Zbrush 4R8 SVG Import

In this Tutorial I'll show you how to Create and Export SVG's out of Photoshop to use in Zbrush 4R8.

Thanks, Glenn! It's a little funny, though. Importing vectors (AI, EPS or SVG is something that almost ALL 3D programs offer, and it's just now coming to ZBrush. Beter late than never! But it sure opens up a lot of possibilities, especially if you're working in Adobe Illustrator and can leverage its much more advanced tools and workflow.

Hey. I could not do something like this :( Maybe there are some other ways to import svg into zbrush. The Text function works, but there is no svg. On the official website, this information is described very briefly, it is not clear that the parameters should be saved when saving. Is it realistic to export SVG from coreldraw?

Hey, nice tutorial! I've tried to make my own svg file, but every time i loaded in zbrush it show me "Unsupported file". I have a svg file from course for zbrush and it's only one file that zbrush can open without error. I'll be glad if you can help me to understand where the problem is. Btw, video is really nice)

Do you by chance have a link to the svg your having problems with, Zbrush can be sensitive on how some are made. Might try running it through illustrator or Inkscape and exporting through dedicated vector programs.

I have ZBrush 2018. I repeat after you, but I do not have SVG inserted in ZBrush. Remains the same text, what am I doing wrong?

I'll have to run through the process again tonight after work and see if there's something wrong with Zbrush 2018, haven't tried it in 2018

Unsure what happened on your end, but just tried it with Photoshop CC 2019 and Zbrush 2018.1 and it worked. Here's my Steps 1. In PS create and Merge your shape together on to one shape layer 2. Delete all other layers but your one shape layer 3. Then export out by File/Export/Export as, select file type as .SVG 4. In Zbrush select Polymesh 3D tool, click t for edit 5. Open Plugins Text 3D, instead of doing edit SVG do New SVG, your shape should be in a New Subtool now and you can adjust your bevels and extrusions. Hope this Helps you out.

Actually you can go higher on the Text/SVG subdivisions, you just have to enter them manually, like 14, 15

I use affinity designer for my SVG files and Zbrush doesn't support the file! Any clues on why does this happen? (I tried Inkscape, same result) I downloaded SVG from Internet and works. I don't know what's the difference :(

+Aniarts I'm uncertain why it's not working. You might try to import them into other vector programs. Also see if the file will load in your browser. More then likely it being a new plugin for Zbrush, there might be some bug in there. Sorry I can't be more help, I don't use those programs.

I had the same exact problem, it was really annoying, but I found the solution. See I have SSD and HDD, if I save the SVG on SSD zbrush will not say anymore UNSUPPORTED FILE, but if I have exactly the same file in HDD it will screem UNSUPPORTED FILE. I have no idea why this is happening I just found it out about 4min ago. So open your file from SSD and not HDD Glenn Patterson if you don't mind could you pin this so that everybody else could also see why their SVG are not working.

Inkscape: inkscape.org/en/ is a good, free alternative to Illustrator for vector illustration, if people don't have Illustrator.
