I had a Diamond C 32', triple ramp, which gave me a true 32' of deck. I hauled hay from north Louisiana to South Central Texas. The majority of it was rice straw which is super heavy! First load of rice straw I made, 4 round bales on front of the deck bottomed out the suspension on my 2500 Ram. Had a new suspension put in that was between a srw 3500 and drw 3500 Ram. Made many loads with the trailer after that. It was an awesome trailer! I've pulled a ton of gooseneck trailers from flatbeds to 40' livestock trailers. That Diamond C was the best pulling trailer I ever drug around.

Running 37 foot Midsota hyd jacks and tail. 12k axles with eoh disc brakes 17.5 tires. Love this trailer, fairly traditional design. Great workmanship and paint. Run crazy overloads and no problems in 2 years. Diamond C would be the next step up.

Great video, thank you for your honesty. So many trailer vids are just promo and guys explaining how their product is better. This is exactly what i was looking for, someone who uses the equipment and can point out all the small details and clearly explain why they matter. I also liked that you compared two competitors without trashing anyone. Great job , and thanks again . subscribed

I have a 2019 FMAX 35 ft with the engineered beam. 12FT powertail with hydro landing gear. WHAT A TRAILER! I purchased it last year from Sutter trailer in Nixa, MO. Went to the factory to pick it up in Texas. That is not a good story, but...this trailer is awesome . I usually haul a 5740 Kubota with an 1812 bushog, a tree sheer, a root bucket, a root grappler AND A kubota ZD331. Thats all the equipment I need for a job in one trip. I opted for the solar batt charger, wireless remote, one more extra box(and now I think I should have added two more) and a winch mount. I have jackknifed the shit out of this trailer with 20 grand on it and it has not sprung and still pulls true and the brakes are very balanced and spot on. I can't count the number of guys that have walked up to it checking it out asking about it. Everyone is impressed with its design and the fact that is the heaviest lifting and carrying powertail on the market. When I tell tell how much that tail can lift and carry they don't believe it. I tell them to just look under the back and hit the remote to check out the amazing lift and lock system that is on this trailer. You did a great job comparing the Diamond C to others. Bottom line is, there is no comparison in my opinion. I have had many flatbed gooses and dumps. I have a 2016 PJ 24DD that is a great trailer, before that I had a Big Tex....what piece of crap. Could not lift its advertised weight on a tandem 16ft dumper. That thing cost me more than what I paid for it. But anyway, I have not seen a good REAL LIFE comparison on the web of the Diamond C against the competition, which in my opinion, is not competition. This is a great trailer for small trucks and is built like a semi trailer. You did a good a good job putting on this video and I know you will love that trailer as much as I do. Its hard not to say something to everyone when you really find a great piece of equipment that makes our life as a contractor easier and more profitable. PS. after reading some of the posts here, I see you are concerned about cost. Mine was $18.500. Worth every cent!!!!! Don't bother to tell me I got ripped. I don't care.....no.....REALLY....I don't care....Good things are wortht it.

That or a box that is nothing but for hydraulics including an oil filter on the return line back to the tank so if there's any debris that happen to get into the system, it won't cause damage in the long run. Hopefully the return line on the hydraulic system isn't pressurized to the point where it'll blow off an oil filter.. hopefully?

Safety note...check hitch ball mounted in bed of truck...if it is a ball, shank, and nut...versus a slip in one like a pickup bed factory. Once that ball becomes loose from the weight working on the fine threads...it needs to be replaced. The threads get destroyed and simply tightening the nut won't hold tension. I've seen some shaky hitch balls...the bed has to have a substantial reinforcement steel plate where the ball shank passes through (this spreads the pressure). New ball that has highest rating...its 25,000 or 30,000 for 2 5/16" ball....loctite and torque the nut to spec. You will have to find what that ball manufacturer recommends.

