Me and Meghan had some great adventures in my connect you redesigned and it's still going strong. Keep up the good work and we'll see you soon. Cheers mate.

Hi dave, we're also from south shields and have been following your videos for over a year now. Youve inspired us to do our own van build. However we arent able to decide on which van, size etc. Would be amazing if it would be possible for us to come down and have a look at the van, really just to see if a vivaro would be to small for us or not. Wish i was in a position to purchase this van though, its my favourite so far 😊 Great work 👏 👍

You fairly get through the builds, 5th now. I can only imagine what you could do if you had a Good size workshop and could get a van inside. It looks Good, A very nice clean build.
@dave-watson Жыл бұрын
Thanks a lot, I've looked into getting a workshop that I could get a van in but the overheads keep putting me off. I think I'll stick to the back lane for now.
@pa_maj.MARTINI-van-MAN Жыл бұрын
Hi Dave, A friendly farmer with Good barn space is what some of my mates use here (Northern Ireland) for working on their boats etc, it's much much cheaper than industrial estate units but you need to be in the know. Keep putting the word out that you're looking until a cheap space becomes available. Also, you could phone local farmers to see if they can help or suggest someone who's willing to rent a space, you may not be in the know but they most likely are. Saying that, being as it is, you're close to your home and workshop, that's hard to beat too.
@dave-watson Жыл бұрын
@@pa_maj.MARTINI-van-MAN It's a great idea but the nearest farm lane to here is about 20miles. I used to live in a tied cottage on a farm a long time ago and that would have been ideal as it had an old barn and outbuildings right next to the cottage. But I think I'll put up with the back lane for now and concentrate on my paintings during the winter.
@pa_maj.MARTINI-van-MAN Жыл бұрын
@@dave-watson Yes Dave, do what works best for you. It will be nice to see some of your paintings. I haven't painted anything (oils mostly) in six years...Once I get quite accomplished at something I end up moving unto something else for a while. I always go back to it at some point though, with more learned theory but behind in practice.
@dave-watson Жыл бұрын
@@pa_maj.MARTINI-van-MAN Yes I paint mainly in oils too and in bursts , I'll do loads for them and then none for a while. But I'm on a roll with the painting right now, I'll see if can get a good camera angle and set up to make some videos.

Hi Dave love what you have done 👍🏻 Question do you think a skylight 700 x 500cm could work to add extra height in kitchen area. I’m only 5ft 2 but thinking the slight extra height to stand could work. Pop tops seem to be very expensive.
@dave-watson9 ай бұрын
Yes the pop tops ae expensive. The only thing with a larger skylight is that it might not fit between the roof ridges and you might have to cut through them.

But if you are looking at getting the work done early next year let me know and I'll let you know if I can do what you want. Thanks for watching.

Dave, you’re a legend mate. Just wanted to ask a question about your gas setup - is there a reason you haven’t got a dropout or anything?
@dave-watson2 ай бұрын
Many thanks....Fr the gas drop out you also need a sealed box to put the gas bottle in and as this is more of a day van the bottle would be switched off most of the time.
@ProjectHD172 ай бұрын

Interested to know Dave, how long it takes you start to finish to complete your conversion. Is it a 2-3 week project? I’m in the home straight with my first one and your videos have been a great help so thank you. I do think the second time around would be soooo much faster as I did a lot of mistakes 😅
@dave-watson7 ай бұрын
Yes the first one always takes an age. But as I'm doing mainly Vivaros I have a lot of the templates already cut, makes things a lot easier. If I really worked at it I could do a full conversion in about 3 - 4 weeks. I'm starting a new build soon and i am going to video it on a day by day basis.

Good evening Dave, hope you've had a good Bank Holiday weekend, I was wondering if you'd be so kind as to answer me a question I have about my own SWB Vivaro. I don't want to put any extra windows in my van as I want to keep it relatively stealth so need to put a vent in the roof. Do you think just one of those round spinning ones would be sufficient of should I put in something bigger? I have purchased a Fiamma roof vent but due to the placement of the roof struts in the van the only place I can put it would be just behind the bulk head. Do you think this would be OK as it's such a small van? Or would you recommend something else? Thank you in advance. All the best.
@dave-watson7 ай бұрын
The roof vent at the front of the van should be okay, you can always open a side cab window a little to get a flow of air. Good luck with your build.
