I believe your advice helped me solved the problem with Opel Astra H 1.7 CDTI 74 kW. When I would start engine and weather was warm / hot (25 - 30 degrees of Celsius outside), car would gone to limp mode as soon as I press accelerator pedal and would not rev engine, only engine shutdown and restart would temporary (until next accelerator pedal press) solve this problem. I also had got error codes P1120 and P1122 which would indicate accelerator pedal position sensors. When I had similar problem few years back (only them engine would rev its self-up without pushing accelerator pedal) repair shop just switch accelerator pedal and problem itself came back few MINUTES later then another repair shop took very basic set of actions - disconnected and cleaned accelerator pedal contacts, dismantled and cleaned UEC, disconnected and cleaned ECU contacts (and for all of this work they took only a fraction of money which has been taken by earlier repair shop which just unscrew 3 bolts, disconnected accelerator pedal and put another used pedal in without even worrying to test their work and after that offered to change whole ECU for a price that was almost even to half car market value at the time). So after remembering how those great repair shop guys solved kind of similar problem last time and after finding this unbelievable usefully video I dismantled and cleaned car UEC and also disconnected and cleaned accelerator pedal contacts (I would also like to client car ECU contacts but for this engine model ECU is mounted in the way I cannot rich it and I do not have necessary place / tools for this kind of job), put it all back together, deleted error codes using OPCOM and it all worked like charm. So, this is third day after this repair and problem still doesn’t came back and I hope it won’t. In the end of this story I would like to say honest THAN YOU for making and publishing this video as I believe it helps not only me but also a lot of people to deal with this tricky problem without spending fortune for new parts or even diching the whole car. Sir, you are example not only of decent mechanic, which purpose is to find and fix the root of the problem, but also of person which has high level of empathy, towards its costumer and understands that these kind of problems should be solved by trying solutions from cheapest to most expensive and not the other way around, without randomly changing expensive car parts and by such actions ensuring high profitability work flow with kind of low labor intensity tasks. I believe I can’t say enough so THANK YOU one more time 😊

Zafira B 1.7Tdi. Had a problem with accelarator not working at all, or more commonly loss of power. The turbo was kicking in but not properly. Took it to a local independent garage. They checked it out, replaced the pedal, but couldn't find the problem. They recommended an independent Vauxhall specialist. He wouldn't touch it as he said it could take forever to find the fault. He said Vauxhall dealers start changing parts at £500 - £1,000 a time. Vauxhall dealer would charge approx £100 just to look at it. Tried this. Worked a treat. Thanks Martin! NOTE: Alfred's comment was right - there no need to remove the little black T10 Torx screws.

Glad you fixed the problem. The fuse box is the best place to start and it always pays to try the simple stuff first. I get my contact cleaner from Toolstation. White grease is also your friend which will help prevent corrosion on exposed electrical connectors. You will have seen plenty of the stuff on the Acclaim. I think that's what contributed to their reliability. BL/Austin Rover must've had a job lot at Cowley that they had to get rid of pronto. OP-COM is the best Vauxhall/Opel diagnostic software. These cars need genuine/OEM parts when it comes to engine bay sensors and suchlike. When I had to replace the EGR valve on my Mk 4 Astra I fitted a Delphi one and it was fine. These sort of aftermarket parts are a false economy.

Yes, I agree. Most modern cars in the scrapyard are not there because of rust, they are uneconomical to repair due the the price of the expensive electrical parts. It's madness

Zafira B was idling fast and on occasion the needle was bouncing. Opened fuse box lid and all looked OK but when I took out the fuses and looked underneath and below I could see the smears of damp causing the problem, thanks so much for this posting, car now drives like new and starts with no effort. I had a list of cheap options to possibly correct this problem and glad I changed the coolant sensor down by the stopcock, the brass end was black from gunk in the system which seems to collect at the bottom and changing it helped the cars performance as well but not nearly so much as drying out the fuse box.

Hello, I noticed it was not necessary to unscrew the 4 little black T10 Torx screws. (Actually there are 5 of them but none of them need to be loosened.) On the rear right corner of the relay box you need to release two small latches and then the cover with the relays comes off. Nevertheless the video was very helpful !! Tx

There are too many people in garages who are clueless when it comes to electrical, they wouldn't of found this issue and would of taken the code readers tps fault code as gospel and made u pay for a new tps, for it not to be the tps and then they would try new coil packs etc etc at the owners expense, my car goes to the garage once a year for mot, and the don't spin me a yarn because my tester knows me and wouldn't embarrass himself getting court in a lie lol, point being, don't trust garages and dealerships are crooks with pricing etc, I'm lucky enough to have Martin's skills I guess not everybody has that luxury.
