid game, so while he may fall off and be worse than some (not even all) other 5* in endgame, he is arguably the best main DPS for early to midgame. Also note that while he does want to get his full attack string off to maximize his damage, it isnt as necessary as someone like Calcharo, so your damage doesn’t get gimped if you have to dodge. Rover also has a better Parry window than average, albeit not at Jiyan's level. This makes Rover much more forgiving

I think Wuwa can safely make the mc strong without worrying about profit margin because the combat in this game is so compelling and fun. I've enjoyed every character I have invested in so far, and each one feels unique and fun to play. Aesthetics and enjoyable combat while also fitting into quite a few teams is a perfect reason for pulling characters. Power creep is not needed in a game like this imo.

I really like how casually dressed male Rover is honestly, he looks well dressed but nothing too crazy and over the top. I really enjoy playing as him because his relatively normal appearance in such a crazy and over the top world makes him look more badass doing the dodges and parries imo. Female Rover on the other hand, while I can see the appeal I also think its trying to hard, but I guess it kinda has that fem fatale energy to it.

I tried Havoc for a little bit, but ended up realizing that I prefer the jack of all trades approach over the flying mechanics Havoc gets. the incorporation of echoes into combat was a brilliant move by the devs since (i haven't seen anyone else discuss this) the enemies in this game are FUCKING DOPE!!! the animations, the fluid movements the fucking DESIGN!!! the opening scene with the crownless, the world bosses! (except for the ice bug) the dreamless fight! it might be because the MC as you said is a bit bland but instead of highlighting the pull banner units ive consistently found myself more impressed by the enemies in this game. while i was filling out my data bank i had some fun trying to guess which move the enemies used that would be the inherited echo skill. think about that, genshin had one fire fatui pull off a ninja move and the rest of the game was slimes and hilichurls. HSR was cool but the climax for the 3rd world was a deer and a tree. dont get me wrong the story implications and combat in the games is cool but if there was a banner to play as a unit that transforms into dreamless ala firefly & they would sell

Glad you decided to make content , talking about Wuthering Waves! I started playing HSR in February and even tried Genshin, but quit bc it didn’t felt rewarding enough to play/combat wasn’t as interesting, if you don’t have units that are actually fun to play. WuWa makes so much right and it needs alle the love. Combat feels much smoother/fast paced and it doesn’t feel as stale to explore the overworld Although I’m kinda sad the community around the game became quite hostile after the launch problems, I think this game has really good potential to be successful.

Genshin was hell without Bennett for me in the early game. You take too long to kill anything, and the combat was like Skill> Basic> Dash then maybe swap. I was so unlucky. But after getting Furina, it was kinda fast, but at that point I was so fed up with the mats availability.

If PGR "Element" system is anything to go by, you won't just need, says, 2 teams for 2 sides of Spiral Abyss/MOC; you will instead need 6 teams in accordance to 6 elements, and there will eventually be DPS and buffers dedicated to each one. The game is gonna make ALL of these teams load out have their moments in the game (like War Zone mode in PGR). In essence, powercreep can and will happen, but it's gonna take a while to fill up all the vacant roles for each element before that role would be replaced. Ofc this is just mere guesswork, but since WuWa elements system aren't strictly meant for specific in-game purpose, it can be speculated that each of them can be an in-game niche not overlapping with others in specific, mandatory game content.

@@craigtrish2011 I mean if you just look at the tower of adversity its pretty much like Pain Cage in PGR, you would need a char. that will get buff in certain tower adding it has timer so its much more needed to have specific element char. especially main DPS and its much more preferable if you got 3 Aero char. etc doing it sooooo yeah. While it sucks for Aero which don't really have many dps characters, Electro has Calcharo already, next lets say Jinhsi is Spectro so a Spectro Tower, making Rover very nice for that tower as well, and the middle tower where the 2 100 level bosses are free of the elemental constraint for now, the biggest problem is elemental resistance on enemies, they take a lot of less dmg if your dmg is the same as their element.

