I've used both, and it's hard to pick my favorite because I like them for different reasons! I'm not quick enough yet to use acrylic WELL, so polygel let's me take my time. However, polygel doesn't adhere as well to my nail plate so I'm constantly fighting lifting. I've tried using protein bond, general non-acidic primer, rubber base, and even acidic primer. I know that a lot has to do with my application, but even with my unskilled application of acrylic, acrylic will stay.

😂😂😂 I know that feeling. You did great, just don’t use too much slip solution. It’s just to keep your brush wet and to help you maneuver the product. Total opposite of monomer. Next time, try dipping and then letting your lint free towel/wipe soak up the remainder before touching the gel. Each product/brand is different, you just have to play with them to find which works best for you. Thanks so much for sharing, and your awesome for trying new things✨

It took me a several applications before I trained my brain to let go of all of my acrylic knowledge and start fresh. I learned the hard way that the product will become too wet and run into my cuticle area ( my cuticles are ridiculous and are never flush with the nail bed) causing a huge headache for me. Eventually I stopped caring about a flawless application (like my acrylic application) and focused on one bead at a time. Poly gel is so easy to file so I know it will look amazing. Best tip I have is make sure you use as little slip solution as possible near the cuticle and remember it’s all about your finishing filing game!

I’m not a nail tech but I do my own nails everyday... I wanted to try Makartt polygel so I ordered a kit with the lamp included. I love that I have an apex BUT poly gel takes patience! I had the same exact issues you had with the brush gumming up, stickiness and the pooling of the slip solution. I put my poly gel in warm water to make it a little more pliable. Overall it took 6 hours partly because I don’t have a nail drill and I’m super picky about my filing which is why I do my own nails! I’m hoping the more I use this product the easier it will become because I love Makartt’s products! The colors are beautiful! Another side note... I found that nail polish really doesn’t go on well over the gel especially if you put the top coat of gel on first. So if you’re one that changes colors daily like me, it’s NOT good for that! I’m learning to live with this color but I will probably try putting gel polish over them! Joy! Can’t wait to see how long the soak off time will be but they look amazing and actually look like a professional did them! Apex was easy which surprised me too! Thank you for your video!

When I use polygel I usually just put one big strip down the length of the nail and make sure your brush is always wet. Once it gets sticky dip your brush but you don’t want to flood it bc it breaks down the product and will run in your cuticles. When you clean your brush u just use clear gel bc you really actually need to keep some gel in your brush to keep it conditioned.

Since I've been coming back into doing nails from 10 years ago, I started out this time with using polygel. I was using Madam Glam. Which is a really nice polygel brand. I like it, but I think I prefer acrylic better because it dries a lot faster and you don't have to cure every finger before going to the next finger. However polygel is really strong I never had a nail break and it's good for beginners since it only dries once you cure it. Thank you for sharing, you did a great job and I love the nude color.

After the shutdown I tried acrylic for about 2 months and then moved onto poly gels. I usually use the dual forms but you can freehand once the base is there. A set will last about 1-2 months this is with doing fills and addressing any uplift. Now my mom also tried plygel and they would uplift quickly. I think it's because she didn't do good filing and it would cause snags and uplift. For me Iove Makartt and highly recommend them

I do dip powder nails on myself, I have been recently getting into acrylic and have been loving it !! I find it quite difficult to apply it to myself, but I will keep practicing!! Never tried polygel but i’m super interested after watching this video

Love it! You really are so talented as you make everything look so easy! It didn’t even seem like your first time using poly gel. I realized for me that if I use the incorrect amount of slip solution/alcohol it makes the poly gel super sticky. Too little or too much.

Hey Vee,. I love polygel. I have tried both and feel polygel is more user friendly. I am a beginner so polygel has made it easier to maintain some length in my nails without going to a nail shop.

Using a patting method works best over pulling. Also, like someone else mentioned, using alcohol as your slip works really well. That’s what I’ve always used and you don’t want your brush too wet or too dry. Makartts polygel is good but is on the stickier side so you just have to wet often. I don’t find that I have to actually wipe my brush off much at all.

