Judging an animal’s value of life on its ability to build a structure like a Yale building is a totally illogical argument. Beavers build dams, birds build nests, etc and these are structures they need in their own ways of life. As the saying goes, you can’t judge a fish on its ability to ride a bike. You can’t put human expectations on a wild animal. The guy arguing that point probably can’t even build a basic house. So really he’s arguing FOR his own death.

This is such a great thought. Also, there are many things that animals are capable of doing naturally that humans suck at or can't like aquatic animals and bats having sonar, dogs having a heightened sense of smell, some animals having amazing night vision ability and so on. There are so many examples like these. It's such a human centric and supremacist thing to think that since we're better at some things it's morally justified to mass murderer animals.

@Michael Gamble Hmm it's pretty rare for domesticated dogs to actually hunt and kill (but yes my dog once killed a rat in our house, they didn't consume the rat, just killed it). Unless you're talking about dogs in tribes and so on. And most of the time they are trained to do it too. Also even though my dog would hunt and kill an animal for their own food, I don't think we have any right to take or share the animal that the dog killed. The kill belongs to the dog, not us. By sharing the kill it would already mean that we're just using the dog as the middle man to kill the animal. And that goes against the morals of veganism. My two carrots :D
@adhiantos5 жыл бұрын
@Michael Gamble Ah okay. Well it foes against my morals to share what my dogs bring for me. And most of the time my dog won't even eat her kill. She just kills it (pure instinct maybe?). Besides I see no reason why I should consume an animal that my dog brings for me, when I can consciously choose to consume non-sentient beings. AKA plants. But you do you! :)
@adhiantos5 жыл бұрын
@Michael Gamble The best way to go is to opt for organic farming but yes I understand that it's expensive and not easily accessible and readily available everywhere. Hence we opt for the best we can do. At the end of the day there will always be animals killed due to farming. Insects killed by pesticides and so on and forth. I know in some cases (like in India, where an elephant was killed because they destroy farmlands and so on). But most of the times these happened because humans destroy the natural habitat of these animals. And neither do I condone the act of killing these animals. Also I think in today's world many vegetables are grown in areas/places where the destruction of crops happen often/everyday. And farmers usually put preventive measures to prevent this from happening.

Every source you provided says the vegan diet is "adequate", i.e. you won't die. Non say it's optimal. The pendulum is definitely swinging back against plant-based diets. @Abel Abel 1. The fact that there has never been a long term thriving vegan society , ever, in human history, is very strong evidence that veganism is not natural for man. 2. The AMA once said that margarine was good for you. The U.S. government once said that people should eat 6-11 servings of "grains and cereals" per day. No reasonable person believes either of those, anymore. Anyone who puts all their faith in the ever-changing religion of Science, and give it more credence than their own subjective experience of feeling good or bad, is a mentally ill person.
