#obdeleven The "direct throttle mod" is just changing how quickly your vehicle changes the steering feel (this adaptation is in the steering control module after all) when you change between normal and sport mode.

Thanks for the video. I felt it was placebo and couldn't justify saying "this feels different" after activating direct throttle and dynamic steering. I am going to leave it on for a couple weeks then change it all back to normal and see if I notice anything, of which I doubt.

Thanks A LOT for your time and research about that stupid modification! Now did u investigate about the engine responsiveness when switching to "audi" mode in engine long coding? Im driving a base 2018 Sportwagen DSG/4motion and did the test. Of course i’ve lost cruise control (non acc) after changing for audi mode... still trying to figure if something as changed. I think im gonna switch it back to Volkswagen to get my cruise control back

Well done! My question is, OBDEleven here is showing about a 1/4 second delay. How could that possibly have any significance in the real world when switching steering modes? Why would this exist?

No idea. There are lots of things in the system that make no sense or aren't used. Love to talk to a VW engineer about all of this stuff!

I have done it on my Golf, same. There is no data to support that this does anything more than change the time it takes for the steering to switch over. 100% placebo. I'm showing you exactly what it is doing on any MQB vehicles - the change is the same just like it is for all the other ones.

Respectively, you are wrong. Changing from incremental to direct is like day and night difference. Ive tested this on my 2019 golf gtd and it completely changed the drivability. Better drivability than a golf R!! No it is not a placebo effect. The difference is far too big to be a placebo. Ive noticed more low end torque, no flat spots and overall waay better drivability giving you control on exactly how you want the car to run. After the coding, drive around for abit, when the dsg box adapts to the new throttle response it gets even better. Friend of mine hopped in my car and noticed the difference immediately. First thing he said was "why does your car feel like it has better drivability than my golf R". So we coded his car too. Again. It made a big difference on his car too. After a 20min drive his car had low end torque like a diesel which is what he wanted when tooting around town and ofcourse he had his high end power there at his disposal. Best of both worlds.

Respectively, you have no data to back it. I do. Please have a read, my summary post is #79. forums.vwvortex.com/showthread.php?9392853-Logging-quot-direct-throttle-quot-VCDS-OBDEleven-tweak I've logged it up and down and sideways. You can also see what a proper pedal box looks like w/r to logging. You are just pushing the pedal harder which was also shown. So are you saying that changing the speed at which the steering switches between modes (if you even have them) somehow is impacting throttle and torque? So your friend got in your car blind, unaware of any changes, and told you this? Or, did you tell your friend to drive your car b/c you made this amazing change and of course, he felt it. Placebo.

@@karstgeo7290 No he was not aware. I told him afterwards that i fiddled with obdeleven. No im not pushing the pedal more. I dont need to. Because it doesnt have the flat spot at the beginning as the golf r's or the gtd has. We tested 2 cars. I noticed a difference. He noticed a difference. Everyone in our circle of friends noticed a difference. But you're saying we are wrong? Ok

@@jaym6742 This is all subjective - provide some logging to show what is going on - should be easy if it's truly changing something that has to do with the throttle. I showed you exactly what changes in the video. To-date, I've never seen anyone substantiate the claims about the "direct throttle" change in the driving profile switchover adaptation within the steering module. I've done my best to objectively test this out on 2 different MQB vehicles (all the data are in the vortex thread I linked) - that's all I can do. If you think this works, great, but until you have some data to show it, it doesn't mean much as there can be such a placebo going on here. That's how testing/science works...not because you "feel it".
@jaym67423 жыл бұрын
@@karstgeo7290 so let me get this straight. Ive driven about 1000 miles with the direct throttle response. I changed it back to standard the other day as i had a service booked in, the journey to vw was shite cause the car was not responding the same way it was before when direct throttle was coded in. I pushed the pedal down further than i normally do to get some oomph but it just wasnt same. Felt laggy. Got the car back from service, next day coded it back to direct throttle and what do you know...touch of a pedal and i noticed the difference instantly. For you to say im still wrong because you and your log says so is just clutching at straws here. Saying that im putting my foot down on the pedal is just nonsense. Ill tell you again. I dont need to step on it, in fact ive been feathering the pedal after the direct throttle coding. For all we know it probably didnt work on your car but it works on other models.

I have tried to apply a scientific/data-driven approach to this question - does changing the driving profile switchover adaptation within the steering control module change the accelerator/throttle curves or output? I came up with several tests and logged it on two different vehicles. I see no difference in the data. I conclude that it does not based on the results. I am not the only person that feels that this change doesn't do anything w/r to the lag etc. that many describe. There are folks that span the MK7 R, GTI, and Golf models that have said they get nothing from this. You and many others conclude that it does based on feel. I'd love to see some logging of yours to see if there is a difference/what is going on. So other folks that don't feel this changes anything are also crazy? The great thing about applying scientific testing to things is you can let the data speak for themselves and you don't have to clutch straws, you can show the data. Again, if you can show me some data, I'd love to see it and will happily change my mind b/c I have nothing really vested here, just trying go see how some of these VCDS tweaks are actually working. In the post on vortex (did you read through it?) there was a fellow that was saying he was getting the same result as you, swears it up and down. He logged it and pointed to where he thought he was getting this change as proof, and it is easy to see he was just pushing the gas pedal harder - I'm not making that comment up, the data are there for anyone to see. Placebo is real and can be very powerful phenomena that is at play here based on my results/data.
