Many comments have been asking about my progress- I have severely cut down on my meat consumption and I actually genuinely think with a bit more time, I could become vegetarian and then from that, become vegan. I really believe that the positive feedback from the comments in conjunction with the conversation with Ed has really opened my mind up to how much meat I'm consuming so thank you guys! Hey everyone, I just wanted to let you all know that for the past 2 months or so I've been completely vegetarian! I've even cut out dairy and am on my way to cutting out eggs. Also, I'm actually in the process of making a video about it all as well some other fitness stuff, I'll post a link here when it's up! @rickknight38234 жыл бұрын
It would also help if vegans admit they don't know everything as well... That's one of the key reasons why there's so much resistance out there. Despite all the vegan ideology and notions on morality, it's still far away from the best option for us and the world. I also don't believe it does "less" harm overall. In fact it's very hypocritical to think this way once you dig past the obvious arguments and go into the details. A very different picture is painted.

@rickknight38234 жыл бұрын
@@shayzakov1895 1 - Veganism relies on Monocrops which take up huge swaths of land and destroys ecosystems. 2 - V food require toxic pesticides and herbicides to control disease as well as artificial fertilisers. This kills the soil and reduces it's fertility - worms /beneficial insects, biological systems. 3 - this toxic mix runs off into local water systems killing water born life / fish stocks and wildlife amongst other ecosystem residents. 4 - all of this is heavily oil dependant from the fuel used to prep the fields to making all the sprays and and fertilisers. This indirectly causes huge amounts of death and destruction linked to the oil industry. 5 - Veganisim inevitably will turn to Gmo seeds as is being pushed by Monsanto / Bayer.. lives of people all over the world are destroyed by these infertile seeds and the racketeering networks bankrupting small farmers. Gmo seeds are destroying natural plant fertility by playing god with nature - Gmo cross breeding and contaminating native stock. 6 - diverse wildlife cannot survive in monocrops land and will ultimately be poisoned or starved to death due to lack of insect life etc etc. 7 - Veganism has been a diet used in times of starvation when there was nothing else to eat. It's inadequate for healthy growth and development.. 8 - grass fed animals raised on cyclical grazing where herds are moved on in pack formation after short intensive grazing - mimicking the predator prey relationship found in nature. The land loves this - biodiversity is brought back and nature thrives. Very little oil used - no pollution - carbon is trampled into the ground and trapped. Vaccinations and drugs are not used - happy and healthy animals are produced completing a balanced and fully sustainable system.. There is more then enough land for this. Check out Greg Judys channel for more information. Peace
@BonnieMan424 жыл бұрын
@@rickknight3823 animal agriculture is dependent on mono crops to a greater degree, for animal feed. All the points you make in relation to this are valid but I suspect that this is more of an indictment against modern farming practices and intensive farming in general than it is a case for/ against veganism. One point I will agree with is the way veganism has become an ideology for some people, who will then defend any point without even considering counter arguments. Again though, this isn't a vegan issue, it's a human issue that can and is applied to many beliefs. Maybe it's dogma, not money, that is the root of all evil?
@rickknight38234 жыл бұрын
@@BonnieMan42 if you look at point 8 - I mention "grass fed" animals raised in a specific way mimicking nature etc etc. Greg Judy has a whole load of fascinating and pretty simple but effective tried and tested methods to raise healthy happy animals on far smaller plots of land then commercial owners who just release the cattle/ sheep etc onto vast swaths of land without intelligent management. Land is brought back and nature benefits enormously. Relied on very little resource input apart from moving stock at specified intervals for maximum land and animal benefit. There is no grain or agricultural input whatsoever. It's an entirely self sustainable system. Just need a relatively small amount of land for different herds. So yes it is a red flag against modern farming practices on both sides of the coin. I've also seen enough evidence to show a vegan diet is not a healthy long term diet for human consumption. One can survive but not thrive as we all want. Gmo Mono crops are the only way to feed a world full of vegans living in cities. It's the "love" of money that we have issues with as humans. Yes that can be a form of dogma, where we all want to choose a side rather then seek reason above emotional reaction. We've all been programmed to anthropomorphize animals to a large extent growing up and this creates a lot of hysteria we are seeing in the vegan community reg the consumption of meat. Tradition and culture are with us for a reason... It's old wisdom and ways that give society balance and connection to our surroundings and each other.

