Also don't care how much ppl downplay him your just swapping an easy mode character from a sweaty hard core one, every person has their type of playstyle some love the nitty gritty and some like the chill type. My best electro gear is still on Calcharo I'm just waiting on more types of supports and gear sets in the future that will make him complete.

Calcharo is the diluc of wuwa, an extremely hyped character that everyone usted and had a high tier at lunch but then people noticed their flaws and got replaced by another five star who appeared just a few months after launch who use their same teams (diluc --> klee --> hu tao) (calcharo --> xiangli Yao)

​​@@miraqen7801Calcharo actually deals a lot of damage and still is enough to clear the Tower without any requirement of another premium unit. Not to mention, Diluc was saved by a character years away from his release. Before Xianyun, Klee and Hutao rendered him obsolete. What was powercrept is his strict playstyle with little room for mistakes. Playing him is like playing Danjin near perfectly. Meanwhile, diluc needs xianyun and a hydro applicator. I use Diluc for burgeon though and he's great there. I'm not pulling for a premium character just to make him work when I could just use hyperbloom or Arlecchino.

You are the FIRST content creator I have heard pronounce his name correctly, so you get an instant like for that LOL. I love Calcharo's design and I am eagerly awaiting his story quest so I'm devastated he's fallen off so hard, but I still use him since I haven't finished building my Xiangli Yao yet. I know the Kuro devs listen to their players, but I won't get my hopes up that they make Calcharo more playable in the future. I will just continue to enjoy him from a lore & design perspective, and use him for less difficult content.

Yeah, I think they should make his current optimal playstyle optional instead of being a borderline necessity so that he's at least more enjoyable to play for casuals. Anyone who says "skill issue" can go stuff it, yeah I'm not great at the game, I know. But there's also nothing wrong with making a unit more fun and satisfying to play. Besides, any QoL changes will most likely benefit even skilled players by increasing his damage ceiling so it'll be a win for everyone.

He is still fine for a Standard 5 star but compared Limited Char. he kinda bit weak (i mean every standard char. is bit weak compare to limited anyways except Encore probably). If they just allow him get killing intent with Resonance skill when in liberation by 2, this could easily fix his awkward playstyle and lower liberation CD a bit also.

I play Calamari the same way I play Danjin. They help you play better due to their strict and unforgiving playstyle. When played well, Cucaracha could still clear the tower. Also, holy Sephiroth. His design is cool.

Chicharron has a pretty good range for a broadblade user. Chuppacabra's first BA and plunge attack can easily parry enemy's attacks. Also, Chimpanzee excell in quickswap team due to his multiple skill activation and Liberation intro. One of the few things that bring Chocobo down was the best in slot echo for him is just as clunky as him. Overall Chimeramon is a really fun character to learn due to his high skill ceiling and I can't thank him enough for carrying me through the first 6 act.

Though I agree with almost everything in this video, there is 1 thing you forgot to mention. Attack speed is an existing buff in the game. It is widely used in DIR. If future support comes that gives insane attack speed bonus, Calcharo will benefit immensely. Meanwhile Xiangli Yao potential is capped, because his ult can only do 3 empowered skill. Attack speed, if ever exist in a support, can boost Calcharo heavily.

Another thing is that XY has his Sig weapon while LaCucaracha doesn’t. None of the 5* broadsword work that well on him as a sig weapon and the 4* bp weapon doesn’t have enough raw stat

Funny enough im in the opposite situation. Didnt have the funds to pull XY sig and have both jiyan and standard banner broadswords for carrot. Which while I agree fully he doesn't utilise either of those weapons; its much better than XL options. The standard 5* is quite meh for him and even the 2nd BiS in slot the BP gloves still do quite less dmg than my carrot on the 5* broadswords via my testing with the 2 having the same lvls including talents and weapons and both sharing the same echo set. Not saying your point is wrong what so ever just wanted to rant bout how skipping XL screwed me over.

​@@popkhorne5372it was actually an indirect nerf since back then any sub dpses used to just give you the buff with no penalty if you do the exact same rotation which limited the freedom on mechanics of each characters since one tech far surpasses every single normal tech making it almost always the best rotation leaving no room for creativity they had to remove it for balance since combat will be too bland for not just the current characters but also the future ones but ended up scalping calcharo in the process

Just 12/12 the right side tower with him (jinhsi weapon) and chixia (she is barely built), shorekeeper. Been doing 12/12 with him since start of 1.2 update. I dont ever do the animation cancel stuff lol. Powercreep is natural but he is super fun to play and bit challenging too. However he did expose a specific part of the community lol.

So my standard banner when the game first came out was Calcharo, and depite not being a fan of his aesthetic his play style was alot of fun and had alot of potential for skill expression. So I got Verina for him with the selector, and Jiyan's sword for Calcharo's weapon, then got Yinlin for him also. Fast forward to today, and Calcharo sits in the background, alittle mad as his sword is given to Jinhsi, and his team goes to Yao. Welp, so long world hopper Razor, it was a fun headcanon while it lasted.

