Absolutely agree that we need a legal definition of "plant based". Here in NZ we had "100% plant based nuggets" that contained cow's milk and a butter and steak TV advert that claimed its products are plant based because their cows eat grass 😡

Love to see baby vegans! I tried to go vegan as a teen but it was the '80s and my parents yelled at me over it so now I'm happy to be back in the fold at 59. Been vegan since the beginning of the pandemic. Give yourself this gift now and you will live a beautiful life ❤

Love this! The UPF articles frustrate me too, they are sadly just trying to give veganism bad press. I always check plant based options as in some fast food chains it means they use real cheese, mayo or there is milk in the buns etc or they have insects / the food is cooked on same grills as meat. I try to see the positive that more people will eat vegan food from it.

Thank you for bringing animal research to light - we feel it is taking 2nd place to veganism and yet is the heart of animal rights as testing on animals abhorrent in all it's forms; cosmetics, toiletries, household products and medical research. Humane non-animal research is out there and being taking onboard by alot of researchers, just not enough of them and not quickly enough either. The Humane Research Trust and AnimalFree Research U.K are two great ones to support; if you care about animals please support these two medical charities not Cancer Research U.K etc. Contact us for a list of the charities that do test and those that don't, thanks.

I remember when eating plant based meant you ate foods that didn’t come with an ingredient list, food from the earth, it was more about health. I used to explain as a vegan I eat Oreos, but a person on a plant based focus diet wouldn’t. Though it is positive that the food market is thinking about how can they can compete with the non-vegan options, if that means hiding the word vegan on the back I’m good with that!

Another awesome first Nicole video of 2025. I have been vegan for 9 years and I always try to eat vegan whole plant foods the majority of the time with a few ultra processed foods. I wouldn't eat hybrid products. Love 🥰 the video and love 💕 Nicole.

I imagine we'll see more and more pushback, annoying narratives and misinformation. But it's all part of longer term growth. My main worry is just more generally businesses will struggle badly, and so many vegan companies, cafes, restaurants are small businesses that might not survive the year. Hope we see vegan events keep going and growing though. I really want to make more vegan friends this year. Good luck for 2025 and happy new year!
@VeganBeautyGirlАй бұрын
ABSOLUTELY! the misinformation is a real frustration. we see it everywhere these days! completely agree, regarding vegan businesses. over the last year we saw a few switch to serving some meat too which i thinks hugely frustrating but also a real ethical dilemma.... is it better to support a business that's introduced meat (to try and stay afloat) but is 80% vegan? or let them go out of business and be replaced by a kebab shop or burger king?
@MissNannyLakeАй бұрын
I was under the impression that “plant based” strictly applied to food/diet and not necessarily animal rights. So someone who follows a plant based diet is eating a vegan diet, but may still use animal products (like purchasing leather goods or using cosmetic products that aren’t vegan). I could be totally wrong, but that was my assumption/understanding of plant based diets.
@conversationswithcharisАй бұрын
Exactly my understanding too. Folk may want to eat what is essentially a dairy free vegetarian diet (ie plant based) but may still use products tested on animals, wear leather etc., quite a clear definition between the two.

Genuinely curious. What are your thoughts about substituting all these animal products (like fur and feathers) with synthetic materials that don't bio-degrade?
@MammothMoralsАй бұрын
Veganism is solely about animal rights. Any environmental benefit is only a plus. If you’re doing it for the environment then it’s plant based. As for your question. I’d weigh up the environmental impact of the fur and feather industries against the impact of the non bio degradable alternatives. Whilst also keeping in mind the cruelty of the fur and feather industries.
@VeganBeautyGirlАй бұрын
think it's a really interesting question! personally, find there's enough second hand clothing on this planet that we don't really need anything new whether that's from an animal or synthetic. i think the quality and environmental impact of vegan alternatives def need to improve - it's all on it's way!