24+4 Kauffman pro series flatbed gooseneck. It was my first gooseneck that was bought for an extremely good price and was still primarily like new. It's a single wheel dual axle and I'm desperately needing to upgrade to a dual wheel dual axle. Which is my reasoning for watching your video. I bought a new 20' featherlite gooseneck stock trailer about 2 years after first buying the flatbed and was amazed at how much better the torsion axles on the featherlite pulled and handled compared to the slipper style I had always used in the past. I'd like to pull a full on air suspension trailer to see the difference that everyone talks about. I also would like to try a GEN-Y gooseneck hitch shock absorber. I'm sure alot of you could care less about my story but I live and breathe this stuff everyday of my life and I enjoy reading and seeing everybody's setup and learn more about what works for different people. There arent any two people alike and what works for me isn't going to work for somebody else. But that's what makes KZbin such a great "tool" for us all because we can get on here and see why this stuff works and get ideas to feed our own passions and desires. Because at the end of the day, when were parking up and going home. The amount of fatigue and pain we feel all comes from the tools we had for the job. Abd when those tools are specially built for the task at hand and user friendly, we have more energy when we get home to spend time with our families instead of having to lay down because we're so exhausted. The extra money is nothing if it improves our quality of life. I enjoy your videos good ol honesty is hard to find these days.

Diamond C looks pretty good l have two 2016 40 ft Loadmax triple axle 7k trailers with fenders. I don't haul cars but the trailers with fenders have a lower deck less than 3ft. I haul 25K to 30K on deck all the time. Got a 2014 Ram Mega Cab pull all the loads great. One trailer has 17.5 elec. over disc with 17.5 other trailer is drums with 16 inch 18 plys. No problems with trailers except power coat paint is coming off all over the place. They must paint them after metal is in the yard 4 awhile you can see the rust under the paint. Sure l have breaking problems and tire problems when it is real hot. Always run my super heavy loads in the night to keep tires cooler and avoid weight stations. l am at 45K plus on total weight most of the time. Last weight was 47,600 total on empty tank and driver out of truck. No CDL and No Dot number. Looking and new trailers now want at lest 40 ft or longer galvanize ( nnremorques.ca/en/ )must have hydraulic jacks and 15K axles with mega ramps and top deck. Outlaw Trucking

You know you dont know what you dont know about a trailer until you have owned one for some time and used it to see what you like and dont like about it. I have a 2014 37 foot deck over 14k gooseneck. It just built over the way I was going to use it. Lots of d-ring weld all along the side of the trailer. The rear dovetail was only the top of the beam dovetailed. With the bottom of the beam remaining flat for more ground clearance. 7 foot fold up vertical car ramps. Full length torque tube. The gooseneck of the trailer is lowered for my lowered truck to keep the hitch from being extended out to far. I was the trailer to haul two rock crawlers and an atv. It's a Hardy built trailer. I installed all led lights and mounted double led lights all the way down the sides of trailer for night hauling. It looks great at night. All lit up.

All good points, I enjoyed the review, I sold my Kaufman flat bed but still have a 4 car double decker (Kaufman) and a dump trailer gooseneck Kaufman. I’ll be selling the 4 car next year and once we get the farm in the market for another flat bed. I’ve been looking at Winston and sure trac but I’ll add diamond c to my list not as well. I think one of the biggest points you made here that most people just looking for a trailer won’t realize how true it is, is that saving upfront never saves you in the long run. I ended up selling the Kaufman at a huge loss but the fact of the matter was it was too heavy empty to do what I really needed it to do. And part of that is my fault I’ll admit. I didn’t run the numbers to consider expansion in what we were doing. But on the flip side it was 9,000 empty with a 22,500 gvw. Those are pretty sad numbers for a tandem dual 10k setup. But kinda like you said it was the cheapest by far in what I was looking at. It was built very well, and it’s strength and rigidity came from its shear mass for sure. I’ve glanced over a few from Winston 30k gvwr and weights 8,000 empty with hydraulic dovetail, jacks, and a winch on it... I’ll spend the extra 5k to get that over what I had any day of the week knowing what I know now. My 4 car is on the 4th position for the gooseneck as well and it’s got quite a bit of sickout like yours. I took the tube all the way out of the reciever on mine and saw I’ve got about 18” of tube still in there made me feel a lot better. Keep the gib screws tight and you’ll be good. Went from pa to sc and crossed the scale at 39,000 (I’ve got a picture of the load of old muscle cars on my community feed) hilly terrain and all. Not a single hiccup. Best of luck with the new one I’ll be keeping my eye out for any updates on it in the future. Thanks for the video. Take care.

vpw1984 short term they aren’t bad, but you do get what you pay for. Their axles (in my opinion) are very subpar until you get to the 10k axles. The lower capacity flat decks have a good deal of twist in them, and they wouldn’t upgrade my torq tube even when I asked and was willing to pay. I did an in-depth review on my channel of my dump trailer from them where I go into detail on the axles. One good thing is that it’s really easy to sell a trailer that’s only a year old and you can recoop about 80% of the investment back