Well WuWa has actually circumvented a way so that even if you use Rover as main you'd still probably want to add a few more just as strong or stronger DPS. Tower of Adversity alone requires you to have 3 teams to clear all of it. I wouldn't be surprised if they add further end game content that would require multiple teams as well but with some added twists and mechanics

I main Rover before Havoc meta was known because Female Rover looks so slick and beautiful (she looks wonderful in cutscenes too!) I was pleasantly surprised when the havoc meta become common knowledge and I give it a try and it is wonderful! Keep in mind that we still have 4 more constellation that will make Havoc even stronger! I know they will not make MC top tier and new chara will bring in new meta but just having a cool and competent MC is enough to makes me happy

​@@someonesomewhere8658 I wouldn't be so sure. Many would say it's the other way around, but I've seen why spectro Rover is good. Slow-down outro skill, really good attacks for parrying, amazing counter attack, good liberation (support), etc. In general, spectro Rover is an all-rounder character that can do it all and should be used as a sort of "anchor" for your team, should things get bad. Havoc Rover, however, is an absolute beast. Get his 3rd resonance chain, his passive skills, and baizhi or flower girl's damage buff (their own+echo set), equip him with dreamless, give him that one sword which boosts damage through the intro skill, and you got yourself a walking nuke. It's unironically hilarious to pre-charge his mode by using his resonance skill on the air, since it doesn't need to hit to charge, and start a battle as your support. Just set up those buffs, and intro skill in Rover. Activate the mode (hopefully you hit the activation explosion, since the 3rd resonance chain makes it inflict weakness to havoc damage), activate the resoncance liberation, activate dreamless, and then either switch out, or ride out the rest of the mode with your insane damage. And this is without factoring in characters like Sanhua which boosts your basic attacks... Long story told short: Spectro to survive, Havoc to kill.

I always try to play Lumine in the Archon story quests, but before dendro it became harder the farther you progressed in the game. The gacha MC's are supposed to be the "Chosen One" but they're usually out classed by the SR/4-stars. It makes no sense story-wise. It makes perfect sense financially, of course. I'm glad Kuro bit the bullet on this one and gave us an MC who can stand alongside the better characters in the game.

Kuro Games powercreep if they release a Gen2 Characters that have a mechanic, abilities, and stats that can overshadow other characters but in PGR (other kuro game) older characters have a buff called leap skill because this they still available in other content except some dmg check.

S.Rover is a really good support for spectre dps. They act as a healer, damage enabler, and aoe nuker H.Rover is a straight-up dps bomb for Havoc.

This actually made me realize that in every Gacha game that is similar to genshin, almost all MC are feeling lackluster in their kits. Not only that almost all MC male or female aren't used at all due to the accessible amount of units given you, good kits and synergies and even by looks alone isn't enough. Wuthering Waves Mc ACTUALLY has a good build and can be used early to end game. With Spectro rover, early players has a sub dps, healer and team accessibility use early game. IF they unlock Havoc Rover by progressing through the story, they can feel what its like to have an end game player build set up as a F2P while incentivizing how to progress in improving builds instead of being forceful due to "Meta" this or "making fun of you for building said character".

I think what's great about Rover and even Trailblazer in HSR is that their power isn't just something that happens from plot holes (by that I mean how in Genshin, traveller literally just has to touch a statue and they get the power of the element), but instead the powers they gain are directly linked to the story. Think of Fire Trailblazer in HSR how the first time we see the power is in a fight against a world boss and same with Rover where the first time we see Havoc power is against the world boss. The fact they're linked to the story means that they SHOULD be powerful and good, serving as a baseline of a decent/great unit for whatever role they are used in. The reason why Genshin MC is bad in all elements is from a previous video I think mentioned where it's because the MC is just used as an intro to the interactions of the element, and not as a permanent option to use. For physical trailblazer, vars also pointed out that they're a jack of all trades and master of none, but they're just there because that's the first power they came with and so it's obviously going to be pretty weak in general storywise. Yet as the story progresses you can really tell that they are viable as a unit with the new powers they gain. For rover, not only are the new powers great but also the beginning power because as pointed in the video, it's tied to the combat system of WuWa in addition to being tied to the storyline which is what makes spectro and havoc rover great in their respective fields.

Rover feels good as his main goal is to give the player one good until they get their own team built. One good unit means a unit you can relay upon rather than a unit you nod your head at and shove into the waiting bench for any other character you get instead of them. His move set is good, his swap skills are good, and depending on what you pull you have variety to have him help out make your teams. Need DPS as you mostly got other pulls? Second form Rover. Got your DPS, but need support or a unit to help support you until you are now 'good' with your new main DPS? Pull out classic Rover. With Genshin Impact... Yes the 'elements' do play a part in it... But in all honesty the Traveler is there to collect a harem and be your utility tool used to solve puzzles. Not actually be useful in a fight.

Funny thing is, in their other game pgr, there is a unit called Lee: Palefire that is a 4 star equivalent (It is refer to as A in the game) is considered one of the meta dps in a fire team comp when he was given a leap skill. He just got replaced by literally himself called Hyperreal LOL.