Eric The ex vegan community is rapidly growing. There are hundreds of people online describing how sick they got on the vegan diet. According to psychology today, 84% of vegans and vegetarians return to meat within one year of starting the diet. I wonder why... Plant foods have no Creatine, Taurine, Glutamine, absorbable B12, Vitamin A, K2, Vitamin D and so on. We are not ruminant animals; our stomachs are not made to digest plant food all day long. They are full of anti nutrients that limit the bio availability of the food we absorb. This is why vegans rely on synthetic fake meat, synthetic protein powder, and highly unregulated supplements. It’s exactly why you hear vegan gains sound so depressed and low in his videos; his diet is destroying his body and mental health. Why any of you would take advice from a guy who sounds this depressed is beyond comprehension. You will never feel satiated on a vegan diet; always hungry. Meat is the most nutrient dense food on the planet. All the amino acids you need to be strong and mentally stable...

@Bianca-pw5cn4 жыл бұрын
Michael Davis wow 84% of vegans return to eating meat. Where did you get this data from, the Daily Mail? Before going vegan I actually was plant based for years. Some people think it’s the same but it’s not. Plant based is a diet, and vegan is a philosophy of reducing animal suffering and killing as much as possible and viable (that also involve eliminating animals from your plate). So I was eating plant based as I researched it’s a very healthy diet. Milk is extremely unhealthy with all of the female hormones in it (oestrogen), IGF-1 (which is a hormone that promotes growth, but in human adults can promote cancer growth instead), antibiotics (given to treat mastitis), all the cholesterol and saturated fat and faecal matter (bits of poo). Eggs have a very high amount of cholesterol. All meats have a lot of saturated fat, cholesterol and also antibiotics (given to treat infections and also to make some of the animals grow faster). Also processed meat like bacon or ham are classified by WHO as carcinogenic class 1 (the same class as cigarets are). PS.: Animal agriculture uses 70-80% of all antibiotics produced in the world. Look, I’m not saying meat dairy and eggs are all bad, they have lots of protein, they also have essential micronutrients, and they are tasty. But also are other foods. And lots all this other foods don’t have all of the nasty stuff that comes from animals. Cholesterol for example only comes from animals, and we produce all of the cholesterol we need, some people are less capable than others to get rid of the excess of cholesterol in the body, they end up getting their arteries clogged and that can result in heat attack and very often in death. Heart attack is the number one killer in the States, the UK and many other countries. Beans, on the other side, are full of protein, but have zero cholesterol, and lots of fibre. Fibre has the opposite effect cholesterol has in the arteries. Also more recently researchers are understanding how fibre is important for health, and modern and western civilisations aren’t eating enough fibre due to the amount of animal products (they have zero fibre) and heavily processed food people are eating. But I was eating plant based for health, not for ethics, so sometimes I’d have a bit of milk chocolate. Or a croissant. You know, this things only have a little milk in them. So if once or twice a month I had something that had a bit of milk or a bit of eggs I didn’t care. But now I do, and I’d never eat milk chocolate because I know that little milk in it came from a cow that was forcibly impregnated (had a human fist shoved in her annus) and after 9 months of pregnancy had her calf stolen from her. Cows are very maternal animals and they cry for days for their missing baby. That repeats for 5-6 years, until the farmer realises the cow is not producing enough milk to keep her alive for a next pregnancy, so he sends her to a slaughter house, even though that cow could have lived for another 15-20 years. When I found out about the ETHICAL side of why some people were vegan I went vegan. You might say that was easy, because I was pretty much there, and that’s true, but being more difficult doesn’t justify all the unnecessary things these animals go through. And it’s unnecessary because we don’t need their bodies and their secretions to survive and thrive. Veganism is not a stupid cult, it’s based on ethics and it’s funny that it also has a lot of science on our side, as a died without animals is not also good for human health, it’s also good for the planet. Fair to say veganism and health has nothing to do with one another directly. You can be a healthy vegan (as I chose to be), but you can also be an unhealthy vegan, and eat lots of vegan junk food. But that’s a personal choice. Eating animals, however, isn’t a personal choice, as this choice involves a victim. So yeah. Not a cult, and it does have credibility. Is just that some people are so biased and have an enormous ego, and can’t accept that what they’ve been doing their whole lives is highly immoral. If you watched this talk you’ll have realised this guy was humble and he wanted to learn, rather than judge.