Bring on phasing out animal testing 🙌🙌 one thing about cultured meat - could represent a new way for animal ag to continue operating on black market? Also, it could mean that going back to eating real meat is less of a big deal mentally for some people. Especially abroad where PB diets are harder to find

just as a point an its own i find the term plant based absolutely enraging 😭 it makes things confusing and it just sounds silly to me, im sure nobody would use it this way but a bowl of chips with dairy cheese and bacon on top is plant-based, it just doesn’t scream 100% safe, but its more frustrating if a restaurant uses it instead of the vegan symbol because you can’t turn it over and check
@VeganBeautyGirlАй бұрын
my aunt had a butter at hers which she thought i could have bc it had 'plant proteins' or something on the packaging... double checked and it contained butter milk! of course, they didn't use the term 'plant based' but i think just adding 'plant' anything creates confusion and the illusion of being 'vegan'. thankfully she didn't cook me anything using it but god, it's gonna get confusing for people out there!

Its completely natural and normal for the vegan message ( Diet ) to move slowly. Its partly the image of most vegans having no children or regular hectic lifestyle with toddlers and teenagers. Also Having 2 jobs to pay bills, also the image of vegans being young , late teens to late twenties. Also humans been eating meat since our primitive ancestors is engrained deeply in our psyche of appropriate foods ... the vegan Brand really needs some older individuals with children/ Grandchildren which are all 100 % vegan from birth to show all tall, strong, healthy and well developed..so i think going forward the vegan brand image needs to be where the change is . Finally you have lots of young ladies in bikinis with slim perfect bodies in an overseas warm climate while the UK can have some cold months during the winter... so its a Brand Image thing moving forward , and not just information 😊

The meat industry has been attacking plant-based meat alternatives by claiming they are Ultra processed. The question is what is better for you- plant-based meat or the meat it replaces? One Trend might be to make plant-based meat products healthier like Beyond Meat has done recently by switching to avocado oil Etc.

Good program. 'bout half way through & into the "Cultivated meat" part. Really don't think think this is a great idea. Wherever we've had new food products -Chocolate bars (for example) - even some of the ingredients has been tested on Animals. Yes, I'm thinking of Mars bars amongst others. Once Cultivated Meat is available cheaply it will be fed to animals in LD50 experiments. People will never have had the chance to be strong (er) & just say they don't want to eat meat because it comes from Animals. Instead, they were babied into 'needing' a replacement. Then, there's environmental hazards, energy needed for storage , & consequently environmental destruction - 有又 it's all a mad circle of ☠️.

I hope the vegan population size stays the same as it is now, a nice churn of people from standard diet to vegan and then finally on to carnivore for the best health :) It's best that people discover that plants really are unhealthy for themselves so that they can recognize the benefits for a 90+ % meat diet.

Only thing i dont understand is… isnt it better to kill 1 grass fed cow per year, than kill millions of small animals from pesticides etc?? Less animal suffering?
@helenapflaum6800Ай бұрын
No. “Grass-fed” is not a regulated term, and all cows are fed some amount of grass, that has to grown in a field and be harvested and preserved for off seasons (killing critters in the process.) Grass-fed only requires more land and produces more methane, Earthling Ed has some videos on this, Our World in Data has graph that disprove this argument. Vegan diets have been shown to produce less greenhouse gases, use less resources, and create less biodiversity loss, plus they also lower the risk of zoonotic diseases outbreaks all which help animals far more. (Source: oxford Study on Vegan, Vegetarian, Dietary Impacts.) Additionally, all necessary nutrients can not be gained from “one cow per year.” Stop spreading misinformation.
@denizkenger52Ай бұрын
Your point would be more suitable for 100% grass fed/ grass finished. Most grass feds are around 70% grass fed. Apart from that, even for grass finished, in winter there is still grass being grazed because animal won’t be able to eat grass naturally in winter time so it’s collected beforehand. That collection process does kill smaller animals. So that’s every winter. Other death causing factor is land clearance which is one and done but a large amount of land in one being cleared to plant grass there so many small animals would die when that is done. But it doesn’t need to continuously be cleared, so once done, it’s fine but that 1 time has a large amount of death.
