Perhaps a bit harsh, given that he clearly hadn't given it a great deal of thought, but that is part of the point. Speaking of unfavourable associations, 'I am just following society' is no more defensible than 'I was just following orders', which definitely did not stand up at the Nuremberg trials. Again, not saying at all that Student 1 is a Nazi, just that laziness in laying out your philosophical views can come across really badly, especially when you make sweeping generalisations.

@Harry Beaver Destroy yourself? Vegans have the longest lifespans. You must have bought into all the stories of vegans becoming malnourished. This happens when a vegan isn't eating properly (say, eating only junk food or just salads). You need to make sure you're getting all the nutrients of course, like on any diet. Some people switch to a plant based diet and end up becoming malnourished simply because they think they can eat only salads and junk food and they'll be okay, not realizing they need to eat vegan sources of protein like beans, nuts, soy, etc, or making sure they're getting other nutrients from vegan sources like B12. It's been proven by numerous studies that not only is it possible to survive on a vegan diet, but you can thrive on one. Fact check your statements before you assume they're correct next time

@@SaturatedCat Lmao what the hell are you talking about?
@saoirse71675 жыл бұрын
@@SaturatedCat No. The only thing that needs to be supplemented is B12, the rest is a personal choice. As for the healthcare costs, there is a right way and a wrong way of eating a vegan diet. The wrong way includes fringe diets, like only eating fruit, which, though they are technically 'vegan', are so far from typical vegan diets, as to make the association absurd. These diets could make someone ill, but eating vegan food correctly, meaning eating a variety of plant foods including beans, nut, seeds, fruit, vegetables etc and educating yourself on the nutritional needs of the human body and the nutritional content of food is more likely to improve your health than be detrimental. For example, the average vegan has a healthy BMI, which is more than you can say for the average US resident. Also, healthcare costs are not inevitable in every country. Americans get the dubious honour of living in a country that is one of the richest in the world and spends the most on healthcare, while actually being less healthy and having food deserts AND having that same healthcare system potentially putting them in debt. When policies that would make the system more like those in the countries that spend less and have healthier citizens are introduced, they are branded as 'socialist' and therefore 'evil'.

Which they're right to some extent, fast foods and schools not having healthy vegan options is a big issue. I would like to comment on the subject brought up by the second individual, insects. He stated insects cannot feel that we cannot prove that they can feel. If we cannot prove that they do not feel, then it would be fair to say that we cannot prove that they do feel. That being said I would like to share a personal story that I experienced with insects, this was before I went vegan. I once bought two scorpions from a pet store, they were Emperor species. One was a male and the other was female. I wasn't aware of their sexes because I didn't know how to tell the difference at the time. I had an enclosure that had real soil, rocks, plants, and a small water fountain. I had two caves I made from rocks. The female stayed in one cave and the male stayed in the other, during the day. At night they both would crawl around outside of the caves looking for food and probably a way to escape. One day I saw the female had several tiny scorpions on her back she gave birth to twenty-two scorplings. I was very excited, when I tried to get a closer look the mother scorpion was very protective, like any mother would be. Eventually I had moved the younger scorpions to a separate enclosure out of fear of cannibalism by the adult scorpions. One day the female was outside of her cave during the day, I noticed this was strange behavior for a scorpion, I thought maybe she had died. I checked she was still alive, she stayed out in the middle for a week or so, I checked on her daily, until finally one day she was dead. I removed her body from the enclosure. The next day the male scorpion was outside of his cave during the day. I thought wow now he's going to die. He stayed in the same location that the female scorpion was for the next two weeks. I checked on him daily same as I did with the female. Eventually he went back to his cave and he lived for about another year after that. And that's when I realized that he was mourning the female scorpion, to him she was his companion. And why not, they are animals? And to say that insects cannot feel is ignorant. I truly believe that all animals have the ability to feel, and express emotion. Thank you Ed for all that you do. I am proud to say I am vegan for the animals, I have been vegan for 6 1/2 years, and I will never ever go back to using animals. Thanks again, peace.