I run a 1989 Cornelious(now known as Corn Pro) 23+5ft. The rear deck can be either set flat or beaver style depending what you haul. It has a custom extra tall neck so it can be pulled by a truck with a utility bed. It has somewhere around 200k miles on it. It has dexter 12K dual tandems with currently electric over hydraulic brakes. They were originally vaccum over hydraulic. They worked great either way but hooking and unhooking is way easier with the electric hydraulic and I would not have a trailer with straight electric brakes. I once hauled a 30,000lb load with it 500miles and it did fine. The gross over the scales was 47000 and some change. The trailer is heavy it weighs about 9700lb empty.

Sam, sometime could you show / talk about the difference in the axles? I would imagine the Diamond C is using dexters, what did Texas pride use are they dexters? If they aren’t I am curious if the Texas pride 15k axles actually appear any heavier than the 12k axles on the diamond c. Would be interesting to know if the actual internals are any heavier in the Texas pride 15k axles. I had a sub par trailer that had “alko” axles and had constant failures that ultimately ended up with a fire and the hub was glowing brighter than I thought was actually possible on a day when it was so cold my fire extinguisher wouldn’t work (also didn’t know that was a thing) attempted to dump a jug of 30 below washer fluid on it but that was a block of ice too. I like the side by side of the hutch vs slipper suspension the difference is comical and always ticking in the back of my mind too since I once broke one of those main pins in the equalizer on my trailer making a turn at an intersection with a lil too much weight (Mine has a pin where some have a bolt). Anyway if you have the time one day maybe you could show a shot underneath and a good close up dead on of the hub of each. Awesome trailer, thanks.

Great info on the GN trailers. I had noticed the Diamond C trailers had radius on the neck instead of square with gussets. I had not noticed that it was one piece. Great for structural integrity. You were asking for input about experience with other trailers. I have had a couple of inexpensive bumper pull trailers over the years. Namely they were Quality and Curahee. The Curahee was a 18' (15+3), 10k, wood deck equipment trailer. The Quality was a 21' (18+3), 10k, steel deck car hauler. Both ran on Lippert 5k ez lube axles with brakes on both axles. The Curahee never pulled right. Empty or loaded to the max, it always seemed to want to wander. The Quality was a great pulling trailer. Never had any issues out of it at all. Having said that, neither of those could hold a candle to a Big Tex. Empty or full, it didn't matter. Big Tex 21' (18+3), 14k, wood deck. It pulled straight, true, smooth, and comfortable every time. All were pulled by the same truck ('03 Ram 3500, SRW, 4x4, crew cab, diesel, auto). Engineering plays a huge role in the behavior and characteristics of a trailer. Less expensive doesn't always mean bad. But in my experience, it's definitely better to pay a little more for the peace of mind and convenience that comes with a better engineered piece of equipment.

Thanks for putting this together. I’ve spent countless hours researching brands and options. Finally went with MAXXD 20’ car hauler. I had been looking at Texas Pride, but it’s just an ugly trailer, and this vid confirmed my fears about their paint. I I I liked Rice, but the factory box is odd shaped and not weather tight, and the under the deck winch plate is wonky. For the same money as the Rice MAXXD gives rub rails and rear stab jacks.

I had a 98 Dodge custom built 35'" tires 5-6" lift, flatbed with the bed corners cut off, pulling a PJ that was bumper pulled (Powder-coated, about 2008 model, great 14K trailer/ sounds like they have sold out... ) that pulled like a gooseneck. The tongue of the trailer went under the truck - could touch the rear tire with useable 8 foot bed in the middle hence the dovetail bed didn't stick out on the sides. Dual brakes on the trailer was great slowing the truck faster with a old case skid-steer. Not a fan of pulling with a lifted truck and big tires, but it did act like a gooseneck. If you order extra D-rings you need to specific about placement. I had 40 on the deck, was not happy with PJ having no rings between the axles so I had to add 4 more.

