VCDS "VAGCOM" RS3/TTRS CLUTCH ADAPTION + FIRST DRIVE

What's up #FETAFAM ?!?!?!?!
Today were answering the question of the "CLUTCH ADAPTION" for the RS3 that most of you had via the comments, emails and PMs we've received, and we figured since were driving to break in the clutch and also doing several adaptions we would show you all how to do this simple procedure at home with the ROSS TECH VCDS diagnostic tool.

Thank you for posting this. I was having performance issues with my ‘19 RS3. The car seemed binary...either on or off through the throttle. I saw your video and thought I’d give it a shot. Man...what a difference!!! Car is linear now through the throttle. Again, thank you!

I am a tuner for a living,. For a real adaption of the DSG you still need ODIS. With my dq250 tune i first did the adaption with VCDS and it did not pass 13bar clutch pressure, when i did the proper adaption with ODIS it went to 18bar. Also a proper adaption takes 30min.

I've run R888 and R888Rs in the rain before on the track (Not straight line track, HPDEs though). They require your attention but it is doable

Honestly, if anything I'm actually more confident in the trans/engine. As you said, you've beaten the ever loving crap out of your RS and if that's all you've broken... not too shabby.

He is one of the rare few. Many others that are smart and do not waste time on social media are having lots of trans issues at 600 crank tq/515 wheel. Tq is the enemy of the trans and clutch pack. Trans reliability drops 70% over 550 crank tq. That ingo comes from a Audi Master RS tech who also is sponsored by Audi Racing.

Yeah I mean, this isn't my first rodeo. Increasing crank torque levels by 250 lb/ft (70% increase) is obviously going to greatly reduce drive-line reliability. I was more commenting on my own confidence in a Stg1/Stg2 car making 450-500 lb/ft holding up down the line. Either way, you have to pay to play.

Hey, nice material but unfortunately I have an OCK gearbox with a DETA motor in my iron. The options are a bit different both in description and quantity, maybe you have recorded material about such a box? and e.g. for vcds 21.9? :)

IF the clutch adaptation isn’t great - is VCDS gives a code? A4 allroad 2016-full engine overhaul months ago-started to jerk at around 1800rpm (cold and hot, low and high speed) - Audi dealer saw NO codes and didn’t feel it on test drive (my ass/well do one with them) - within all possible reasons for jerking (not gas, gas filter or pump, misfire, coils, clutch adaptation, others) … which of these would give error codes on main vcds?

Hi, I bought a brand new mechatronic unit for my vehicle and have performed basic settings but sometimes the gears stop working and can see error codes P176B and P176C. Should I try basic settings again? There is also option for ‘Initialisation of clutch friction coefficient after mechantronic change’ but I’m not sure about that

Happen to know if this can be done with the OBDEleven? Also, do you know if you need to be on a level ground while doing this process? (with a GTR, its recommended) R888 on a GTR in wet was very sketchy!

boostenmkiv not sure about OBDEleven, you’ll have to ask them to clarify, and I haven’t heard anyone say anything about a level ground but couldn’t hurt.

VCDS can’t do correctly clutch adaptation, maybe future versions, but unlikely. For that, use ODIS. 👍🏻

Bro I will disappoint you but this is not an adaptation.l🙈 it is only a basic setting and it does not adapt clutches ... vcds is not able to do it !!! You can only do it with ODIS - clutches adapt will you are driving in 3 and 4 gears (1 and 2 clutch) and its all done with ODIS! What you did is pointless ... sorry 😐

If anyone is concerned about warranty, do not touch the ECU or anything else. It is a Federal/EPA violation to unlock/open ECU. If you can afford to buy a 60-70k plus vehicle and mod it,, then there should be lots of $ in the bank.

MasterCarguy44 appreciate the heads up, just as a FYI using the VCDS program only serves as a diagnostic tool rather than a unlocking ECU tool. It’s used by thousands of people daily to diagnose issues and or help with normal maintenance 👍👍
