Vaseline Resist Technique for Gel Printing

This video is another video that shows you something you can do with your gel prints to save ones you are not happy with. I am showing you how to do the Vaseline resist technique on gel prints you have already printed. All you need is your regular printing supplies, stencils and a small jar of petroleum jelly.

Yes, I have used it when refinishing furniture and painting vintage looking signs. It works great for that.

Thank you for sharing this. What a great technique! I love the grungy look. I just learned two brilliant ideas. The Vaseline techniques AND using a small gelli as the palette for the paint. Revived my motivation. What do you call the round tool you use on the paper?

Well thank you. You can also use a piece of cardboard covered in aluminum foil and taped around the back as a palette and then both plates are free to use at once. The round thing is a printmaking barren. It is used to apply even pressure to the print.

Gotta try this. Thank you for showing it. And ……. I’ve been looking for that stencil you used on the second example, I have the small one and really want the big one. Did you purchase a long time ago? I can’t find it now…..I would love to know where you purchased it.

Those are all really old stencils I got in a lot from a yard sale years ago so I don't know what the brand is.