I really wanted to like Calcharo, but he's kind of a mess. My biggest problems with him was that he can cancel his own empowered attacks by dodging and his Ult is on a timer, which means if you want to avoid losing damage you need to just face tank hits instead of dodging or waiting for an opening... It got old real fast and while I messed around with the quick swap shenanigans to try and optimize him, the return just didn't match the investment.

I picked him with the free ticket because he looked so frickin cool and I'd really like to find situations where it's like I want to choose Calcharo because he is the best dps option. It doesn't have to happen a lot, him being the best dps option, but it'd be nice to have a boss that's perfect for him, a ToA floor that's perfect for him over Xiangli Yao. Big Sigh tho, bc I doubt they'd rework his kit stuff and I think Xiangli Yao is just always gonna be better. 😔

as a hardcore player, its as simple as learning enemy movesets and timing attacks + managing concertio energy to stack buffs ( bellborne echo buff, heron buff, mephis buff) before it is full on ur yinlin and whatever sustain AND THEN start using concerto energy on all characters and in calcharo ult make use of his skill when u accidentally dogde it can cancel the long dogde animation into a basic attack, if not just dogde again or time attacks to open/stun windows enemies have.

Not going to deny Calcharo's apparent flaws, however it's mostly the casual community that's making a big deal out of Calcharo being "unusable" or super powercrept. It's those same people that jumped to WuWa cus they finally wanted a harder, combat-oriented game and then realized that the game got hands and they actually need to learn how to play their units efficiently to clear content. The "pressure range" segment in the video is immaculate and I'm glad that someone finally put it in perspective. Most casual players will perform within that 100% range, however anyone who bothers to learn him thoroughly can efficiently push like 130-135% of that range. 3DM tech has been optimized well enough to be pulled off consistently with 3 different combos depending on the situation (skill-cancel, dash-cancel, 4dm dash-cancel). His damage being semi-liberation related is a bit of a double-edged sword though. While he can't fully utilize Yinlin's buff for all of his attacks, unlike Xiangli Yao, he can utilize other buffs like Sanhua's Basic Attack DMG outro (since liberation basics are still counted as basic dmg) or even Zhezhi/Taoqi's outros if you wanna do a memey run (since his skill's multiplier adds up to around 860%). Those buffs are pretty comparable to his optimal team and still lets him clear ToA just fine. Still, I wouldn't confidently recommend Calcharo to a new/casual player as of now since he actually requires a functional brain to provide you good results. Due to his "flaws", he remains the hardest character to master so I'd argue that he'll provide you the greatest sense of reward/achievement once you learn him (if you're chasing complex gameplay). In the end of the day, I urge players to play whoever they wanna play.

That nerf to outro buffs on quick swap teams is what ultimately drove me away from the game (I was not aware of that nerf and pulled for Yinlin to enhance his teams), Calcharo was the character I wanted to main, yet I never got decent results with Yinlin and him in a team, I have an easier time clearing things by completely ditching Calcharo. Spamming dodge attacks is the best against simulations, and the enemy design was horrible for Calcharo.. It makes no sense that the most interesting aspect of the high pace combat was nerfed, making Verina the best second/third unit of every single comp because of it, and is not a question of execution proficiency, he just felt shit to play against anything but a rock... oh well now that I know that they basically redid the character but on a different unit (that I did not get) I'm even less inclined to go back. And like you mentioned, dpses in this game are graded purely against each other, regardless of element, weapon or even if they are range or "melee" (looking at the absurd aoe of the new units it makes the tiger boy and Calcharo feel pathetic) I don't see him ever recovering like someone like Diluc, who can use vape, has the highest high plunge multiplier in the whole game, being a claymore user makes his plunge spam easier to execute with bigger aoe and has his own pyro infusion (so if Bennett gets kicked out he is self-sufficient), Calcharo has no niche...

calcharo absolutely feels like the 1.0 good pick standard banner into power creeped by limited banner chars untell you get C3 or more. which then at least C6 standards at least match C2 limiteds from what ive generally felt. ya its going to take a bit to finally get that dmg on calcharo, but i got C1 on the literal selector banner(like actually 2 calcharos off 1 10pull, im fairly sure it forces selector both times, i just got absurdly lucky for double 5 star) so its only a matter of time for me to get power to the same lvl as xiangli yao

I don't understand why his fourth and fifth hit are so long that you have to dash cancel after the third to pull off the 3 enhanced attacks in his ult window. You're also not allowed to do dodge counters because they take too much time as well. It just feels like they didn't think his character design through and "finished" the playstyle only to release it as Xiangli Yao.