It's interesting that in ancient India or Vedic times the bodies of cows that died were used as a food source for people who worked low level or dirty jobs such as crematory workers. The hide and other parts were put to use as well. These cows were not killed but died in a natural way. In recent years India has changed and you can find a lot of meat in different parts of the country and cows alongside other animals are slaughtered in large numbers.

If all vegans were like Ed, the vegan movement would make way more strides. Most comments in this video are fine, but looking at the comments in most of Ed’s videos is simply vegans calling others stupid, insane, idiotic etc. Stupid or not, you’re just creating enemies at the end of the day. Most vegans are simply misinformed, or have a moral disconnect to what meat eating does. The solution to that isn’t to belittle them.

The guy has a good point about natural death. It would be amazing if we ate animals that naturally died. Pigs may go extinct if everyone was vegan. But what if we keep them in an animal sanctuary and ate them when they died naturally. Ed has an interesting point about it being a bit disrespectful. But honestly I wouldn’t mind if anyone ate me. In fact I wouldn’t mind if I was fed to animals. That way my atoms will be inside animals (conscious beings) rather than inside larvae and worms. I see no moral fault with eating meat that has died naturally. I don’t mind if it’s tougher too

Curious about Ed's thoughts on hunting and where he stands on wild game meat instead of factory farmed meat. Meat tends to be broadly painted with the factory farming brush but not all meat is equal. I for one would most certainly prefer my body to be utilized and turned into nutrients once I die than burned and turned into ashes or embalmed and sealed in a box so bacteria can't return me to the earth but to each his own!
@justroberto50524 жыл бұрын
Freeze Wun veganism is about avoiding harm or abuse towards non human animals as far as possible. So if you are in a position where you don’t need to kill an animal for survival and have access to plant foods then it would be unnecessary to kill and therefor harmful/abusive.
@freezewun89024 жыл бұрын
@@justroberto5052 hmm are you aware that animals most definitely still die in order to sustain a vegan diet? Certainly not as many as a factory farmed meat inclusive diet but a meat based diet of primarily big game undisputedly results in significantly less death per calorie than any store bought vegan diet, not to mention an arrow or bullet through the lungs being a far more humane death than being ground up in a grain combine, hit by transport trucks or poisoned to protect crops.
@justroberto50524 жыл бұрын
Freeze Wun do you not eat plant foods at all? Also you got me thinking here, I’m perfectly aware of crop deaths. I know we could work towards more ethical plant farming to further minimise this. But yeh you really have me thinking!
@freezewun89024 жыл бұрын
@@justroberto5052 sure do! And in a successful year of hunting there's no doubt in my mind that's where the majority of the death in my diet comes from. There's also the factor that when it comes to predators such as bears, I may be taking one life to fill my freezer but multiple deer fawns, moose calves and bear cubs will make it past their first year because of that death so in my mind that's more akin to giving life than taking it. Some would say that would simply be natural predation and if it's going to happen then who are we to step in, I would say it's the same situation when I go up into the mountains with the intent of fulfilling my own roll as a member of a predator species though. Glad I got you thinking, I never do set out with the intention of converting or "owning" someone with my ideas but if I can provide a different perspective that unfortunately never seems to be acknowledged in any of these conversations I'm certainly pleased to do so!
@justroberto50524 жыл бұрын
Freeze Wun my only contest to the idea that you may be saving an animal from a worse death is that I could use the same justification in a human context but in reality it’s still robbing the individual of further experience or potential experiences.
