My grandma discovered this hack cooking for the CCC camps. Her husband was the the road engineer. She would rinse her cleaning cloths in the cold stream and they never smelled. So we always rinse our brushes, sponges and dishcloths in cold water at the end of doing dishes. I have never had a smelly disposable that others complain about. The science behind this hack is that warm water encourages bacteria growth as you mentioned.

I love your cleaning hack videos. I still use your “one touch” method to keep my house tidy, well trying to keep it tidy. Going to get rid of my sponges next. Thanks!

I always have rinsed my dishes off before setting them in the sink. I basically wash my dishes before I wash them by hand. We also let them air dry. Mainly because I was to lazy to dry them by hand. I guess it paid off in the long run. Thanks for the awesome tips. Like the gloves also I have super dry hands and I like using bleach in my dishes sometimes. Those gloves will help.

Thank ypu for all the wonderful hacks. I have one to share with you and the rest of ypur viewers, too. I have started adding a little splash of white vinegar to my dishwater and to the bubble up dishes along with my Mrs. Meyers soap. My dishes absolutely sparkle! And always, use the hottest water you can stand (using gloves will insulate your hands) for washing but especially rinsing the dishes. The vinegar ensures a streak free shine and the hot water evaporates faster than cool or warm. When dishes dry faster, the less time for them to pick up bacteria.

One more tip that some people may not know is not to put your hand down inside a glass to wash it or to be very careful when doing that because the glass can break and cut you. My grandmother did this one time and it was awful. It sliced her hand and wrist several places all the way around. Of course she had to have stitches. She was lucky it didn't cut an artery. Thanks for all your videos!!!

Warm water will never make anything more sanitary. Laundry, dishes, etc. Your water has to be minimum 120 degrees F to kill any germs, so if you soak dishes in hot water and bleach you'll be fine. Or if you soak your dishes and then quickly put them in the dishwasher, which also gets super hot.

I am the dishwasher in our household of 2. I do stack the dishes adding just enough water to dislodge anything stuck on the plates. I also put my silverware in a glass like you showed with a little soap and water, again so no food stuck on the silverware. I always try to wash as many dishes as I can while cooking and have done so for years. My go to implement is called a Scrub Daddy. I LOVE this tool. After dinner I usually do all of the dishwashing and put the dishes in the dish drainer to air dry, then I put them away in the morning. Also when washing crystal vases, glasses or anything precious (breakable) a suggestion I heard from Martha Stewart many years ago was to line your sink with a bath towel so you would never break a beautiful or meaningful piece that could not be replaced. I've also cut pieces of felt or thin foam sheet to put in between anything I don't want scratched. Love watching your videos! So informative!

I live in a very small NYC apartment. I purchased a large set of stackable pots and pans, but I still invested in a set of felt pot separators on Amazon to preserve the nonstick finish as well as the exterior. You can also use flattened frilly coffee filters or really cheap dollar store paper or foam plates to protect the finish of stacked pots and pans.

The silicone gloves are great! I have 3 different colored pairs - gray to groom my dogs (they love it - it's like a massage!), green for cleaning the house, and pink for dishes. Often I can't hold a dish brush because of my muscle issues, and the gloves help so much. The only issue I've had is the dishes sometimes slip out of my hands with the gloves on, but I'm pretty sure that's more my muscles than the gloves.

@mudling3 ай бұрын
YES I'm one of those sensitive people who can smell egg on people's dishes all the time (especially in restaurants). Sometimes it ruins the food's taste too. It's putrid. The secret is COLD WATER. Thoroughly rinse/prewash with cold water until the smell is gone. The hot water seems to 'bake in' the egg smell.
