I hope the rest of the day went better!! My very first load w/ class_1 was a 60's Freightliner cab over towing a 32 foot dump trailer with an "R" permit, loaded to the max. An R permit here allows you another 50% capacity with a tag axle. All the good old boys were having coffee watching, as I pulled out of the pit loaded w/sand and stopped at the corner. There was a pretty steep hill to go up. The truck had the old standard 13 speed. I went through the intersection and tried for 1-2, nope. Back to 1 and try again, touch the clutch and it stopped. I did that 6-7 times and the old boys were laughing their butts off. Apparently nobody stopped for the sign, and shifted 1-2-3 before the hill and went up in 3. They busted my chops for 2 days!! 8) --gary

I like the play by play driving videos. I didn't know how much went into a heavy tow. The most I have towed is 7500lbs. I did tow a car on a trailer over the BC Rockies with an 05 Silverado 2500 once. Then I went to ontario with it.

I got 2 of the shifter extensions one 6 speed manual cast iron and put on transfer case shifter and as life time car hauler go GM bought just wanted to let you know I love them and I put my old style theft protection I put two polished and it has no markings for gears or 4x4 shifter so if the bad guy is very young has no ideal to drive !

Whenever I’m flagging especially on hills I give big trucks the priority. It isn’t easy starting or stopping on the hills by me.

First thin my owners manual in bold letters on my 05 Dodge 5.9 6 speed Trang is do not lug this motor like I did my 92 12 valve and if this motor shoots crap on me I will have a big choice a 12 valve or a 6.7 with no emissions stuff on it. Have you ever done a second Gen swap on one of your trucks and did you like how it turned out ?

How much are you affected by ram derating their towing numbers? The online Vin look up for Max towing almost all the numbers dropped by 2 to 4000 pounds.

it does not affect his truck, it is a commercial vehicle that are rated different than a 1/2 or 3/4 ton, under federal law a MFG cannot change a rating on a commercial vehicle after it has gone into service
