Very cool! You're motivating me to purchase one of these lathe attachments for my CNC.

Great video thanks, my question is your wood is attached to your chuck side by how, it appears that you have 2 washer looking things , I want to know what they are, you are using them instead of having the chuck itself grab the outside?
@rashwood47907 ай бұрын
not sure if this is a good idea or not. but have you ever used any kind of colored epoxy when doing you spiral cuts. i have to assume that it would have to be done while prepping your wood

I’m curious how you’d mill a pattern into a slight conical, or tapered, stock instead of cylinder. Careful measurement of the actual stock and then model in vectric?

You have to have a controller. You must first send the file to your controller. I am not aware of how you could send straight to your machine. There has to be some sort of software that tells the CNC machine what to do. I use WINCNC. Mach3 is another popular control software.

Hi Jeff. My name is David. I really love your work, I´m new in this kind of work, few days a go we buyed a machine cnc and we have no much experience in that, but I love it... I´m learning, I need to know how import other kind of tools for vectric, have you any video of that? Thanks, and congratulations! (sorry for my english I´m from Mexico)

I have a video here on the channel for importing tools. Happy to help any way I can. send me email of questions in English or Spanish I will answer you. Thanks for watching. jefonitoo@gmail.com

Great video! Could you me explain how to create a continuous rotary profile? I´m using aspire vectric but only I get that my A axes turn 360 degrees, and then it returns to 0 degrees every time.
@WorkAgainstTheGrain8 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching. Unfortunately to get a continuous rotary profile you must program or write the GCode yourself. The Vectric products currently do not allow this operation as far as I know, as it uses the rotary axis as an indexer NOT a lathe. There are some companies that provide software for THEIR machines that allow you to do continuous rotary machining, Legacy CNC being one of them. They offer a conversational cam software to those that purchase their machines. Other than that manually programming is the only option I am aware of.
@diegoroldangarcia64418 жыл бұрын
Oh thanks. I will study it slowly to understand.
@LDBecker5 жыл бұрын
Work Against The Grain I know this an older video... this part is confusing. I considered a Legacy machine for this kind of operation, but it is just too big... I ended up ordering a Laguna IQ with a 4th axis and Aspire. You talk about “manually programming the G-code” - can you go into that with a little bit more detail? That’s a critical point for being able to do this. Thanks!

Hi Jeff, great video! Thanks for sharing. Can you direct me to resources where I can learn how to write the G code for continuous rotary profile?
@WorkAgainstTheGrain8 жыл бұрын
search rotary gcode in Google. LOTS of information. there is definitely a bit of a learning curve. once you get basic programming codes, run some tests with no tool and no spindle running. just takes lots of reading and lots of practice. gcode programming search in Google is how I learned. best of luck.

Are you by chance using Mach3 with your Camaster Recoil? I'm having problems getting my getting my A axis to spin at a speed faster than a crawl when running a cut file. I know it has something to do with the A-axis cutting in degrees and the Y-Axis cutting in inches, but the solution escapes me...

No sir. I'm using WinCnc. If you'll email the gcode file in happy to have a look. Jefonitoo@gmail.com

Are you running two different cut files for the rounding and the carving?
@WorkAgainstTheGrain10 жыл бұрын
Yes. Although since this video I have learned how to combine the 2. However in this instance, yes sir it was two separate files. One for rounding and a second for the twist.

Why my little machine say to start from the tail end instead from the head?
@WorkAgainstTheGrain6 жыл бұрын
Carl Zorro not really sure. Would need more information
@ccccen6 жыл бұрын
Yes, I have a Sears wood crafter and on the book it says to do jobs from tail end to the cup, from left to right of the machine ,which is a manual little machine but makes nice legs and candle holders etc.

Why does it spin back to A0? That seems like wasted motion.

Jason Eads it's just the way I programmed it. Because it was first time programming I over did it on being safe. Programming it to not return to zero would be faster. Thanks for watching.

Hi...whenever i design wrapping job, i get very strange results where the wrap gets together. it looks like it does not go all the 360 deg. and in that location machine makes a nasty groove....it seems like no one knows the solution...i also applied an offset of 50% of tool diameter and it has not change the problem. It does the same thing when I create design in aspire or i import STL file made in other 3d cad.

cezary zbikowski Hi, yes, I have been trying to duplicate since our last discussion and my suggestion of changing raster strategy of roughing tool path. Can you please send a picture and Aspire file to jefinitoo@gmail.com. Tough to communicate via KZbin comments. It has to be a raster or boundary offset causing issue if only on roughing pass. if you can send pic and file Im confident I can help sort it out.
@joseperes7777 жыл бұрын
Excellent , i will do it right now.
@joseperes7777 жыл бұрын
It looks to me right now, like the wrapping gadget does not close completely the element. On the simulation I can see clearly that two ends dont join together perfectly.