I think the argument of "I have a good 5 star right of the bat, so I wont pull for anything" just falls flat immediately. The average person gets bored of one character probably within 2 weeks max. Not pulling in a Gacha game is also absolutely weird. Thats more of a challenge account kinda thing. I have never met anyone who played a Gacha game and didn't want to pull for better character or at least different characters.

I've been using F.MC spectro rover as my main dps as I build them up and Havoc on the side should the right echo's come along, but assuming Kuro sticks to how they have handled PGR and its characters, Rover should have a good future and possible buff/upgrade should they start to lag behind, but only if Kuro sticks to not entirely copying Hoyo's stance on not buffing characters and there entire kit post release (with the exception of Zhongli). I doubt they will ever reach the heights they are currently experiencing with future characters coming out, but it's been great to feel somewhat rewarded in a way for being someone who usually tries to main the MC in these games with a selection.

3rd strongest dps after Jiyan and Encore. With the 2nd best team dps after Jiyan hypercarry. With best echo and speedrun capability. What a beast of an unit. Not even Fire TrailBlazer or Dendro Traveler were like this initially. FMC failed as a solo sustain with the poor resource at the time over Natasha and March, nonetheless Bailu and Gepard. Lynx later made it worse. Dendro MC was competitive with Collei but Collei performed better for anyone with good rotation understanding of the team they played (Keqing,Nilou, Yae) but DMC was just easy and a must for Cyno. Nahida came and they lost everything, other Dendro also made them lose their comfort niche. Dendro MC was carried by the lack of dendro support while there wasn't a lack of sustain for TrailBlazer or DPS for Havoc MC. Despite LingYang, Calcharo, Danjin, Chixia and other existing, they still ends at 3rd best. Havoc MC is probably currently better than Harmony TrailBlazer honestly. Havoc Rover is good in a vaccum and doesn't need anything outside Dreamless echo to shine. While Harmony MC does open Break team, Ruan Mei is necessary to make the team competitive. Then Gallagher as healer because of break need for non-dps build with Super break like Boothil and Firefly. It makes the team.of Harmony Trailblazer very restrictive right now and match other crit team only when all condition are met. One thing missing and the whole damage for apart.

Also wanna say that one of the reasons that I'd consider Rover the STRONGEST unit is because she has 2 elements. It essentially means that you have 2 characters in one. Yes, you have to farm the echoes to the respective element still, however you save character EXP, weapon materials, and pulls by investing in Rover. Note that element matters: (Spectro Rover deals less damage to Mourning Aix) Rover doesn't have that problem. You can just change to a Havoc centered build/team.

By the way, this only works because both elements are viable options for DPS. Spectro is a bit rough since there's no dedicated support for spectro, and also the fact the scalings aren't as high as Havoc. Still, she gets the job done.

I benched my Spectro rover for a while after I got Jinshi and Xhezhi, but I’ve now built up his Havoc form like yesterday, and I was amazed at how much damage he does. Definitely going to keep using him, and if he pairs well with deadly cutie Danjin, then win. Also everyone remember how much Shorekeeper wants to be on a team with Rover. They’re not falling off anytime soon with that kind of support.

Can we just take a moment to appreciate the fact that the attack animations actually change with each element... Like that is such a nice detail to further incentive you to play rover even more. I can't stand that the travelers basic attacks never change with any of the elements they use.

It's far from a bad decision, rather a good one. When you hear a gacha game finally has a decent MC (as a playable character), it'll attract tourists that are possibly going to be patrons. Other than that, factors such as the upcoming characters' aesthetic design and writing can carry hard, at least according to the empirical research I did for my master thesis (although prominently shown as well such as in the case of HSR's Firefly, who already started gathering potential pullers even before the SAM revelation and her gameplay).

The reason why I built Havoc Rover is because Spectro is kind of equatable to the Light element and Havoc is kind of Shadow and whenever there is something usable like Shadow or Void I love it. But Jesus the amount of damage she can shit out is crazy. 23k crit on her ult and she is not even optimally built and I don't have Danjin. I also think WuWa requires more damage dealers built for the Tower than Genshin or Starrail.. I've just today finished the second stage and unlocked the last one and there are three areas, each costs 5 vigor, two areas with 4 levels iirc and one with 2 which is 10 levels in total. Each level costing 5 vigor at minimum and counting two damage dealers per level means we'd need at least ten damage dealers fully built to be able to finish all of the content in the tower. (Correct me if I am wrong though, I am just going off of very vague memory here and I'm pretty tired, so maybe I made a mistake here) Nevertheless, since Yinlin is pretty much Kafkas twin she will be pulled for sure.
