Recently purchased the AT-1 thumb hole stock. Edges at the grip frame are much rounder and ergonomic. Stock is lightweight. I do recommend getting the metal trigger guard when you purchase the stock so you get one shipping cost. Yet to shoot yet but looks amazing. Install was on a Ruger American 6.5 creedmoor for reference.

I have a AT-1 on a Howa 1500 barreled action. I thought I would like it at first, but it grew off me. You showed the square corners, I tried to round the grips over, but there isn't enough plastic. It digs into the top of my hand and hurts, scrapes and bruises. I wear a work glove on my left hand to prevent this. It also lessens my dexterity. The skinny fore end had to be replaced. The buttplate won't hold a Limbsaver. This old man needs one with the .308. I know that Boyd offers the fore end and pistol grip as an option, but for the extra cost I could have had an adjustable rest on a varmint stock. It's definitely not a hunter either. Those sharp edges hrt if you carry it in you hand or on a sling. Cute is not always the best.

Just got my Boyd's AT one stock today for my Savage Axis 30-06 in zombie hunter green and it is awesome , fit is great , finish is great , pictures don't do them justice they are beautiful . The stock is very rigid , nothing flimsy about it like I read in some comments , solid as a brick and not very heavy , we will see how it holds up to the recoil though , 30-06 should be a good test .

Thinking of At-One Thumbhole camo for my Ruger American. You mentioned easy bedding, what technique? I'm a rookie but I understand there's pillar, glass, or epoxy? Boyd's sells the pillar system with the gun, do the pillars drop right in or require additional drilling? Something that a mechanically inclined carpenter/mechanic should take on or gunsmith to get it done right?

I've only purchased 2) At one stocks. The first stock from boyds was close to perfect, the second I had to do alot of sanding & Dremel work, Be sure to check clearances barrel to stock clearances before applying any compound,

Beautiful stock. Especially for the money. What’s not to like?
@spraynpray4 жыл бұрын
The extremely short length of pull, the rigidity of a wet noodle, the inability to support a 6 pound rifle, the inability to handle more than 10 inch pounds of torque on the action screws before the stock is crushed, the hours of fitting required to finish the inletting due to their awful work, and their absolute bottom of the barrel customer service. Other than that, there's probably only a handful more things not to like about the stock.

What's your take between the thumbhole and the at-one for all around use? The thumbhole looks a little better and more comfortable, but I do like a high comb that you can get on the At-One. Unfortunately Boyd's only allows the adjustable comb on the varmint and At-One.
@vaughnprecision6 жыл бұрын
Greg Geis tough call, it’s a personal preference thing for sure. I’m not a fan of the thumb hole stocks. I really like the adjustability of the At-One. If I had to choose, I’d go with the At-One.! But again, that’s just me.!

@spraynpray4 жыл бұрын
I bought an At-One for my Savage. The stock is very flimsy and I could easily break it with finger strength. It's extremely fragile. The length of pull is adjustable from child midget to full grown midget. The longest length it can be set to would be too short for someone 5 feet tall.

@vaughnprecision7 жыл бұрын

Awesome, the reason I asked is because I saw a video where this guy said it cannot be pillar bed, because there is something in the stock it wont let you drill the holes, looking forward to see when you work on this stock, thanks for the info and happy new year buddy.
@vaughnprecision7 жыл бұрын
Mark Hernandez there is something in the stock, so he’s right.. this stock the costumer brought me had aluminum in it. However, it doesn’t touch the action and is inside the wood. It would be simple to drill through and insert a pillar, just drill the correct size hole.!
@markahdz7 жыл бұрын
I was thinking on that video I told you about, I watched it this morning and there is some kind of metal like you said, he said that his gunsmith used a magnet and found out there is a metal so he didn't install the pillars just bed the action, I hope you can talk more about this stock, I really like to see if it really help with accuracy, I was thinking on maybe getting this stock or maybe go with a MDT chassis but I haven't decide yet, this is a small project for my son so I don't want to put to much money in it just the right components. Why the hell would you want to paint a beautiful stainless barrel...
@danpatterson23362 жыл бұрын
These look like a million bucks in the video, but they are pretty lack luster products. Why would you make an adjustable stock that only makes the gun smaller. The butt adjustment makes the stock length almost as long as a factory stock (CZ 457) in the out position, and makes the length youth sized when closed. The plastic 'grips' are rigid and harsh to hold onto. The buttons for the cheek and butt adjustments are clunky and require to much force to operate. If I would have purchased this anywhere else but directly from Boyds, I would have assumed I got a cheap Chinese knockoff. Not impressed.
@DB-oz2ki Жыл бұрын
Boyd's at one stock for the Savage is junk. Everything is cut too deep. Nothing worked, safety, trigger, mag. Also you'll need to shorten all screws or add washers and spacers to make it work. I put it back into the original stock in less than a minute and everything works perfect.
