Vectorman - Sega's Answer to Donkey Kong Country - Player One Start

I still believe that donkey kong country still dominated the console war, to which has in fact saved the SNES from its downfall. But Vectorman is in Fact a good game as well in its own way.

Sega seriously needs to bring back this awesome franchise. I just got way too much obsession with the character in a lot of ways. I really like how Vectorman as a character just stands out to me.

It would probably have been a 3rd person platformer/shooter/adventure game, similar to Soul Reaver. These kind of games rarely made the 32-bit transition as sidescrollers. Graphics would probably have looked similar to what we see here, but rougher and less polished because they'd have been rendered in realtime.

The Mega Drive/Genesis has an amazing sound chip that can surpass the Snes if you have someone who actually knows how to use it. Just look up 'Savaged Regime' on KZbin. Amongst his amazing tracks all using original hardware, he remade a couple of Vectorman ones that sound amazing. A lot of sound designers for the console back in the day were not willing to take the time to actually learn how to really use it, which gave the machine a very undeserved reputation for sound. In the right hands it makes arcade-quality magic.

You got that right because SOR 2 and the Sonic series have the best music on the system.

Vectorman and Vectorman 2 kick so much ass, and are still masterpieces to this day. Never cared for the DKC trilogy.

Sadly the main reason Vectorman's momentum in the gaming community was killed off was because they released this game 4 or 5 months after Sega Japan ordered their western branches to discontinue the Genesis/Mega-Drive in order to focus all resources on trying to save the Sega Saturn in North America and Europe at the time.

I found vetcorman to be a frustrating affair. The graphics are good but donkey has more detail The gameplay 🤔- a bit on the repetitive & hard side . That sfx of the blaster is sooooooo annoying Some enemies attack patterns was just unfairly programmed. Vectorman would have been a better game if. 1.There was no time limit I don’t what is up with sega & time limits 2.the game had a word map/stage select & save feature 3.it was more of a collectathon game. Where ur goal is to rid the stages of all the bots instead of reaching the end of a level & fighting a boss like sonic .! At any point u can teleport back to the world map 🗺️ The world map should have been. Vetcorman in is ship and cycling through the stages . When u select a stage he jumps out the ship after u have landed and saved once then he teleports to that save location when u select the stage . Every drafted enemy, he straps on a little jet not that rockets the wreckage to the barg . The whole point of the game is to send all the bots to the barg where he can fly them to the sun in the end of the game .!! Not only would it have made more sense it would have been a way more fun game
