Thanks for USEFUL video. NB when you find MAYO on oil cap.... CHECK engine breather pipe back as far as the air filter box, it is usually stuffed full of mayo and reduces the pulling power especially on steep hills (we have a few!).

I would use fully synthetic in an engine with a chain! Also - when you are topping up oil why do you keep putting the oil cap back on?

He's putting the oil cap back on so that nothing accidentally falls inside the rocker area while he's checking how much oil is needed. Agree on the synthetic, but a good semisynth is good enough in hot weather (also, 5W30 or 0W seems too thin for me; i prefer 5W40 in that engine as synthetic oil), this engine surely won't need racing oils so a hydrocracked synth is more than enough as a 5W oil. Just don't go above 10W40 (i.e. no 15W40 or 20W50).

Because it was up on a ramp, he took it off the ramp unseen to us before adding in the last half litre so put the cap back on. It's not a terrible habbit to throw the cap back on though (also i know this is 6 year old comment just replying)

Clockwise or anticlockwise to get the sump plug out???????

anticlokwise, both ;)

Lefty loosy... righty tighty. Just when replacing the plug, turn it to the left first until it clicks, then you know it won't cross thread. 😸
