Love this! Awesome work. Just a small remark: You say the dust particles are cheap to render, but It does take quite a long time actually. I have 2 RTX 4090 and it's very slow. When I look at your example in your pesentation here, it also renders very slow. Or is there a setting I missed here?

Yeah the DOF effect and bokeh takes a while. You can also play with Ray Epsilon to improve speed

in you're in 2023+ c4d I'd just use a grid spline + plain effectors to scale segments to nearly a point and push apart for a wide spread in a polyfx, add a rope tag, use turbulence and add an octane hair tag and you get custom non uniform dust blowing around and it renders like .5 sec a frame with extreme shallow DOF too - its probably the best "dust" method I've ever used - super flexible easy to set up (like 3 min tops) and is fully dynamic with objects in the scene if you want collisions. Sims stupid quickly too and like I said renders extremely fast. There are a bazillion ways for dust I just like having a rig that's flexible I can pull into any scene and press play. Even bake some alembics for more portability.