How smart is that?] #13 An appeal to small SCALE private fishing, hunting and animal farming or dairy, "I hunt and /or farm my own meat, fish and other animal products so I'm not supporting the industry's mass animal cruelty" and "All we need to do is reduce our consumption of animal products" argument #14 An appeal to VEGETARIANISM, "As long as we use animal products without killing the animals then there isn't much cruelty involved" and "I only use a tiny amount of dairy creamer in my morning coffee" and "I can give up everything else except cheese" argument #15 An appeal to EXAGGERATION, "Animal rights activists are blowing the issue of animal exploitation out of proportion since things just aren't that bad" argument [Note: You're crazy if you think animal exploitation is a non-issue. Of course there are other important issues. They're all important for us to address.] #16 An appeal to apathy and ABSURDITY, "The animals we're eating have already been killed so what's the big deal if I eat the meat that's already been prepared" and "The animals have no purpose of their own so we might as well use them in whatever way possible" and "we're generously giving animals a shot at life by breeding them into existence which they wouldn't have had otherwise" and "The animals we are eating sacrificed their lives for us" and "Animals don't care if they die" and "As a consumer of animal products I have nothing to do with animal cruelty" and "The animals aren't unhappy with the life we allow them to have" and "What suffering? There isn't any suffering imposed upon the animals. It's just your biased perspective that animals suffer" and "Farming fruits and vegetables kills lots of animals too" argument #17 An appeal to scientific STUDY, "We need to tag these animals to track their migratory patterns and whereabouts" and "We need to perform extensive lab experiments on animals to improve the quality of human life" #18 An appeal to a need for SERVICE animals and pets, "The purpose of the animals is to serve human needs for work and or companionship" argument #19 An appeal to GEOGRAPHY, "I live in a cold climate so it would be nearly impossible for me and my family to live just on vegetables up here" argument #20 An appeal to subjective OPINION, "It's just your opinion that animal exploitation is bad when it's actually a good thing" argument #21 An appeal to BREEDING, "Since man bred these animals into existence we own them and can do whatever we want to with them" and "We're doing them a favor otherwise they wouldn't have had the privilege to be alive at all" argument #22 An appeal to livestock PROTECTION against predators, "Here on the ranch we have to exterminate these dang predators who are preying on our livestock, but don't worry we leave nothing to waste after we kill those varmints" argument #23 An appeal to HUNTING rights, "I like the way I can bring down large game by stalking my prey with my hunting buddies" and "Hunting is an American way of life" and "I want to beat the animals at their own game of predation, stealth and dominance" argument #24 An appeal to CONSERVATION and population control efforts, "We have to cull or thin the herd in order to keep the animals healthy" and "We have to manage animal populations otherwise they will spiral out of control" argument #25 An appeal to PURPOSE, "The purpose of animals is to live a brief life and then die" and "Animals have no purpose of their own" and "Animals are programmed to die from birth" argument #26 An appeal to price and PRACTICALITY, "It's too expensive and effort-intensive to eat only plants, fruits and vegetables" argument #27 An appeal to better STANDARDS, "We can make the process of animal agriculture better for humans and animals" argument #28 An appeal to GENEROSITY, "Farmers are providing people with what they want and you should be thankful for all their hard work in providing this service" argument #29 An appeal to SATISFACTION, "I just can't get that full feeling in my stomach if I only eat fruits and vegetables" argument #30 An appeal to FUTILITY, "Even if I personally stop using animal products nothing is going to change because the practice is so widespread" argument #31 An appeal to REDUCTION, "The secret to good health is to eat less animal products but not stop it altogether" argument

Actually, we have not developed a taste for meat. We process our meat and add plants to it because we lack a taste for meat. This works with other animals too. For example, a lot of cat foods contained grain because it was cheap to add. Grain is very unhealthy for cats to consume and a cat would not eat raw grain, but when properly processed and with the right things added to it, cats can be made to consume grains even though to them that grain is very unhealthy to consume. Any animal can be made to eat any food with right processing. We did not change to eat meat, but we change meat to be eaten by us when we process it.

when people talk about killing plants to be vegan, a good response to add to your collection is that eating fruit, for example, is benefiting the tree because it wants us to spread its seeds and we do not kill the tree to eat from it. Cucumbers, tomatoes, bell pepper, squash, eggplant, rice, beans, almost every plant we eat does not kill the plant when we harvest it.

Oh Ok Bro, I guess when it's a little baby boy, somehow it's different??? If a genital is mutilated it's mutilated, doesn't matter if it's a boy or a girl, I hope you can see that, and call it what it is!

It was just an example, he didn't say mutilation of boys is okay...

the one thing I hate the most is that they think its like this cult thing where they pick a new god to worship and do seances or something. I always, say if you can't do it 100% then just try to cut back on the demand in every area of life. I mean if you cheat you cheat, but the point is what path your going down. Like Beyonce and Jay-Z started with just breakfast then added a lunch or two then a dinner and so on. It's so sad that the human species is okay with putting a dead putrefied animal carcass in their mouth, but a plant is strange. Amazing!

That ,I find it hard to believe they are ok with putting a rotten corpse in their mouth.

Ed I have been a vegetarian from birth, brought up with dairy and eggs being a main source of nutrition. At the age of twelve I transitioned to vegan and I have never thought twice about it. I had no problems from becoming vegan it made me feel better about everything I was doing every day, made me feel as if I was doing my part. You have been such an inspiration for me since then, I love how calm you are talking to people about this, you avoid anything graphic and shouting, honestly you’re the best vegan activist I’ve ever come across, keep on doing what you’re doing Ed!! I love you so much💕💕