I’ve tried polygel, builder gel and acrylic and I like that with the gels you have as much time as u need. U can also wipe it all off and start over if u fuck up (as long as u haven’t cured yet). There is no overwhelming odor compared to monomer. It’s pretty easy to encapsulate and filing is not as intense as the gels are much softer. The only thing I do prefer about acrylic is the strength and durability. I feel like I break far more nails with polygel/builder gel and if you don’t have a really good lamp, curing can be a pain in the butt

I learned polygel and gel before acrylic. I’m still learning acrylic and thank goodness for your videos because you’re a huge help. I prefer polygel but I think once I get acrylic down pat I’m sure I’d choose acrylic.

Great video. I am a gel tech and have tried a little acrylic as well as couple poly gels. It seems some poly gels are much stickier than others. No two are created the same. Thanks for the video!

Hey Vee! You did an awesome job! I prefer polygel because it gives me time to get it right before I set it. With acrylic I have to work faster since it sets itself. I really want to be great at acrylic though because it’s what a lot of people prefer.

Yes I’ve tried polygel. I love polygel, especially this brand. I have the pink, green and their almost pink natural collections and it’s so great. The slip solution from gelish is awesome and rubbing alcohol the 90%. It takes time figuring out a method of application that works for you but when you figure it out it’s awesome. You can’t pat on it hard or it gets messy. It’s an awesome product though. ❤️ Your designs are amazing queen. Keep being awesome. Also this product is one where slip solution is the number one thing you need to move the product around amazingly. It lasts long when applied well. You can do the same things with polygel as you do acrylic and I usually use the clear polygel to encapsulate my designs as well. To clean the brush you can use the alcohol and acetone. That’s what I did. But each time I’ve bought their products I get the forms and new brush and new file as well. I prefer polygel over acrylic but I find you get more options with the acrylic. Polygel is more easier to use based on the fact that it doesn’t dry as fast as acrylic.

I’ve just started doing my nails 3 months ago and have only used polygel. It’s more of a patting motion with the brush rather than swiping like with acrylic. I use isopropyl alcohol rather than slip solutions as it seems to work far better but you don’t need to use much at all. My favourite brand of polygel is Happy gel by ENC. it’s the easiest to use but Makartt makes the most clear ‘clear’ of any brand. You only need the base coat on the natural nail but you should buff the surface of the tips so the polygel can grip it and not cause lifting. Hope those tips help 😀. Your nails turned out amazing!

Hey! Polygel is what I started nails with. I prefer it over acrylic because I still work pretty slowly and with polygel, I have all the time I need to shape it to my liking. This set came out great btw 💜

I have tried it and I prefer acrylic/dip powders but I still use it depending on the set and I use clear poly gel for large gem placement and I love it because they don't come off and it allows me to reuse the gem (on myself of course)

I started off learning to use polygel first and I really like it. Starting off it was a disaster, but with practice it became a lot easier. Since I am still learning to use acrylic, right now I do prefer polygel.

I tried poly gel before trying acrylic and I much prefer acrylic. Acrylic is softer and way more controllable! You did absolutely awesome btw!! These nails are utterly stunning!! ♥️🧡💚

I have used polygel and it's not that bad. I like gels and acrylic. So polygel is a game change since its a combo of both products. You nails came out great. I hope to get to this level soon. Keep doing it big.

I definitely prefer polygel over acrylic now! I just started using it just a few months ago and am in LOVE! They last a really long time too💅 it does take some getting used to but once you get the hang of it you got it! I love how yours turned out!! Much love 💖

I love both, the difference with acrylic is that we can create a lot of color compared to polygel. The application with polygel is so much easier than acrylic because it's easy to fix since it doesn't dry until you put it under the uv/led light verses acrylic when you're new, it is hard, because not only you need to understand the liquid ratio and beads but it does dry very fast. But both give beautiful results.
