I think the dunkin beyond sandwich didn’t do well because it came with eggs and cheese. And they charged you full price if you asked for just sausage and muffin.

YES i agree!! it was only vegetarians who really benefitted, and not those who are health-consious which are most of them, so pretty much just people who don't like the taste of meat or eat less for environmental reasons which is such a small number of people

Am I the only one who finds these prices for fast food - vegan or not (almost 8 bucks for 6 small nuggets, 10 for a starter with some rice) insane? I am glad that vegan options are becoming more and more mainstream but this is not affordable for the average person, at all. Looking forward to the day when vegan options at reasonable/competitive prices are the norm...

It's because "The U.S government spends $38 billion each year to subsidize the meat and dairy industries, but only 0.04 percent of that (i.e., $17 million) each year to subsidize fruits and vegetables." according to this article: scet.berkeley.edu/wp-content/uploads/CopyofFINALSavingThePlanetSustainableMeatAlternatives.pdf The government wants to keep people unhealthy so they have to use resources like medical care. The more unhealthy you are the more money you are theoretically going to spend on healthcare, dieting, and other weight loss alternatives to pad their pockets.

Love your guy's fast food videos. Please keep doing them. Very helpful. I'm excited to try Chipotle's new vegan option. I really enjoy the KFC vegan option as well. I haven't been to a KFC in a very long time,so I'm glad they have a vegan option now.

I get why some people are uncomfortable w the cross contamination, but this HAS to do well. If it does it makes vegan food more mainstream accepted and more places will add similar options. If it does not do well, places will not think the demand is there and we don't make any progress.

Agree 👍 because we don't want them to get rid of their vegan options due to a lack of demand and fast food chain options by non vegan companies are more likely to be cheaper than vegan only fast food chains.

But HOW is it a "vegan" option if it's technically not vegan? Is it advertised as a VEGAN option? No. Some of you are calling it such - and this is what I take issue with. If cooking it in the same oil as the chicken is not a problem for some of you, why not cook your meals with bacon grease then? Use regular butter? Seems like a lot of picking and choosing for convenience.

@@meet_ze_monsta_82 The main thing is that the man who founded Beyond founded it for meat eaters who are looking for more plant based options or are trying to transition, but are still wary about it- which is why beyond products are always found in the meat section. I agree that they probably shouldn't have marketed it as vegan, but it makes sense in context to the demographic they're trying to pull in. The vegan part is mostly for people who eat meat to let them know "hey, this is plant based and tastes like something you're familiar with!" so they'll give it a try without being extremely wary or overly cautious/more open minded about it. Hope what I said makes sense and didn't come off as being rude or anything!

Plus, I am just SO excited most major fast food chains are offering more realistic vegan options to hit that nostalgic spot :D I think we are heading towards a more plant-forward future. I'm so glad you mentioned the cross contamination. It reminds us that it's 1 step at a time. Idk about other places but here in Rochester, NY the prices have stayed pretty stable in grocery stores. I've also noticed more high end brands being offered at Aldi's and Tops. If the demand is high "they will come"! I can't wait to try KFC. They have the best coleslaw. I make my own and it tastes just like it!

Me too. I think it kinda flopped because to make it vegan you had to order the sandwich without egg and cheese so it was a little pricey if you were veganizing it. Some people were able to do an order hack at their location and order an English muffin and sausage patty separate but my location didn’t allow that :(

I worked at a Dunkin and I gotta say it was well worth it while I was working for the company but they should definitely bring it back like why not? It’s a vegan option available for anyone why they have to take it away I actually enjoyed the option when it was available

Honestly it was just okay.. definitely tasted like tofu rather than what I remember orange chicken tasting like. Fully support it as a vegan option in an otherwise non vegan fast food place like Panda but wouldn't actively seek it out again tbh. Everyone is different though so I do hope they bring it back and you get to try it for yourself

I never went to Panda Express because I honestly thought the only thing I could eat off their menu was the rice which I could literally just make at home. Otherwise, I definitely would have contributed to trying to get them to keep it.

I called my local KFC to find out how they cooked them. The man was honest. He said we cook them in the same oil as the French fries and we also cook the popcorn chicken in that same oil. So you should find out first.

When I tried the Beyond Orange Chicken, I thought it was good in the context of Panda Express but not amazing overall. There was a slight metallic taste to it which I'm assuming was from whatever Panda Express cooked it in. Some texture variance and good flavors. I'm glad it exists and hope they expand it to all stores.

Just wanted to comment as a non vegan I love your videos. I love vegan food and am always excited to add vegetarian options into my families diet. I don’t think my family will ever be able to go fully vegan but your videos make it look attainable for myself at least and it makes me excited every time you guys post one of these taste test videos!