Thanks for the video. The Diamond C Trailer is one of the best I have seen so far while looking for a gooseneck equipment trailer. I am actually spec'ing out a FMAX212 35' x 102" with a local dealer now. I am currently pulling a Big Tex 25DU-20 with a GVWR of 25,900 lbs. and net payload of 17,340 lbs. I was pulling this trailer with a 2016 F350 Lariat with Ford's High-Capacity Trailer Tow Package which is really a F450 front end. This package from Ford takes my F350 GCWR from 31,900 lbs. to 35,000 lbs. Earlier this year I found a deal on a 2019 F550 with a 11' Knapheide flatbed and just had to buy it, so now the F550 does all the pulling. I feel like I have plenty of truck capacity to pull around two skid steers with attachments etc.. or one E85 with attachments, but trying to decide on a good length on a FMAX212 to buy now. Have you been happy with the 30' trailer you bought or wish you have went with a 32' or 35' instead? Thanks again for all the good videos.

I have a dump trailer from Texas Pride and it has served me well for 1+ year. I talked to a guy that had a Diamond C and the cost was 3 times almost 4 times the cost of my Texas Pride. Diamond C was sweet but it is like comparing a Honda to a Mercedes. They both will get you there, one does it in style and comfort but the other is not bad at all. 5 minutes maybe saved???? Could be worth it, but I don't think so. I bought a 20' Top Hat bumper pull with flip down ramps. It does the job. only other trailer I have is a 10x6 utility. I have a You Tube page, Maybe I will make a video on our equipment. Just like you said, whatever you pick I think you cannot go wrong with either of these trailers. I will always turn my head when a Diamond C passes by just like I do when Ferrari passes me. Great looking trailer, I am to tight for that and don't pull full time either. Good video.

Something you may have touched on but one of the things we learned at least for Washington state its not what you register the truck/trailer for but what it max cap is so because truck is ref for 13500 and trailer is 14000 and truck is marked 24000 because 13500 and 14000 bring combined weight over 26000 requires CDL

Solar panel to keep breakaway battery charged ! Great idea. Diamond C is sweet trailer. Texas Pride is ok for what it was designed for....rough and tumble oilfield drivers and roads. And that Hutch suspension is awesome. The suspension on the Texas Pride shouldn't be on anything beyond a landscape trailer. It is too flimsy...most people don't grease the center pin...it wears badly and lets that rocker box wear out internally...it eventually fails and not pretty when the springs get wonky.

If your a very knowledgeable welder certified that's the way to go because all of these trailer manufacturers are fast produced and squirted together with short circuit mig which is a scary thing if you've welded for a long time and seeing stuff break that looked beautiful but when we looked literally no penetration they do it because it's cheap for hardwire and they can go in all positions it's 7018 or a 71t1 gas shielded fluxcore for me it's ductility and fusion speaks for it's self

I believe engineered beams is the way to go. It's very easy to spec it out to the customers needs. Rather than just adding extra heavy beams. So in conclusion, due to your evaluation I would choose Diamond C. Semi trailers has been using engineered beams for years and it's nice to see they're scaling it down for the smaller GVWR trailers. Nice job on your unbiased evaluation.

Yeah that's the part that confused me. How did they get a patent on a design that's been around for decades? I mean Diamond C builds a beautiful trailer but, how did they patent a design all the big boys have been using forever?
@bobber55
@bobber55 2 жыл бұрын
@@NavySturmGewehr Can't say I'm not an expert on that. However, if a trailer manufacturer designs a specific design of a certain function of a trailer, that particular design could be patented but not the process of getting it to that stage. And that brings up another question cutting steel plate and making your own I beam or wide flange beam is that infringing on a patent? Don't know. Maybe someone can comment that does have expertise on this subject.

Where my old dump was an old Maxy and it weighed right around 4 k. It was 2 ft shorter but that’s a big difference in cargo capacity. Also don’t like how high the frame is off the ground feel like I need to lift the truck to be able to hook to it. I does dump well and trails well. Thanks for sharing your opinions and experiences with these trailers. I’ve already decided to go FMAX212SS for my next (first) GN trailer, almost identical to yours. I would love for you to go further into detail on the brakes. I’d like to see them, the hardware, how you set them up, and get just more info on them in general. It’s a large chunk of change to upgrade to the electric over hydraulic disc brakes, so I’d like to feel better about checking that box. It also looks like you have to go 32’ to get the optional air ride. I’m not sure I need to go there. I know you don’t have one, but it’s be cool to hear what you think about that as well. I’m sure you kicked that around. Most fellas don’t realize your “Hutch” suspension is called the HDSS option through Dexter. For DiamondC that’s a fairly inexpensive option that should be checked on trailers of this class. Keep up these informative videos. And please ease up on the dizzying head cam. It’s good for a few shots, but not continuously. 😆
