Great video Ben…first one I’ve watched of yours but the best video of Chesil I’ve seen. Had my first trip with the big rods for a few years a couple of weeks ago. Was going well until dark and the relentless straps appeared. When did they become a thing? When I fished Chesil a lot 10+ years ago you got some nice congers in autumn but never the plague if bootlaces around now. Anyway top fishing as always.
@benstockley42782 ай бұрын
Thanks Mike! Good to hear you’ve got the rods out again. 👍 Yes those straps have been a plague for the last 5 or 6 years now, never seem to get any bigger!

What a great video. 100% agree with crab freezing.i do the same. Refuse dead peelers thrown into a bag and frozen, stink and are mushy, the flesh quality is effected by decomposing lungs and shell dirt, plus seems to take longer to freeze.

A great watch and education, thanks, Ben/VMO. Assuming you sell it, what line does Ben use for his flapper rig/snoods, please?
@benstockley42782 ай бұрын
Thanks for watching Ian, I really appreciate it. 👍 On this occasion for the flappers, I used 60lb clear Amnesia rig bodies and 25lb clear Amnesia snoods. Fished a bit heavier in case a Trigger turned up. 👍

Hi Ben, just found you....were based inshore from bridport. Would you advocate leaving the micro pout on for a cod bait? Ive only just moved here, its amethod weve used historically. Cheers, rich
@benstockley42782 ай бұрын
Hi Rich. You could try livebaiting but probably more effective for an eel or a ray at present as most of the Codling are only around 2lbs. 👍

Heading up from Swansea to Chesil on the weekend for our first time, is there any way of finding where the wreck is located ?
@benstockley42782 ай бұрын
Hi Josh. I can’t give the location of this one away really mate as it only holds 2 anglers and it would quickly become very crowded. If it’s a wreck you’re looking to fish you have the landing craft at the Portland end of the Ferrybridge carpark or the Adelaide to the right of the Chesil Centre. Both will hold a lot of different species and the chance of a trigger fish.
@dr4gon1662 ай бұрын
Can you please state line strength rather than diameter, diameter means squat all. Each manufacturer has different strengths for different diameters. Other than that great video Ben!
@VealsMailOrder28982 ай бұрын
@@dr4gon166 It’s better to select a line based on its diameter rather than its breaking strain. Diameter can be accurately measured and has greater bearing on practical fishing than a breaking strain. Low diameter lines can be cast further but are more susceptible to damage. Thicker lines are more abrasion resistant but will not cast so far. For example, if you always buy line that is 20lb breaking strain, one brand could be 0.36mm, another could be 0.43mm. One of those two lines will cast much further than the other. Diameter is incredibly important and many anglers purchase line based on it.