I like your attitudes and agree with you. A lot of vegans can be so militant that they do more harm than good. Whereas if you at least SUPPORT a business TRYING to go more plant based, you actually might make some real change down the line... And I have to admit, I'd have trouble going into a KFC and getting anything-- even vegan. But none the less, if I HAD to get fast food somewhere, I'd be glad to have a vegan option. When I first became a vegetarian many years ago, there was literally NOTHING for us beyond maybe fruit or salad. So we've come a long way!

The point is supporting someone for at least putting SOMETHING plant based on their menu. If no one goes in and gets their plant based chicken, then they'll stop making it. I’ve tried the chipotle and the kfc. My partner and I thought the kfc was so freaking good! We both really liked the chorizo also but I prefer sofritas. I wish the Panda Express was available at more locations!

I love that Chipotle bowl, with brown rice & the green salsa that makes it even more spicy😋, but I hate when the rice is not cooked thoroughly 😑, the nuggets I want but too much sodium! The real forks out of no where😆😆😆 as a fellow planner I get it👍🏾

I got the beyond orange chicken and it was so freaking good. Might have been because it was fresh too because we went pretty early. It was really crisp on the outside and super flavorful with a little bit of spiciness. Tasted so good with the noodles. Only got to have it once tho cuz they don't have it in my area Tried the chipotle too and that was good but spicy

We were scared too. But finally did it. It was ok. Don’t think I would get it again unless there were no other options but we didn’t get fresh ones. They didn’t make us wait for it came out in less than a minute. They were kinda chewy and freaked me out a lil cuz they are cooked with real chicken 😬 I was afraid I was gunna get sick.

@@0n3c3nt The KFC Beyond Chikn nuggets are often overcooked by KFC. When they do that, they are very chewy. I still liked them a lot, but if you can cut bite sized pieces with a knife and fork, you will enjoy them more. I did! One reviewer here on KZbin said that his were too tough to bite off with only his teeth. Once I cut bite sized pieces, I liked the fact that they were so chewy. Almost like jerky.

@@someguy2135 we did cut them up. We made kfc bowls with them and didn’t like them. We make kfc bowls with Morningstar popcorn chicken and they are amazing. Maybe your right and they did over cook them.

@@0n3c3nt Plant based meat alternatives don't need to be cooked as thoroughly as animal flesh, because there is no threat of salmonella and e-coli from fecal material from the slaughter house. Sorry to be so graphic, but it's true.

i love the chorizo, prefer it to the sofritas as it’s more flavorful. i was really disappointed with the beyond fried chicken though. when i tried it, it was super dry, kinda bland and i really didn’t enjoy the texture. but it’s great that it’s an option!

I finally got to try the nuggets from KFC and the veggie dogs at Weinerschnizel, both were good. None of the Panda Express near me has the vegan stuff yet, I keep checking, and their orange sauce is spicy. Next time your in the L.A. area check out a place called Smoke and Fire (or Fire and Smoke), they have a vegan sandwich made with oyster mushrooms that is really good.

I'm really curious about the KFC nuggies. Did they have that signature KFC seasoning or just a basic nugget? I miss that seasoning and have thought about doing it at home, but it has a bunch of different herbs and spices I don't usually have at home and may waste.

The KFC Beyond Chikn nuggets are often overcooked by KFC. When they do that, they are very chewy. I still liked them a lot, but if you can cut bite sized pieces with a knife and fork, you will enjoy them more. I did! One reviewer here on KZbin said that his were too tough to bite off with only his teeth. Once I cut bite sized pieces, I liked the fact that they were so chewy. Almost like jerky.

Beyond Dinosaur nuggets better be coming soon. I tried the kfc nuggets and totally agree. I think I've had better frozen vegan nuggets but with that classic kfc breading made it worth it even though I wasn't crazy about the texture.

I tried KFC in VT I liked them I even reheated some in the air fryer the next day and were good. They no longer have them 🙁 it was short lived.

Their spicy eggplant tofu was the best....and then they got rid of it less you got to the main test kitchen restaurant that they have. We stopped going there when they got rid of that dish. It was the greatest....

Prior to my Vagan days I was a huge fan of Panda Express Orange Chicken. Since choosing a vegan diet I have not been back. I probably ate more orange chicken form Panda than any human being should, but I was addicted. I need to get to the Panda that's two miles from my house and see if they have the beyond orange. I hvae never been a fan of KFC or Chipotle. It seems like I am the only one on the planet who doesnt like Chipotle, but Panda is a must try.

I like Chipotle, but can't get the sofritas because they are soy texture/protein, I'm glad they did the pea protein, so I'll try it. The beyond nuggets in the stores are soy as well. I was really hoping KFC used pea protein, but I'm betting it's soy, too. Thanks for the reviews!

I bet people weren't getting the Dunkin sandwich cause it wasn't vegan. And to get it made vegan was more expensive (or the same amount) for less product. Taking off the egg and cheese. They needed to make it fully vegan