@Nilafila764 жыл бұрын
I love when meat eaters say "I don't feel guilty when I eat meat".....because I look at their eyes and I see guilt and shame that they haven't acknowledged in a very long time. When they do, it's always a relief of the burden of constantly having to numb themselves of the pain that it really delivers!
@Jafmanz4 жыл бұрын
is it the same look you might have in your eyes when you consider the animals on the sea floor that died for the oil in the plastics and fuel you use? or is it more tangible and less obscure?
@Nilafila764 жыл бұрын
@@Jafmanz yeah that's the same look bro! I cry for those being too!!!It's a mess, I can't exactly choose to not ever touch plastic though. It's literally everywhere, from the credit card I have, to the hydrogen peroxide bottle I use for a wound....but choosing what goes in my mouth as far as did this animal have to be directly killed? That's a much simpler choice to make my friend. Everytime you put an animals flesh into your mouth you are saying that your sense enjoyment is more important than an animals life. Think about that, peace!
@Jafmanz4 жыл бұрын
@@Nilafila76 Plastic is a massive global sin. thankfully there are many projects hoping to tackle that with algae based or similar products. the sooner the better! quakers do not use plastic, there are no doubt some peoples perhaps very few that are plastic free, outer mongolia perhaps, remote places. I would not say you have no choice, but perhaps it would be a very hard choice. Much like the choice for many peoples who live on land that sustains no significant agriculture and to whom the notion of poisening the air with transport to get vegetables is abhorrent. Would you extend a similar notion for someone who only ate roadkill. I watch a channel of a man who only eats already dead animals. I guess what i mean to say is that for you and perhaps (I know you cannot speak for them properly) other vegans is the morality of meat purely or mainly based on the taking of life or is there something else at play (dietry arguments aside) thanks for your time.
@Nilafila764 жыл бұрын
@@Jafmanz I didn't mean to say that I couldn't go plastic free just that it would be an amazingly tough path to walk with my current involvement in modern life. The depths at which this poison has seeped into our lives is truly staggering. I do things to minimize my direct contact with it, but that's for another day:::As for the meat thing, for me personally, it's about the life of that creature. My health is a secondary consideration as I feel better and stronger on a plant diet.:::I wouldn't find a moral issue with the guy eating road kill, much the same as the guy in the video waiting until the cow dies. My problem is the unnecessary taking of an innocent creatures life, I don't care how small it is. If you live in an inhospitable place and there is no question of growing food, and there is some consideration of not polluting the environment with the fumes that it would take to bring vegetables to you, then if you kill an innocent creature to survive it is somewhat ok because you needed to live and survive and there was no fruits or vegetables provided by nature. But to me the fumes that it would take to bring that food is less of an evil than the killing of that innocent creature. The fumes even being an issue is still a debate and yet to be seen, but that innocent life can never be replaced.

I think if vegans spent as much energy on proposing some sort of sustainable balance with meat eaters they would make a bigger impact rather than trying to convert everyone overnight. It is not in our nature as humans to move from one extreme to another even if the science proves that meat eating is more detrimental we need to be more strategic in educating mankind. The approach people like Ed have will leave people more frustrated and hostile towards veganism albeit his intentions are good. The ideology of veganism is correct the approach of most vegans is just plain stupid and frustrating to deal with and leads to "majority" of meat eaters just ignoring them. This video demonstrates how we can meet halfway in times of a polarized world. Well done 👍!
