I have a 1.2L petrol (2011) that has 83hp and does 40mpg in town and about 60mpg on motorway (because of the constant speed), it can be slow up the hills but when you get up to speed it's a great first car to cruise around in. Easy to manoeuvre in tight spaces and easy to park as well - plus i like how the wing mirrors look and fold in.

This version is an excellent car. I do not have one fault with it and regularly beat cars off the line and I drive it up and down motorways and I have never thought it was sluggish. One of my family used to have the Fiesta so I have driven both and much prefer the Corsa and it even kept up with a Honda over a long distance and on the motorway so definitely not slow and in fact I would say nippy and I have the points to prove it. The ride is much smoother. It has never failed an MOT in 5 years despite being 10 years old. I have only had it 5 years. In fact I have been looking to trade it in, just because it is 10 years old, but honestly can not think of another car even newer I want to buy hence why looking at the 2015 Corsa and that led me here but at the current time I may just keep it a little longer.

Can't really go wrong with a Corsa. There is good reason that they are popular with driving instructors. WakingCobain just bought one, the quoted acceleration time certainly is not as fast as the car actually is. Usually will beat most 1.0 and 1.2 turbo cars off the line as it’s naturally aspirated and the torque is already there hence not needing to wait for a turbo to spool.

the term sluggish can mean different things to different people

The reason why it doesn't accelerate that quick is because Vauxhall constricts the fuel supply for economy, the engine itself is no way underpowered.

The Corsa D is one of the very best cars Vauxhall(Opel) has ever built. In general this model has very few faults.
@WarthDader7410 жыл бұрын
Azureecosse In fact, the diesels in these Corsas are not Vauxhall diesels at all. It is Fiat engines (sadly) with Opel badges. The original Opel petrol engines are of much better quality. I have to disagree with you on the Yaris thing. I think it is a soulless car, it has less space than the Corsa, worse riding comfort, worse seats. And the Corsa looks very much better. But but...people have different taste
@WarthDader7410 жыл бұрын
Azureecosse I highly regret that I dont mentioned in my last comment that I have been working in the car industry for many years. Maybe you think it is something I came up with right now, but it is the truth. I know there is many common of faults on the Insignia, but the Corsa...no way! From my experience, I dont recognize much from what you write. The Corsa D has a very good reputation on the second hand market because of few faults(Something longterm-tests in Europe have proved). This is also a knownd fact for both Meriva A/B and Astra H and J. I know there are some people that only wants an A-B car. But my experience from the last years is that things have changed. Just look at Toyota, they recently admitted themselves that their cars have been too "booring", and have started to work with the design.
@mattkaythetimelord10 жыл бұрын
pahaha the new model Corsas are awful I've driven 3, and all of them have bad gearboxes, the car jolts when you change gear and is not smooth at all, they are easy to stall, they have those massive pillars that restrict your view at junctions, interior design is ugly, exterior design is ugly.
@WarthDader7410 жыл бұрын
***** I have worked on these cars for 8 years, and have not seen ONE with a bad gearbox to this day. If I should buy a car of this size, the Corsa D would be my obvious choice. That is based on two things; 1. It is a car of high german quality with very few faults, and It has proven its reliability 2. I think it looks much better than all of its competitors both outside and inside. Especially the front and the dashboard looks very sporty.

Lifetime warranties are the biggest scam ever. You need to have the car serviced at the dealer to keep the warranty in tact, which costs way more than it needs to be compared to a trusted local garage/DIY. Vauxhall do good finance deals I give them that.

I disagree. Many British people are well aware that Vauxhall are known as Opel in Continental Europe and they do see it as an American owned European car just like Ford. GM also have R and D department and testing facilities in the UK which means a lot of Opel car are co-developed in the UK and Germany. You should be more worried about Opel in South America and China where they are re-badged as Chevy and Buick, and they genuinely think those cars are American.