Nah, their gameplay is still kinda fundamentally different. I don't think any changes would be that significant, except to make him more playable..It's possible they'll still do that. They've done it in PGR. WuWa can be different though, if they're feeling like they can be a bit more stingy.

A creator named VinSenneth did a constructive breakdown of how to actually address his issues meaningfully and within the game. It was a cool video since these kinds of videos never bring up solutions. The only one ever thrown around is to just bring back the cbt swap buffs, but that won't happen.

That's the point, you need to do some tricks to overcome Calcharo's flaws. That means that the players have to do an extra effort because Calcharo is over nerfed and bad designed

I have seen showcases comparing him and XY, and tbh it really is apparent how one small mistake can cost a LOT for his overall combo as opposed to XY's. While in theory Carrot can deal more dmg, in practice it won't be rare for mess-ups to happen here and there, resulting in a drop in overall numbers due to how his kit works and it really is depressing damn

I picked Calcharo on every time he was offered for free. And I still play him. Only limited banner character i have is Yinlin for OBVIOUS/RESEARCH reasons

i'm actually surprised not a lot of people play him, i actually built him when xiangli yao dropped and calcharo damage is really good, granted you need 3 death messenger to output really good damage, it's strict but it's fun and rewarding, i can honestly say him with changli or yinlin is one my fastest team on tower

I think one simple buff that would benefit Calcharo and some other characters is to have their dodge counter attack actually build their gauge.

Feel free to correct me, but doesn't Calcharo's dodge counter inside his Res Liberation change into a free Death Messenger? I'm certain that's what it is as someone who uses him as his Main Electro DPS.

No. His liberation dodge counter doesnt even stack his Forte. Only his 5th basic attack after the dodge counter

Calcharo getting top 28s speedrun 0+1 record with XLY points to future niche. Without a matching 5* limited weapon Calcharo is said to do 60% of dps in Cal/XLY dual carry. Time slow of XLY really make DM more practical and burst extension means 4DM is possible on moving enemies. With more control based characters plus a liberation weapon, Calcharo can make a general comeback. The character that is having a problem in the speedrun meta is yinlin.

As someone who has Calculator as my very first standard 5 star, I am very heartbroken. I would have thought that Computer would be in par with my Jiyan before I got Jinhsi and Changli. Then Xiangli Yao came out and was given to us for free, and Calamari soon deteriorated in my usage. Carbonara deserves better. And I do hope California would be in the meta in the future. :') But until then, rest in peace Calendar.

Chimichanga had a cool play style when I first saw him and contemplated on getting Chimichurri for my free 5 star voucher but decided not to after reading all his skills. Cunnilingus was the most hyped character especially by CC's given his looks and game play so they overlooked his downsides. Although hoping Capitalism gets buffed by Kuro in the future even though I don't use him at all.

He's a beast of a bosser, but needs hands. Best in dual dps comps for sure. With Yao or Changli and Shorekeeper. I just wish his liberation lasted a couple seconds longer. There is a chance of Kuro buffing him in the future, maybe when he gets intruduced to the story.

IMHO, it feels like it's another "Genshin 1.0 tierlist" situation, where characters were more or less solely judged by what they can do alone or with some Sanhua buffs, but since Calcharo was so hyped alongside Yinlin, that boosted his standing in the community, as outside Jiyan with Mortefi, he was the only other character that had a workable team when it came to DPS. Hell, I remember my girl Jianxin being considered B tier at best in the early tier lists, hell, even Encore was seen as sub par in some lists that I've seen, and we know now what she's fully capable of. So yea, as people got better at understanding teams and how the game works, the flaws Calcharo had could no longer hide behind "I have a proper team and you don't", so his fall from grace feels worse than it actually is because of all the hype he had, hell, people were rerolling accounts just to get him and Verina together due to the hype around him.

1.0 rating was heavily influenced by beta theorycrafting, at that time calculator was actually really good and did hide his clunkiness but after changing how both him and yinlin work the synergy was no more that amazing

Encore + Sanhua was available at the start and still performs at the level of limited DPSs, Calcharo was just heavily nerfed at release and so was overrated from the start based on his beta performance

@@27Ganon Shanhua was available to pretty much everyone, so I wouldn't count that as a "proper team". I mean, you're giving 2 really good generic supports to Encore and it's a solid team, sure, but you can do the same with almost every other DPS at the time, and it would be a solid functional team.

Cucaracha was my second 5* and I loved every minute of him after Yinlin I knew he was getting stronger but pulling of his dmg is too much of a hassle so when Genos came sadly Calculator had to be send to the farm upstate, he is still mildly invest but I just don't have the time to master him.

used to play him alot but when xiangli yao a free 5 star came along that uses the exact same echoes and filled in the exact same role but i didnt have to stress tryharding the rotations on every fight i insta switch, even tho the dps in the end is kinda the same (if played well), feels bad how dirty they did to him so fast...
