If you want to save some money on running a drift car, get the oldest tires you can find for the rear. Old tires are hard, and that means they have less grip making it easier to brake loose the rear. Also, they're cheap.

Tubular K member, control arms, coilover converstion and caster camber plates. I would recommend Team Z. Good quality pieces. Should probably have at minimum 3.55 gears. Would give plenty of speed in 2nd gear and any higher ratio may require to be in 3rd gear and I doubt a stock non pi 4.6 would have power to be in third. I believe a pi cylinder head swap is in order for a bit more power. It's also very cheap for the added power. Would require 91 octane because of the compression increase. The Steeda Tri-Ax is a very good shifter. Precise and short. A set of long tube headers would really help with the low rpm grunt torque to initiate the drift. Also sound killer :P. Just some beginning suggestions. I know.. It gets expensive quick... lol Best of luck and have fun!
@HypnoticSuggestion8 жыл бұрын
Yeah the PI swap would be a good move, parts are easy to get and he can do the work himself. That and exhaust would be at the top of my list, and of course gears. The PI swap plus exhaust, he's looking at 50-60hp easily.
@fearlessdrift61108 жыл бұрын
he doesn't even know what he's doing yet. It's not time for mods now. He should only put good front tires and practice a lot. Modifying your drift car when you can't even drift will make you a bad drier on the long run.
@TheKansasDude8 жыл бұрын
Everything I listed excluding the coil overs and K member, are basic modifications that anyone should do to there 96-98 Mustang. They will simply improve the performance of the car for any driver. The only reason I listed the tube K is because thats what you need to install coilovers correctly. Which is what he was suggested by the professional drifter big wigs.. After all. He suggested doing modifications. But I do agree that anybody would improve with plenty of practice. A nice set of front tires and an alignment would go a long ways for sure..
@HypnoticSuggestion8 жыл бұрын
Olivier Gravel Well, he himself disagrees, he's already planning numerous mods which he talks about at the end of the video. It's almost a forgone conclusion, he'll probably do the PI swap, the extra power will help so much, and it's just so easy. Also with the mileage he's at, it's actually a great preventative move as well, freshen up the top end, new head gasket, it'll be good to go for another 100k miles.
@fearlessdrift61108 жыл бұрын
HypnoticSuggestion The Kansas Dude All I'm saying is that a car doesn't need to be modified to drift well. Where I go, I'm better with my stock e46 328ci (3.46 welded diff) than most of the people who have 300hp s13's with hydro e-brakes and angle kits. Drifting is already a moneypit and he should take his time. He doesn't need the power, he doesn,t need the stiffness, he doesn't need the shortshifter... all he needs is practice. The only things that he mentionned that are important are front grip improvements and bucket seats. Everybody's mod list here is accurate but it's far from a necessity. He sounds like he's saying: -"that mustang needs this and that to drift" but you clearly see in the footage that he has not control of his car and no clue what he's doing. Mods are required only when the driver's skills are exceeding what the car car do which is far from the case right now. I hope he will keep his money for more tires and track time and invest in parts when he's trully ready...It's just common sense I think. It's just my opinion though, its not my wallet

don't need a roll cage for a harness just need a cross bar behind the seats and the harness will help tremendously with keeping you in the seat
@tylerd47238 жыл бұрын
*harness bar but you are correct. All you need chris
@claazy8 жыл бұрын
I wouldn't recommend harnesses with no cage. In the case of a rollover, your body can be crushed by the roof caving in
@This0is0pointless8 жыл бұрын
Clayton Rice what's the difference, if you have a seatbelt on your still not going anywhere and getting crushed anyway but you would have to slam most coupes pretty hard on their roof to buckle the pillars enough to crush you but I get what your saying
@nicksisson75388 жыл бұрын
This0is0pointless 3 point belt is far safer than a harness unless you have a well engineered roll bar/ cage, no air bag, and proper fixed-back seats. Otherwise you are risking serious spine injuries. 4 point harnesses are also terrible, ever hear of submarining?
@This0is0pointless8 жыл бұрын
yes but submarining can happen with any form of lap belt, the only thing I was getting at is that the main use of a harness is to keep you planted in the seat and that injuries are possible with any style of belt, its kind of a given if you crash hard enough, to many G's is just that.I never actually did say anything about a 4 point, he could go with a 5 but I do agree a good roll bar, fixed back seat and air bag removal is all a good idea but he may be limited with some things sense he's keeping it registered

Thanks man! When I drove home that day, it was truly inspirational for myself. I never thought I would go out and do something like this. Sure, I can fix cars, and build stuff all day, but to get a car that doesnt run, get it ready to drift, and go out and hit the track... I was amazed with myself!

Jow amazing video! I have a tip for you. If you are using Sony Vegas, what I assume from looking at the video, you have to disable the resample. If you don't you can see a lot of poor frameblending. This happens when framerates in the video don't match up. If you search for disable resample you know what I mean.

Bad idea, learn how to drive first. Learn to control the weight of the car, learn the basics. You don't need more lock until you're backing it into every corner using every mil of the lock you already have. Become a good driver, not a lazy driver.
@DodgeSeneca7 жыл бұрын
sweefu2 yeah tbh I think the best way to learn is with no power shitty tyres and none of the mods people claim you need and once you reach the limit of your car in an aspect you then upgrade it
