At 11.08 I found that if you lock the camera in front of the mesh before clicking 'From Mesh' in the Brush Pallette you get a clean result. Great tutorial!

Hey Nick, thanks for making the video! A quick note, they moved the Brush3dTemplate to Project > Misc instead of Project > Brush3dTemplate

Thanks for adding this, I made this video with the last beta release right before public release so thank you for that! :)

looks good and I tried it but got a very flat brush. any idea what went wrong in the process?
@nickzucc7 жыл бұрын
Itai lustgarten not too sure, make sure you are using a chisel brush to create your brush with. Also every now and then it would produce just a regular alpha and not a vector alpha, the alpha depth preview can clue you in that this happened, I think there is a point in the video where this happens to me, I deleted the brush and created a new one.
@itailu7 жыл бұрын
nickzucc thanks for the reply sometimes it comes out flat and at times it just extrudes a part of the sculpted brush. strange
@XGTheBoss7 жыл бұрын
Itai lustgarten you need to make sure your brush intensity is at 100 for it to work properly, you also need to go in your brush settings and have the brush's elevation at 0 (on surface) :)

can i save those and use these vector displacements in arnold renderer for example?`
@nickzucc7 жыл бұрын
enterb possibly, look at the alpha that it produces and export it out. But then you would be displacing your ego on a flat plane in Maya. Give it a try and report back!

Why was this released exactly yesterday? were you not allowed to publish it earlier?

Yes, they wanted everyone to wait to release content after they announced the release of ZB4R5.

I don't know about a trial yet, if you have a previous version of ZBrush go here to upgrade www.zbrushcentral.com/showthread.php?207225-ZBrush-4R8-Available-Now!

I made the video for someone that is just interested in this feature, there will be tons of videos made here on out that cover this topic along with all the other cool tools that they created for this version, but yes if you want a detailed overview of all the tools then go back to the captured livestream that Pixologic held yesterday! kzbin.info/www/bejne/nJjNhX-BeZKkiJI

Thank you for the explanation and the great tutorial!! One question though, how did you create the legs brushes? The same way you did with the other brushes? Is it possible somehow to also use the zspheres and combine it with the brush3dTemplate?
@nickzucc7 жыл бұрын
ErikaDResinCurves the legs are actually insert mesh brushes. So if you are using Dynamesh you can insert them remesh real quick. You can still use the VDM brushes with Dynamesh as well! To make an insert mesh brush create a model, orient the camera as if it is looking too down on the model, hit b fro the brush menu and hit the insert mesh button at the bottom of the menu to create your insert mesh brush. Now drag out your newly created brush on a mesh that has no sub d levels.

Thank you nickzucc, I will try this right away!!

I feel like the insert brush is more flexible.
@nickzucc7 жыл бұрын
ARTIST BLOCK I understand what you are saying, but there times in production where you may not be able to change topology, that and when you dynamesh an insert there is usually an edge to clean up, so I think there are pros and cons. That is why there are multiple brush types, now you have a choice as to which one best suits the job you are trying to accomplish.
@RubbinRobbin7 жыл бұрын
What's the point of all of this if Dynameshes resolution is capped restricting all of these brushes to a sphere. It's just not practical.
