Car manufacturers in fact getting greedy and dictating what consumers want. With the brilliant Fiesta getting the chop in favour of other Ford models with a higher profit margin the other manufacturers will increase market share as you mention. The Polo is expensive for what you get but is allegedly a great car. For my money if I was in the market I would also look at the Seat Ibiza or the new Skoda Fabia. I had a previous model Fabia a while back for a few years and it was a brilliant car and an older generation Ibiza that was very good as well for its day. Obviously there is no guaranty that the new models will be better than the previous versions but these would be on my test drive list along with the Corsa and of course the current Polo. There are still a few superminis to check out. I must confess I do like the look of the current Corsa though.

There's one decisive argument really: It's affordable (under current circumstances). If you're in the (german) market for a relatively young used car (not older than 2019, not more than 25-30k miles) with some goodies (i.e. automatic climate control, LED headlights, heated seats 😅, cruise control, android auto/apple car play), it's mainly the Corsa and the Clio you'll see in the car searching websites (with the occasional oddball C3 or Mazda2 and some late Fabia 3) starting from 14k€ up until around 16.5-17k, when some Fiestas and Ibizas start appearing. Considering the fact the Corsa is a modern car which is fuel efficient, can be specced up nicely and doesn't cost the world (basically a 208 with less design but at a 20-30% discount), and it's a no brainer.

Vauxhall Corsa & Opel Corsa are just Peugeot 208. French Peugeot bought Opel-Vauxhall in 2017 when Opel-Vauxhall was then a dying brand. Opel has been in deficit for the past 10 years. In 2018, Opel was profitable. Michael Lohscheller, Managing Director of Opel Automobile GmbH: " "When we compared the production costs per car at Opel and PSA, we realized that we were really bad: ours were sometimes twice as high." Frédéric Laganier, director of industrial strategy at PSA: "The organization has been completely revised with the creation of clusters which bring together factories by type of product. In the GM era, Opel used ten engine families, compared to four now. Opel used nine different platforms (chassis and running gear), almost one per model. Today, there are only two, shared with the brands of Peugeot.... There were 26 different steering wheel finishes for the Insignia sedan. Opel now only offers nine. And, like at PSA, it has narrowed its range to focus on the most popular models."

Been driving this corsa for over a year now, Love it, massive upgrade to my fiat punto evo, feels like a ferrari every day haha, Tbh the infotainment screen doesn't matter whatever model you choose, I've got the top range corsa with the 10 inch and you can't even use the extra 3 inches, the screen still 7 inches plus the signs to choose certain things, Which is rather annoying, my only real annoying thing is the electrics can be a bit funny, my AC and heater in general stops working randomly for a few days, Actually spent a year the start stop doesn't actually work, it's a gimmick and the reason for it is, it's the exact same model as the 208, all the parts are just the exact same however during shipping of the car battery to the vauxhaul plant, by law all batteries must be under 40% charged to ship, What vauxhaul doesn't actually do is charge them up again. So to use the start stop function the battery needs to be around 90% charged for it to be of use, my battery is currently sitting on around 60% charge, it never goes up, apparently we are supppse to trickle charge it every year ive been told, originally I was told that you just need to take it for long drives, I drive in total at least an hour a day for work not including any other commitments, a few months ago I driven it for 4.5 hours and my battery still remained the same. This is a common issue with this model and as someone who is experiencing something which is absolutely stupid do take that into account. Otherwise this car is almost perfect, it's smooth driving it and all the extras are worth it if you can afford it, I would recommend going for a decent model instead of the basic, also would have liked to see heated windscreen washers as that would be amazing during weather like right now. I do love this car but when you look at it from the front it looks like its depressed cause its has a permanent sad face on the front of the car

Manual or jerky auto there is no better cars that use petrol than Toyota hybrids and more and more starting to understand that and are switching to them . They have plenty to offer, Yaris, Yaris x, Corolla etc

I honestly think Ford gave up with the Fiesta for years now. Don't get me wrong, it's not a bad looking car - but design-wise it hasn't changed much since 2009. A new grille and slightly different lights weren't enough to keep up the excitement. That, and the price being way too high for what it is. At least Vauxhall are trying to do something different, and thank goodness because that Corsa was looking very dated. Let's be honest, both cars went from sprightly, funky cars to drab, boring "it will do" cars. The entire segment has been neglected whilst manufacturers squeeze in yet another SUV.

@Adam.Piper622 жыл бұрын
That question can be asked of every single new car ever purchased - there will always be either money to be saved or a better car for the same price second hand - and it's a simple answer. Some people just want a new car. Nothing wrong with that.

These cars are great for a certain kind of person. The people who buy these don't care to know about the engine specs Nicola. They are non car people like qashqai owners. This twin is the perfect "I just need a new leased/pcp small car and a new leased/pcp family car" type driveway. It's popular because it's cheap and their finance deals are unrivalled, you give it back after 3 years after having very few issues in the first 3 years of its life. They kerb the wheels, parking door dents from shopping , kids rub jam and sweets into the rear seat fabric, then when they return it get told it's never been serviced so have to pay extra compensation because "I wasn't told to do so". I also like the takeaway driver reference in the comments but these are more corsa d's and a few c's still clinging on with their timing chains howling and car windows full of steam from the numerous cabin water leaks. These cars serve their purpose. Thumbs up from me. The specced well too anything above basic spec has 5 times the amount of the equivalent polo, and we all know that vw reliability has crumbled the past 15 years to dust.

GBP17,500 is so expensive for a car of this size (AUD31k) - no wonder we will never see it here (apart from Holden shutting down). And I thought Toyota Australia was having a laugh bumping up Yaris from AUD15k to AUD25k. To my eyes, the front of this Corsa looks like the discontinued Hyundai Accent.

Drove a few different versions of new Corsa while my Peugeot 308 was in for repair ( yet again ) The matrix LED headlamps where excellent on one I was loaned, the standard LED where ok on the others. The digital dashboard was awful, the standard gauges where fine. Cabin not well designed, you could tell the Stellantis makeover to the original GM design they inherited. I rented one out of Hertz recently and I thought this car was pretty bad. The engine was weak with a ponderous acceleration time, the engine sounded weird quite frankly, the infotainment system has annoying touch buttons and the interior styling is weird. But the biggest issue by far is the foot rest and clutch are so close to each other meaning if you have man shoes on and use the clutch then you're likely to hit the foot rest by accident. Aggravating. I suppose the car looks okay from the outside and the boot and space are adequate, but that's the problem. At best adequate and at worst annoying.

@pistonburner64482 жыл бұрын
@@stevencampbell1150 I think the differences might be actually really minute in physical nature, more about how they've tuned things, how they've placed certain bushings etc. I wouldn't be surprised if some company (if not the manufacturer themselves) could offer a modification to the car to change it from the over-damped totally feel-less mess to something with a bit of feel and fun for only a few hundred quid. Just change a few simple components in the pedals, the steering, a few bushings and transform the car. Of course the traditional slight change in suspension and tires could be offered, then sell the unused tires and springs as spare parts. Not expensive to do if done with a high enough volume (springs themselves would cost less than £100 a set to the company), but compared to the overall price of such a car...that's the problem.

The only downside I see to the current generation of Corsa is the lack of 3 door model, throughout the entire Corsa range from Opel Corsa A/Vauxhall Nova there has always been a 3 door model & 5 door model but clearly PSA/Stellantis feel that a 3 door Corsa would steal sales from Peugeot's 3 door 208.
