At 5:10 it felt kinda autistic on destiny's part, ignoring vaush obvious joke to diffuse tension. The problem with destiny is his arguments are correct, but he's arguing with a friend and pushes aggressively when the other person isn't even arguing that hard. You can make every arguments destinys making in a more chill tone and not as aggressive ad it'll have more of a chance to bring people over to his side

@@bleeem bro, you just described every aspect of life. Once you learn anything, not just league, and continue doing it it becomes repetitive and less fun. Not a good argument against LoL. For me some games continue scratching some itch in my brain, and some games fizzle out and become boring overtime and then you can take a break from the game and then play it again a bit later and it will be fun again for a short time and the cycle continues. For me, the league cycle is the longest in that league continues to scratch that itch and rarely do I enter the sick of league faze, it is what it is

@@MrShagification I wouldn't lean this far against Vaush either tbh. Sometimes when these two debate, I'm normally siding with Vaush on a lot of points... Vaush's issue is that he thinks his sarcasm or satire will translate well when he makes no audible difference in his tone of voice and that often creates bad back and forths. That aside, Destiny is right on a lot of things and so is Vaush. On many things these two are pretty close. The nitty gritty seems to be where they disagree on a lot of things, but I feel like they play the livestream rivalry game to make things seem more polarizing. The “well they’re not top 1% in the destination city they choose to live in” thing triggers me so hard. No one would ever let this fly when comparing across countries. Money is fungible, that’s the whole point of it. Someone making $30K in the US lives a better life than almost everyone in Africa. Yes, it’s more expensive to live in the US, but for all that expense you get a place that’s safer with clean water and 13 years of world class public education and shit. Same with cities. Yes, $100K “doesn’t go as far” in New York City. But you’re in New York City!! Lastly, with Hasan or Philosophy Tube, we’re talking about people who sit on their ass on the internet as a job. Their income is literally as portable as it gets. Hasan could make his millions anywhere in the US, but he chooses to live in West Hollywood.

Case in point, whenever he talks about anything Destiny says, all that spontaneous confidence and debate bro energy kind of dissipates "Destiny? I got into Vaush because of Tim Pool (the original debate), and then a regular consumer of his videos after watching the Ben Shapiro political compass breakdown and watching most of his debates. I wasn't the most educated on politics before be it theory or otherwise, and he made points that worked more for me that other lefties i knew at the time couldn't provide (simply railroading that if you don't agree with them, you have a fundamental evil component to you and at least appearing like his positions had some level of pragmatism to them). I was never socialist, and am not now. He started making the same feels-y esque arguments against people he is clearly afraid to appeal to a fanbase that doesn't care if he's right or wrong, and after the Kyle Rittenhouse stuff (which i didn't see until recently) it feels like he always was trying to have his cake and eat it too with volatile takes like that albeit with a HANDFUL of take that should be obvious in the left-sphere to kind of appreciate hearing sometimes (wokescolds/anti-white racism exists and should be avoided even if it's not as bad as other racism/gatekeeping is bad) etc. etc. It's super sad to see Vaush essentially become alot like the very thing he fights against and makes the same bad sort of arguments that reactionaries of 2015 and the like make.

He clearly disagrees with tankies in this take, so how are they on his side exactly, explain that to me. How is a grifter not lying by default? And then if said grifter is a liar, but he's ok with that, how is he not OK with lying? This defense raises more questions than it answers imo. I feel like destiny indirectly adressed the logical flaw in this grifter take with the cars are blue analogy. My assessment of there relationship is Vaush held Destiny to a certain light, Destiny being Destiny challenged Vaush on his commentary on the Rittenhouse about how he was jumping to conclusions and not basing any of his opinions on facts. Vaush is now realized that Destiny was right but he in his on social space and community needs to create a narrative based on feelings. Its not hard to come to that conclusion and anyone can see that in this video. I think what we need to do if we want to be progressive is to stop the infighting and move on to basing opinions on FACTS and not on biased preconceived notions.

I could be wrong, but one thing I would disagree with Destiny on is when he says Vaush is no different, on an ideological level, from the crazy groups on the other side because he chooses to be dishonest to obtain his goal. While both are liars, I think the difference between the two is in the ideology. For example, while both lies are wrong, I would rather people lie to get more people to get vaccinated and wear mask than lie to get more people to do the opposite. That is not to say I would prefer people lie, but if someone did lie, I would choose the liar with the better cause.

Fair point. My position is I don't even condemn Vaush for thinking it's ok to lie to meet a better end. My problem with him is he believes this & acts it out as a content creator. This is bad for two reasons. One - as a consumer what I want is to follow honest people and to decide for myself what to take from it. I don't want some content creator deciding when it's appropriate or not to manipulate the facts for me. Two - content creators who aim to be the smartest person at a particular moment in time, always, eventually contradict themselves over time & they expose themselves & diminish their message, so undo their goal unless they are extremely sparing with their misuse of information manipulation.

8:40 I get the point Destiny is making here and I agree, but this kind of nuance is exactly what Vaush was talking about when mentioning top earners in London. It does make sense to look at and compare wages and renting costs in a specific area if you're trying to paint a picture of someone being wealthy enough to not have to worry about paying rent during the pandemic.
@Maze86753

Yea and the notion that you have to find the sub-neighborhood of London is so silly for Destiny to bring up as a counter. London vs broader area stats are not the same at all and on THAT level context is absolutely important.

@@Maze86753 Certain areas of London are really really cheap to live in. So it's actually a reasonable counter.

@@Winasaurus but saying London on the whole vs England on the whole is different than saying “this specific sub-neighborhood of London” vs “London on the whole” is different in practice and in relevance. No one really gets into that granular of areas when the whole point is you’re being too broad. It’s a bad rebuttal imo for that exact reason.
@Winasaurus
@Winasaurus 2 жыл бұрын
@@Maze86753 The point is if you selected just London, you'd have people coming out to say "Well actually she lives in a quite expensive area of London" or "Well actually that area of London has really high earning, she'd be lower percentile". Point is if you start getting dragged into more granular things there's essentially no end to it. Everyone can always say either you're being too broad and not catching the nuances, or not being broad enough, and focusing in to create a false image with tunnel vision.
@Maze86753
@Maze86753 2 жыл бұрын
@@Winasaurus yea and the point was that the degree to which the argument matters essentially went from little nuance to a lot clearer of a stat. If you don’t like it then stick to lazy generalizations and move on? You can evaluate on a case by case level the degree to which nuance matters. Nationwide to the metropolitan area is a big shrinkage but still isn’t perfect to the area, that is true. But is damn sure a better level of nuance than the current alternative. I don’t understand the argument against wanting clearer information with reference to arguments here. This current case is not too granular: done.

Conclusion from watching Destiny v Vaush videos: Vaush has always been the smartest kid in the room. In the larger world, he meets smarter folks like Destiny. He wants to win, rhetorically and intellectually. He tries and fails. Backed up against the wall, he realises that, hang on a minute this is the internet, and he can change the paradigm to what counts as a win. In his mind, the dude actually thinks “LOL U MAD?” is a legitimate affirmation of his intelligence.

I recognise that this is an extreme take, but after listening to the guy for a while I honestly think he’s just not very smart. He’s of extremely average intelligence and every interaction provides further evidence for that. Unfortunately he seems to be very arrogant - the insane ‘I was trying to save destiny’ narrative is just one example.
