Vegan Baked Fried Green Tomatoes with a Cajun Dipping Sauce | Chef Ani

One of the beauties of summer is all those beautiful red tomatoes that are so prevalent this time of year. They taste and look amazing, but what about the green ones, can they be used too? Yes, indeed, and quite deliciously if I you ask me. This recipe is one of my dad’s absolute favorite recipes. He grew up down South and often remembers Green Fried Tomatoes with nostalgic warmth. Of course, the ones he grew up with were neither vegan nor baked, but we found a way to make them a little healthier without sacrificing taste. So, today we are making my dad’s favorite: Vegan Baked Fried Green Tomatoes.

Fried green tomatoes? Cajun Spice? Now you're speaking my language. Your father has good taste. I may actually make this recipe. Then again, I say that often and rarely follow through. Sorry to hear your Tomatoes were bruised during the hurricane. Hopefully your insurance should cover the damages. I was actually in the basement that day as well. Had my batterries with me, and legal documents. We never lost power. Which is good because many in my town were 3 days without power. #blessed. Glad to see you are safe and sound.

Great question! Bake at 400 F for 12-13 minutes, flip and bake the other side for an additional 12-13 minutes. Here is a link to my recipe: chefani.com/vegan-baked-fried-green-tomatoes/

Great question! I would think so, but it may change the texture.
