My wife has had one of these from new, I really rate it tbh. Runs on fresh air and the engine like you say sounds better than other 3 cylinders. We almost traded it in last year but were going to give us pittance for it so we hung onto it. Think vauxhall missed a trick stopping making these.

Great little car packed with a decent level of safety features. Bought mine because it was one of the few small cars on the market that has a flat rear floor once the rear seat base is removed (just a couple of clips). This enabled me to carry a full sized dog crate with ease. I could even leave the crate door open without having to worry about accidentally smashing the rear hatch glass when closing the boot!

I have a 2018 SE. It's brilliant little car & surprisingly good on motorways for a 1.0L. Runs on fumes, cheap to tax/insure, cheap to fix/MOT. Once you've learned the power band it's like a go kart. There's also an SL Nav spec which comes with a 7" info screen & stop/start. One additional thing to add is they're built in South Korea so will be reliable.

I bought a one-year old original Viva , in the early sixties, as a young family man. the three box design had a good boot . It performed very well against its competitors, in those days reaching 80mph. The modern cars are all designed with CAD systems ( Catia ? ) , which is why they are similar looking. Am I ancient ? I take the opposite view. Viva is a celebratory , cheerful , name. These days, names can be awful, like the one beginning with a Q ; and the stupidly thought up Ka. Then there are some German ones, which can cause pensioners false-teeth to shoot out. Mazda have got it right , most having numbers.

I have a friend who's had two of these from new. I'm surprised Vauxhall don't still do it. It's nicely equipped and the 3 cylinder engine is eager and even quite rorty at the speeds you can do on motorways nowadays (it does take a bit of effort over about 80, but who can do that nowadays with smart motorway monitoring everywhere?). It's also nicely equipped inside. Overall, I think it's been overlooked, possibly just because Vauxhall is not perceived as being as desirable as other brands. It's actually a really competent, pleasant and quite a fun small car, that may be a bargain in future because people obsess about other brands they perceive as being more desirable.

These were launched when I still worked for Vauxhall - I still really rate them! Better than a i10, far more solid and the early models had DAB, Cruise etc. They started stripping spec toward the end of the run. The engine was great to rev through. Still get them as courtesy cars when my Insignia work car goes in for service. I'd genuinely have this over an equivelent i10, Picanto etc.

Also to add - when Vauxhall trained us to sell these cars, they taught us to stick your thumb and finger around the door frame - on a Viva, you can't meet them. On an i10 - you can! Better thickness on a Viva apparently!

Whats the best small petrol with and auto?My step dad's after one for under 5k
@ChopsGarage2 жыл бұрын
Your best better is an older car with a proper old torque convertor auto not a modern hydraulically operated manual as they are unreliable. Toyota will be most reliable. So a Yaris 1.33 Auto would prob be my recommendation. 2010, 2011 with say 60-80k miles is where you will be for 5k. Go for history over mileage/age every time!

@@ChopsGarage Thanks ,Yaris are decent little cars they must be for holding their price so much.

Isn’t the new Viva basically a Chevrolet Spark? Presumably most mechanical’s are same on a shared wheelbase. Now Vauxhall Opel are owned by PSA Group, they are switching all models over to their own platforms. Therefore new Vauxhall cars from now on will be rebadged Peugeot or Citroen vehicle designs.

They are a Opel design and produced by GM Korea, formally Daewoo, which is still a wholly owned subsidiary of GM.
@chrisblay2 жыл бұрын
@@williamegler8771 yeah that makes sense, as Daewoo were rebadged to Chevrolet when GM bought them.

On Vauxhalls from way back SL stood for superluxe, I think, just another piece of useless info for you.😁, they must be pretty tough little cars my ex wife has one.

At 73 BHP it must be as gutless as the original Viva was. (I had one for a year; the only GM product I've owned, and it will stay that way!)
@gerryattrickbiker2 жыл бұрын
If you want gutless, its not the Viva that's the 60 bhp VW Up and it's family.

Vauxhall 3 cylinders are to be avoided. You think the 1.2 4cylinder is bad? 3 cylinder power plants have infinite more issues
@ChopsGarage2 жыл бұрын
I think 1.2 is bad in terms of performance
